I was at a drift event recently, there was a guy having fun with a clapped out AUTO 400,000 km G35. Don’t let anyone tell you that you need a built drift car to drift
Keep the oil up in a VQ and it will treat you right all day.

One of my absolute favorite cars. I wish they were able to be imported into the US.
The Driftworks car looks awesome. It is not really an OEM style swap since the engine management was changed. The body kit looks amazing but those cars were built on Diablo chassis. That is why he is seeing the fitment issues.

7:48 i believe the 325i made only 190 crank, so I think it's more in the range of 175-180 wheel.

My 1992 BMW 325I - E36 platform is AMAZING! I LOVE MINE. They will eventually become classics.
The clean unmolested survivors (like mine) 104,000 miles will only go up in value, as the sport of drifting has "thrashed" and destroyed most of them. The E36 has an almost perfect 50/50 weight ratio, a high revving (bullet proof) Inline six,& five speed gearbox..... "A blast to own and drive".
Again I love mine.

I love the E36 platform. Bought mine for $800 and drifted 15 events in that car. Such a great platform. I currently own 4 of them haha.
Fun fact. This guy is known around our neighborhood as "chicken little" for his pranks he orchestrated years ago at the local chain restaurant.

@@travisfoster5873 Only things you need is a ratchet set, WD40, Brake cleaner, a hammer and a Jack. Everything else just makes the job easier.

@@ministerpopilyo That's indeed true, if you are good with your local junkyard you may grab some old wheels for free which are basicially either just old or too worn down for normal driving. And it also depends on the event "class" - on the nürburgring there are drift events you can go for specifically with your normal street vehicle, only thing you need is a helmet if I'm not mistaken, but yeah, full-on drift events require some more safety equipment & prepwork. And why trailer it if it's road legal? Because if you #fullsend into a bank and the car is fucked, then yeah, that's a valid point. but if you're a starter in drifting and search for a event with enough "run-off" (proper term? don't know) the possibility of wrecking your car is hugely minimized.

The best part of having an E36 as a drift car is that you won't care when the door panels fall off, and you've likely already replaced all the bushings and plastic-tank radiator 😂

Great story but don't lie to the people about cost 1100 + 50 HOURS 2 people time if not more + the shop and tool and know how which not everyone has . PLUS sponsor stuff ( which 99 % of people don't have ) my guess in real money it cost 4 to 7G to build . 1100 gets u just the hardware. Nicely done tho pulling it off in a week!
I'm pretty sure he's speaking to the car guys that already have tools, toys and friends to help out. He's not implying that any shmuck with no tools or mechanical skills can pay someone 1k to create this.
Yeah, all the sponsored guys and their "affordable" advice, and restoring "cheapest in the country" examples are pathetic. ECSTuning, KONIG and Michelin don't cater to my every need, and BENDPAK doesn't supply me with machinery.

I’d say like $1500 if you find a car for about $500 like me, ok coilovers for $500, spare tires 200-300, welding the diff and it would definitely work on a budget
I guess he got lucky, i did the e36 thing a few years ago, and let me tell you, it was not cheap. Everything broke and i mean everything. Terribly underpowered for anything other then a skid pad.

Pro drift you need alot of horsepower now days because everyone has 1000whp drift cars so you kind of have too but grass roots just for fun drifting a 200-300 horsepower car is where it's at, your not constantly breaking stuff, it's easier to find parts, and it's cheaper

Can you answer why a special charger is needed to charge AGM batteries even though they are charged in car by the same source that charges all types of batteries without issue? So why is a special charger for AGM batteries needed to maintain them when a car is in storage etc?
Miata will always be the best for a beginner drifter. Parts are cheap and turbos can be slapped on so easily.

I'm 14, and I have a BMW 318iS (E36) 140hp, and i'm trying to learn to drift with it. It's just pretty hard when the track is pretty known between finnish drifters, so there are some people almost every weekend. I gotta fix my handbrake, and then I can get back to the track, I have like 5km (about 3 miles) to the track.

I bought a BMW e36 325is a few years back for $60. All it needed was a new battery and a hydro then we deleted thermostat cuz it overheated a lil then it ran fine. We welded the diff and took it to damnnear all of 2017 cali sideshows lmao how many times I've ran from the boys in that car. The last day we had that car my boy lex put in a new diff cuz the one we welded grenaded lol literally 5 minutes after putting it in and testing it he goes to toss it and a fucken cop was on lunch in the corner watching him lmao that was a shitty experience since there was so much beer cans in there. He was lucky to only get a warning and the car impounded
