You can make Logarius vulnerable to bullets in phase 2 by getting a charged Heavy Attack against his back and visceral attack before he fully summons the deflection aura - the area of effect attack that knocked you back. However, because he can get 'stuck' against a wall due to his AI deferring to ranged attacks without movement when the player is at a range and a backwards jump when the player is near, players can get him into a position where this is impossible, and most players who've already adjusted to his invulnerability might never notice it's absence.

The most tragic aspect of this video is that TH-cam took a month to recommend it to me. I'm new to this channel, but I'm a massive fan of Matthewmatosis's long videos on Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1. I think you really captivated the thoughtful and provoking deep dive commentary that I value about those videos, while having your own narrative style and analytical values. I'm only two hours in, but I can already tell this video is a huge achievement in game analysis, and I'm very happy to have stumbled upon it.
Look, this video has been out for a year and is 7 hours long But its BLOODBORNE and its a 7 HOUR LONG VIDEO like the amount of love and work you had to put into this??? I am watching it full and maybe more than once man!
I've needed 3 days to get through this video, and after watching it I still want more. BB was my first FS game. I've spend a lot of hours playing it, and spend even more time watching content on YT about lore and theories, yet still after so many years after releasing and playing the game I am thankfull to the community that it gives the game attention and credit it deserves, and also I am amazed that after such a long time I still learnt something new about the game. Hands down to you for creating such a masterpiece. I really enjoyed how you managed to talk about lore and your speculation and just your commentary overall was very interesting. 5:28:25 Fun fact! The “white-clad lady”, interestingly enough, is actually Vicar Amelia pre-beasthood! She repeats the same prayer that can be heard as you walk into her base-game boss room, and wears the same attire.
I don't think this is true- Amelia is not wearing the White Church Garb, as the hunter is. There is much less cloth in Amelia's outfit, it doesn't have the iconic black stripe on the back, and the cuffs are tight and detailed on Amelia as well. The prayer is likely a common prayer throughout the Church, as many payers are. While it is interesting that the White Lady is placed right before Laurence's Skull, as is Amelia, my guess is that his human skull was hidden in the nightmare, either out of shame or superstition; or that the nightmare itself took it and hid it away, as per its description "He is destined to seek his skull" Besides, Laurence is in the Grand Cathedral now, which is where Amelia is in the waking world. It is also true that, to my knowledge, we don't see anyone in the Dream realm (Hunter's Dream, Lecture Hall, Nightmare Frontier, Nightmare of Mensis, and the whole DLC) that is alive in the Waking World as well as the Dream Realm (aside from our hunter of course, but we have been given the gift of inter-dream travel from the Moon Presence). Everyone in the Dream Realm is, and has been, dead. While it would technically be possible for her to be there because we killed her ourselves, I don't think this would be the case. Not only is she not old or beastly, but we don't see any characters in the Dream Realm that have been transformed or overtaken by beasthood in the Waking World, but then are reverted to human in the Dream Realm. The Bloodborne Fextralife wiki also states in her trivia that "In The Old Hunters DLC, there is a Healing Church Hunter that some believe to be Vicar Amelia. However, she is not. Rather, she is meant to create a connection to the real altar to with Laurence's beastly skull in the Grand Cathedral."
The mid fight cutscene for Ludwig is beautiful, then the music drop in the second half, choir at first, then the strings start dancing in and then holy fuck the brass comes in BWOOOOMH and just kicks you straight in the fuckin chest, it's one of my favorite moments in any game.

Bro ive literally been watching your channel for years and i completely missed this one! I must say, its a joy to randomly find an AesierAesthetic commentary i havent found yet!.
Dude you break down the lore, mechanics and other aspects of the game with such a strong sense of depth and respect that it’s easy to lose 7 hours of life and not even be mad in the slightest. Thank you for the Amazing content
Your complaint about the series focusing to much on combat reminds me of Mathewmatosis’s The Lost Soul Arts of Demon’s Souls video. I believe the issue he had with the series focusing on combat to much was one of the main reasons he stopped doing videos on the souls series.
Bloodborne is my favourite game of all times, and I'm thankful that you made such a well-rounded and in-depth video of the game. In 2016 when I played Bloodborne as my first souls game experience, I was going through a terrible period of my life, and Bloodborne's visualization of madness reminded me of some of the nightmares I was having and made me sleep only 15 hours per month while crying all the time. I had a place where I could kill this madness and end it, through true hardship. Bloodborne saved my life by giving me an escape from it. Funnily enough, Sekiro did a very similar thing for me last year, but I will comment about it only after I've watched your 6-hours video about it.
2:04:04 I would also add that covenants, if fleshed out properly, would be able to let players role play more effectively in this roleplaying series of games. Like, I imagine that joining a more fleshed out version of the Forest Hunters might open up a questline where you can invade and subdue a difficult npc akin to Lautrec and his squad in Anor Londo. This might increase your reputation with the Hunters. Maybe Shiva of the East would let you purchase more valuable and rare equipment and weapons after hearing about how you proved your loyalty to the covenant. Maybe joining the Fair Maiden's covenant would require you to ruthlessly gut and kill once-friendly npcs if you want to make her completely healthy once again, prompting you to make a decision on who you value more as your player character. Edit: wait oops you literally made that point once I continued watching after that time stamp.
Hearing you get the blessings of and saying thanks to all the big hitters made me happy. I love your videos, and it feels good when people who do so much work for the lore or mechanics communities get recognized.
Literally started my second attempt to beat the game not too long before this went live; I just finished it, and safe to say I throughly enjoyed watching this as I went along.
Bloodborne is my most favorite game of all time. A gothic/cosmic horror setting with fast and bloody combat. My god, it hit all the right places. I joke with my friends that if Bloodborne was a woman we'd be married.
I just started this video and can already tell I’m really going to enjoy it. I’ve watched Matthew’s Dark Souls and Demon Souls commentaries several times, and I expect I will be adding this to that list.
15:56 Oh yes, now I want this feature SO MUCH! Rolling through a room full of barrels just to break them all is always a nice break from all the fighting, being able to pick up physics objects and throw them at enemies would elevate it to a whole new level! (And if some of the special physics objects make a return, like gunpowder barrels and the weird corrosive heart jars from DS2, this could add a lot of improvisational combat potential)
I just got done watching Matthewmatosis' video on Demon's Souls for the second time and was thinking how I wish more people had content akin to it. Then I saw this in the recommended and thought, no way someone could make a video like his. I am about half in hour in and already lost in you commentary, look forward to the next 6½ hours. Thanks a lot!
The best thing I learned from this video was that you can shoot Micolash to interrupt his call beyond. Seriously though, I’m nearly finished and this video is incredibly well thought out, it didn’t even feel like 7 hours. Not anything that hasn’t been said before about this video, but I feel some eyes on the inside beginning to form.
Amazing video man, I honestly do like these longer videos. I can always set them on the background while I'm busy with other stuff like mowing, weed-whacking, drawing, or napping; it really is great to listen to.
I do want you to know that I've seen all of your videos at least twice; I've even shared them with others. You pose some interesting ideas that always get some discussions going.
Amazing commentary Aesir! btw the bullets in bloodborne are made of quicksilver(mercury) because regular firearms cannot harm beasts. So some werewolf motifs were used for the beasts.
I just finished the game for the first time and this video is just what I needed. A well written video that condenses most of the topic this masterpiece has to offer. Thank you
I don't comment often, but I thought I should here. Took me a couple of weeks to finish this with all the work on my plate, but I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this commentary. I just recently restarted this game myself and was looking for some quality content on it. I find it hard to speak my mind most of the time, or to believe anyone may care for my input, but I want to let creators like you know I appreciate your hard work. As for your closing point about telling creators like From Software we appreciate them and their efforts, I agree, but also firmly believe this must be balanced with healthy criticism. Again, even though you may never see this, know I and many others appreciate your work here.
Most complete video analysis i've ever seen on Bloodborne. And I pretty much agree with your final note on how triple As are getting more mediocre over time, and we should thank Fromsoftware for existing and doing what they do! I do feel really lucky playing their games, each one being truly a piece of art. Thank you for this video sir, the amount of work you put in it is surreal ! Much love from France
recently I guided a friend through the game and watched him play via a private stream that he set up for me...since then I cant get the game out of my head! thank you for this video :)
This feels like a huge passion project, and it has been an absolute delight to watch. A lot of the lore-stuff you dug into was not something I was aware of, and I adore some of the connections you drew from it. So uh, thank you for taking the time to make it!
I just finished and I wanted to say that this commentary was well worth the wait! I was enjoying it so much that it felt more like 4 hours long than 7 and a half hours. I came into this expecting some new insight about one of my favorite games of all time and you did not disappoint. My thoughts below are a little scattered so forgive me. The thing I find most impressive about your videos is how well you convey every aspect of the game you’re analyzing. You go over gameplay mechanics, lore, development history, developer intention, design philosophy, player psychology and a lot more. This helps me understand the game a lot more because as the saying goes “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. You also helped me realize a lot of Bloodborne’s flaws which I struggled to put into words. I agree with everything you said about having to backtrack to complete character quests, the lack of build variety in early game and more of an emphasis on combat instead of exploration when compared to Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1. My favorite parts of the video were when you speculated about how the game could’ve been structured differently if FromSoft had enough time to do what they originally envisioned. The ones that come to mind is the player cutting off Laurence’s head and him to speaking to us much like Ludwig, Hemwick being the starting area and chasing Laurence around until he jumps into the lake. I’m very excited for the promo of your game because I believe that you practice what you preach regarding game design. Much like the games you analyze, your videos are so entertaining that they lend themselves to multiple viewings. Thank you for another amazing video and thank you for seeing games for what they could be instead of what they are!
I've watched your videos with Sinclair lore and it's amazing how I can pick the bits and pieces that you've picked up from them (or developed along with them), I don't mean this as a diminishment of your work (quite the contrary as it is very impressive) just thought I'd point it out. Thanks for the video I greatly enjoyed it.
I'm glad I spent all this time on this video! Pretty well made and commentated. I enjoyed this quite a bit. As much as I love Bloodborne and I've consumed it, it seems there are still opinions worth listening to, and things I didn't know about. Still, I can't ever forget the fact that I'll never have real (and official) closure.

I haven’t started the video yet and I already liked it. Creators who make long videos with in depth explanations automatically get my like
:)
The delays on this video were starting to feel like a nightmare. I'm hyped to listen to this!
Hearing you get the blessings of and saying thanks to all the big hitters made me happy. I love your videos, and it feels good when people who do so much work for the lore or mechanics communities get recognized.
I wish more people would do 7 hour videos so I don't have to keep picking new videos while I work.
Not 7 hours but you should check out noah caldwell-gervais´ channel - he does really good long analysis videos
Indeed.. I listen these while playing games and its annoying to pause the game every 10 minutes or so and find a new video 😂
Literally started my second attempt to beat the game not too long before this went live; I just finished it, and safe to say I throughly enjoyed watching this as I went along.
NICE!
Yeah! Much love for Sinclair Richie and the others!
I love going to my subscriptions and finding a video that lasts as long as a shift at work.
Thank you.
I made a similar video on Sekiro as well if you're interested
Damn I forgot your channel existed. This is something I can look forward to later.
Man I’d talk about how much I love this video if I had the time to watch even half of it
The best thing I learned from this video was that you can shoot Micolash to interrupt his call beyond. Seriously though, I’m nearly finished and this video is incredibly well thought out, it didn’t even feel like 7 hours. Not anything that hasn’t been said before about this video, but I feel some eyes on the inside beginning to form.
Thank you :)
Amazing video man, I honestly do like these longer videos. I can always set them on the background while I'm busy with other stuff like mowing, weed-whacking, drawing, or napping; it really is great to listen to.
Glad you like them!
Thank you
Holy shit I was NOT expecting it to be this long!
This is an awesome video btw!!!!!
:D
7 hrs. A whole working day! Thats some dedication
Enjoy!
The madman really did it. Seven-and-half hours.
This is a masterpiece, thank you for creating this
thank you :)
I made a similar video on Sekiro and Silent Hill 2 & 3 (also MGS1) if you're interested
@@AesirAesthetics Currently watching the Sekiro one! And SH2 and MGS will be next, them being some of my favorite games of all time! :D
man why the only fucking longform analysis video of bloodborne on the whole goddamn internet gotta be done by the villian of despicable me
XD lol!
Damn bro
This is was an amazing overlay to the playthrough formula. Incredible effort!
6:17:53 PTSD kicking in. How was I able to beat that ...THING.
Parrying helps
@@insertedgynamehere___969 HUMBUG! BOOMHAMMER GOES BOOM!
This is insane. I literally just beat the DLC and now I get your brilliant in depth analysis in my feed.
Are you stalking me?
I'm not but enjoy!
great work!
❤❤❤
A video with this much work an dedication deserves a sub just as appreciation
Thank you :)
I also did videos like this one on Sekiro, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill 2 & 3 if ypu're interested
@@AesirAesthetics I will definitely be checking them out thanks!!
This game does something to your soul. Its powerful. Some way, some how. At first glance you wouldn’t think so.
Again, even though you may never see this, know I and many others appreciate your work here.
only bloodborne could get me to watch a 7 hour video that to me almost sounded like turkish most of the time
💀
I watched this entire video. Thank you for keeping me company my entire 10 hour shift today. Was a good listen.
Glad you enjoyed it!
One minute and I comment with no idea aside from the title.
Excellent video. Love the thoughtful analysis, and filling up so much time! That 8 hours really flew by :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hell yeah, gonna have to watch this in increments tho. I consider this game tied with Dark souls 1 as my favorite game of all time
I broke the video down to chapters which you can find in the description.
Enjoy!
that matosis style intro got me damn it, loved the vid .
HELL. YES. My body is ready
You sure? It's pretty long.....
*Jesus* this is a long video... but thank for having chapters with links to :p. This is going to be a long digestion lol.
recently I guided a friend through the game and watched him play via a private stream that he set up for me...since then I cant get the game out of my head! thank you for this video :)
Really going for that 10 minute mark aren't ya
This feels like a huge passion project, and it has been an absolute delight to watch. A lot of the lore-stuff you dug into was not something I was aware of, and I adore some of the connections you drew from it. So uh, thank you for taking the time to make it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
And here I thought you'd quit TH-cam after failing to beat Ratchet and Clack
I DID BEAT IT!
THERE WAS CONTROLLER LAG!
Uhhh yeah just inject this shit straight into my veins!!
💉
Fantastic video! I especially agree with your closing thoughts. Thanks for being so thorough!
Algorithm boost 😇
🙏
I've watched your videos with Sinclair lore and it's amazing how I can pick the bits and pieces that you've picked up from them (or developed along with them), I don't mean this as a diminishment of your work (quite the contrary as it is very impressive) just thought I'd point it out. Thanks for the video I greatly enjoyed it.
I wholesale looted so much from them :D
Two days ago? TH-cam what the hell, i don't pay you to not tell me about aesiraesthetics videos.
Oh, wait, i don't pay youtube... welp.
I wont lie, I wish that Matthewmatosis also made a bloodborne commentary of this length, but you did a stellar job!
Thank you, I also made a Sekiro Commentary if you're interested :D
This guy is so smart and cool. Can't help but wonder if he has a girlfriend.
I'm glad I spent all this time on this video! Pretty well made and commentated. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
As much as I love Bloodborne and I've consumed it, it seems there are still opinions worth listening to, and things I didn't know about. Still, I can't ever forget the fact that I'll never have real (and official) closure.
went to look for more of your silent hill videos but saw this one and clicked instantly. 7 Hours!?!? fucking amazing dude. thank you so much for this.
enjoy! :D
I also did a commentary on Metal Gear Solid way back if you're itnerested.
This is an absolutely phenomenal video. Been excited for it the second you announced it. Thank you so much for providing us with very long, in depth videos
