Welcome to our irish Summer, Waterford is just about up there with the best for bass fishing, and you can always find a fish or two what ever the weather.
I wanted to head to Waterford but the wind and swell seemed to be smashing the coast, a lad in Tralee mention the dingle was pretty sheltered so headed there. Waterford next year for sure!
You'll get the distance with a Bombarda float. The leader will take anything from a fly to popper lure. Surface fishing for bass and seatrout is a doddle. Have a look at the principals of Bombarda floats, well worth your time.
Glad you both had a great time Nath. Thanks for braving some bad conditions there to bring us enjoyable footage of some of your silver catches. Ireland has some great marks. All the best, and as always TL's.
It was an amazing trip, hard going but enjoyable. Just a shame I couldn't get more footage of it. Hopefully the weather on next year's trip will be a little kinder. TL's Adz👍🎣
Eyup Nathan. It's always good to see you getting amongst it. In answer to your response to my last comment I've managed some interesting climbs, caught some fish and seen some amazing things - a Razorbill 'flying' and fishing underwater a few feet away, I've shared a rock with a Cormorant that was happy to sit four metres away from me while I fished. I wrapped the leg of a panicky Gannet that dived on my weedless lure and released it unharmed. Tough cookies Gannets. Three weeks ago I pointed to rocks with an angry swell battering them in high winds and said to my missus - 'You would not want to be just there just now'. Unfortunately a man was there at the time and lost his life to the sea. Be very careful everyone. I have also spotted the increasingly ubiquitous TH-camr not far away. I caught when he didn't but I had climbed where he had not. He was on bait and I was on lures. Thank you for what is now years of help with techniques, gear and the heads-up with safety matters when climbing and fishing. It all helps a lot. Stay safe and keep posting.❤ I'll sithi after! Dave
Alreet Dave, Sounds like you've been getting close to nature and well done for outfishing a 'professional' angler 😉, especially when it comes to bait vs lures. Thanks for all the support over the years 🙏 tight lines👍🎣

Just spotted the great video again Nathan…I’m looking out at the last mark you fished ..on hols for 2 weeks …fishing is very slack at the moment..just on handy sea trout I lost a big bass and my Patchenko at that mark last September..he made it into the Kelp and I had a break!!!! The terns would drive you nuts chasing the Patch.. I’ll be giving it a try next week…if the wind drops off!!
Always great entertainment, great fishing, great fish and great giant donuts on the beach, whats not to like? Thanks for the great lengths and distances you put in to bring us your fantastic content. Just back from Cornwall myself with a PB bass under my belt. 😁🐟🎣
As always, LV, it's my pleasure. I'm just glad I can get to go to these places and take you along with me. Congrats on the new PB, sounds like you had a good holiday👍🎣💪
That was well worth putting up. I love Ireland, but unfortunately the weather dictates when and where you can go. People don’t realise how much hard work it is to keep fishing like that 🎣🐟
I know that area of Kerry well, lovely part of the Country, shame the weather was not nice for you as it is truly stunning when the sun is out and the water clear. The area to the right of where you were fishing from the rocks, up in the actual estuary can be excellent for sea trout and bass at low water fishing into the channel.
It was stunning even with the bad weather, made the whole atmosphere of the area quite exciting. We were hoping to fish the estuary and did for a while but the wind and muddy water made it tricky. Hopefully we'll be able to fish it when we get back next year.
Hey Gary just found you comment. Im in Kerry every few months (next to Valentia Island). Im new to fishing and was wondering where some good spots are and what bait to use. Do you have and recomendations
Hee hee . I scrolling past and saw your vid. I live in those mountains the timelapse points at. Its Well known spot. You want to fish off the very tip of it... And to the right on a big low for decent sea trout also, bass will be around there when swell is big enough to break down there. . Theres a rock to the right looking out theyd be hiding past. Schoolies mainly at fermoyle beach Move three beaches to three peaks for some decent night fishing.

Funny that the fish only wanted the top water. I’ve had it happen a few times and can only put it down to them being so fired up, that nothing else grabs their attention like a splashy top water. 🤷♂️ Cheers
The weather has been crap this summer, hasn't it! Seems great mid week but seems to turn rubbish when a fishing slot opens up. Aye, I think you're right, to me, bass seem to be the only fish with an attitude/personality. They can be lazy and nip at lures then thrash around on the surface. Other times they'll smash topwaters, give an awesome scarp and when you do land them their fins are blue and they seem full of life. I've not experienced that difference with cod, pollack or wrasse. Tight lines OB👍🎣
Sounds like an epic trip with good results given the weather. It hasn't been any better down the road weather wise, had a biblical 8 hour down pour all night one session and 40 mph winds and driving rain another, can't remember a summer as bad for a long time although my days off probably just coincided with the poor weather.
The westher has been a total pain, seems to be nice during the week but turns to shit at the weekend. Hopefully we'll get an Indian summer and can get amongst the bigger autumn bass🤞 Tight lines Rab👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets Had one come up and swallow a lure in chocolate water about a rod length out a week or so ago. Completely engulfed the lure but when i lifted into it (short range, light braid so didn't want to hoy into it too hard) the lure came straight out its mouth. Took it another twice when i dropped it back and still didn't get a hook up. Mouth like a bucket, one that will haunt me for a while, especially this year with better ones being few and far between. Was a weedless lure, they definitely have issues with bigger slow lazy fish that don't smack the lure. Still time for us all yet to get a big one, fingers crossed.
Hey Mate, That whole area in Kerry that you fished has some really good fishing for different species at different times of the year. I fish around there alot - if your traveling over here again give us a shout. You can catch lots of rays , huge stingray , painted ray Undulate ray, huge Flounders in winter time. Id say the best time fishing for bass down there has to be from September all the way through to end of December. Anyway great video, glad you had good enough fishing over here, but crazy weather :)
Hey, will do. There was a sign that showed the species available in the area, the rigs and even where to collect bait. Amazing! I might be heading back in Jan, so hopefully the bass are still about
Hey Tony, just found you comment. Im in Kerry every few months (next to Valentia Island). Im new to fishing and was wondering where some good spots are and what bait to use. Do you have and recomendations.
You didn't spook them .The fish just moved on. I've fished that spot maybe 20 times over the last 25 yrs. The bass run in to the estuary from the surf beach with the flood tide. And follow a wider route back out with the ebb. It usually goes quiet towards the bottom and top of the tide.Good seatrout with a metal lure there too
Hi Eamon, thanks for letting me know that. We were desperate to fish the estuary, it's more like what I'm used to fishing at home but the wind and water colour put us off. Hopefully the weather gods will be kinder to us next year. Tight lines 👍 🎣
Wexford, my old stomping ground. Wish I'd known you were going, I could have put you on a few marks. Now you know why Ireland is forty shades of green, 'cos it's always pissing down! Nice vid Nate', really enjoyed it.
Haha, not heard that saying before but it's a perfect description of Ireland! I'll be heading back early next year so might tap you up for a couple. Tight lines, John👍🎣
Seems ages since bass featured in your videos Nathan, I’m pleased to be reminded what they look like, not having much luck here in Kent this season so far
It feels like ages since I've posted one! Is been a tough year for me, too, and this trip to Ireland was no exception. Hopefully we both get into the the bigger autumn bass this September 🤞🎣👍
Another great video, thank you. You appear to be using the heavier 10-40 g and longer 9'6" rod for all your lure fishing this year. What made you change from the lighter set ups you were using before? Do you feel that the Century Graphex is a good all rounder, for Cod, Pollack, Wrasse and Sea Trout? Would be good to see you do a rod review :-)
Thanks Paul, glad you liked it. The change in rods is mainly down to the weather. The average wind speed seems to have increased over the years meaning my beloved light setups struggle, so find my self using rods with greater casting weight range and fish to the conditions. The extra length helps with lighter lures but can be a hindrance on tight rock marks so turn to the Tailwalk Hi-Tide SSD 8.3MH which can cast 15-50g but I still use the usual 12lb braid and same 2500 sized reel. If the weather is good then I'll get the lighter setups out. I'll see if I can get a comparison vid of my rods organised. Hope this helps and tight lines🎣👍
Lovely footage in some challenging conditions. Ireland is like a drug, once you have been you will want to keep going back. Regarding the fish disappearing after you caught initially at low tide, do you think the big patch can scare them sometimes? I have noticed on my marks that unless the swell is pounding the 140 would get an early reaction and then the fish just lose interest or disappear. So this year I have bought the 20 and 30g Samson Bomb lures, as it is a silent type lure that casts even better than the Patch, only downside is the minute you stop working it, it starts to sink. All the best for the rest of the year, hope you can replicate your drone footage of the bass on a surface lure, if we ever get any settled weather🤞
I think I need to go into re-hab, I can't stop thinking about the next trip over there 😂 It's a good point about the 140, it could well be the noise that they get sick of. I've got a couple of IMA Salt Skimmers without the rattles in them, I'll be sure to give them a go the next time the fish seem to disappear. Yeah, I hope so too, the wind seems to be a constant at the moment so hopefully conditions align and I can get some more strikes with the drone. Thanks and tight lines👍🎣
Looks amazing scenery! What a location! Stunning! And amazing bass. Quick gear question, what are the waterproof trousers you use? Looking for an alternative to boot foot waders. They look so much better than the usual styles from Patagonia or Orvis.
They're Simms Freestone waders with neoprene socks, but I wear old running shoes with the lining cut out and scre in studs. Much lighter and more nimble than wading boots. Must admit, I prefer my old patagonia waders with the same footwear, just they sprang a leak or two after 5 years of heavy use. They fit a fair bit better and have more features. Hope this helps
I hope you don't mind me asking, what's your pb cod on lure from the shore? Ive just been watching your interview with full circle and you mention you still haven't had a double figure cod on lure and im just wondering what it is? On another note, great vid. really nice bass 👍
Quality lads, cracking viewing must be incredibly difficult to film in these places!! weather looks a pain well done for sticking it out. never tried bass fishing myself but might have to give it a go looks good fun. Harris any good for bass?? What sort of areas am I looking for? Surf?
Bass fishing is great fun, especially top water- similar to dry fly fishing for trout- nothing better than seeing the fish hit the lure. Apparently Uist has a few bass so no reason why harris wouldn't. Surf beaches with estuaries and some rocks will be your best bet, probably fished at first or last light. Hope you get amongst them mate
@@SlippyLimpets cheers Nathan, ill give it a go!! currently parked up and triumpan head just finished work waiting for the rain to ease. One thing with this island weather is so unpredictable. I’m from Waterford and have only taken up bass fishing with lures at the start of the year. To be honest it’s been a struggle for me yet to catch one 6 months on but we keep trying 🎣💪🏻
Great to see ye in the Emerald Isle guys….. it’s been a disaster of a summer weather wise … not the best for sea fishing 😂😂 Did ye get to Brandon bay at all when ye were in Kerry?? Some great marks for spinning and bait fishing for Bass Heading down early next month for a week of fishing…. can wait….keep the vids coming 🎣🎣

Last video I watched you said you had lost all your rods. What happened and love your dry rucksack, what model and size is it as can only find 50Lt, great video.
That was about 2 year back, I got back to the car put them on the ground,, took a phone call from an angry other half and drove off leaving the 3 rods and reels on the ground. Went back a few hours later and they were gone.🙁 The rucksack is a 35l and the model is Sea to Summit Flow 35, not sure if they're still in production, unfortunately.
@@SlippyLimpets the same happened to my emigrated fishing partner since then I always walk around the car before leaving, no matter what the weather is, I think your videos are the best on TH-cam for a few reasons, your fish handling and conversation is above everyone and you explains your gear and tactics, and they are professionals shot I am surprised your not working for some fishing magazine or similar, cheers for the reply.
I bet the bass were right under your feet in that breaking wave, then you spooked em away by starting to talk all over the place. Bass spook super easy, and woukd also have spotted the strange blue thing all of a sudden making those noises.
I do a wee bit of fly fishing for trout so know to fish the close water first and apply that to all of my lure fishing. They were defo further out. Thanks for the comment
Great that you got over to Ireland Nat.The weather has been shocking. Worst July ever for rain so dont let it put you off if you plan on heading back next year. Tight lines
I'm not sure, I lost my 500g so my mate lent me this one for the session. It's an older colour and I want to say Nacre but reckon that's wrong. Sorry i can't be any more help
Nice silvers you crazy f##ers. Question. I have had a lot of success using sandy andy lures for the bass. Have you ever used them. ? I find on my long cast spinning rod they are very accurate in any wind situation and do produce the bass. I generally fish north Cornwall coast.?
I have used them a few time, larger 40g from the boat and the small 10g (i think) from the shore for bass and they are great lures. They cast further than the Fiiish Crazy Eel but have a similar catch rate, not to mention a fair bit cheaper.
I've had other BPM baits th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Hi Carl, yeah they were lovely, clean Atlantic rollers, not like we get over on the east side. Tight lines👍🎣
great video mate well done for fishing a filming in them conditions take care pal 🎣🎣👍
Cheers matey👍🎣
It should be rife in Kent area for bass surely. I’m in cold South Shields getting some decent size bass on the lures at night
@@wayne5240they’ve just not been coming into shore, but had a nice one out this morning. 👍
😊
@@JW-wp1qt class love it. I went out last night got another one on the white paddle tail. What lures normally do the job for you ??
I think I need to go into re-hab, I can't stop thinking about the next trip over there 😂
It's a good point about the 140, it could well be the noise that they get sick of.
Class as usual nath
Thanks Mick👍🎣
I've loads of marks you would love in cork and kerry bud.next time your over I will put you on some great marks
It's a total fishing nirvana over there, can't wait yo get back
I hope you don't mind me asking, what's your pb cod on lure from the shore? Ive just been watching your interview with full circle and you mention you still haven't had a double figure cod on lure and im just wondering what it is? On another note, great vid. really nice bass 👍
Not a problem, it's 7.1lb. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣
See how we go. Managed to get a couple at 5 or 6lb the other day pb smashed lol try again the night lol tight lines lad 🎣 mon the fish!!!
I’m from Waterford and have only taken up bass fishing with lures at the start of the year. To be honest it’s been a struggle for me yet to catch one 6 months on but we keep trying 🎣💪🏻
Keep casting mate, they're there. Just a case of figuring out where and when. This mark we fished is definitely worth a shot
Great to see ye in the Emerald Isle guys….. it’s been a disaster of a summer weather wise … not the best for sea fishing 😂😂
Did ye get to Brandon bay at all when ye were in Kerry??
Some great marks for spinning and bait fishing for Bass
Heading down early next month for a week of fishing…. can wait….keep the vids coming 🎣🎣
We fished near it but it was right in the eye of the wind, so we were limited to marks where the wind was on our backs. We'll give it a try next time. Hope you have a good trip and tight lines👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets it can be very windy down there all right!!
Some nice marks near Brandon pier…. To keep the wind at your back If there are western winds blowing
Went back a few hours later and they were gone.🙁
The rucksack is a 35l and the model is Sea to Summit Flow 35, not sure if they're still in production, unfortunately.
Tight lines
I don't mind the rain it doesn't spoil a session like the wind can. I'll defo be heading back🎣👍
Nice one buddy!
Thanks fellas. Hope you're getting amongst the fish👍💪🎣
I'm sorry you guys got crap weather over here for your trip😢 but dont write us off yet!
Don't worry, we weren't put off by the weather, it just wet the appetite to come back and try all the marks that were blown out. Tight lines👍🎣
class video as always
Glad you liked it👍🎣
What model patchinko was it ? Colour looks nice
I'm not sure, I lost my 500g so my mate lent me this one for the session. It's an older colour and I want to say Nacre but reckon that's wrong. Sorry i can't be any more help
@@SlippyLimpets all good hope to see some more awesome bass content this year 🙌
I wondered where you were
As in for this video, or the lack of videos?
@@SlippyLimpets Lack of videos, I'd guessed you were doing something
Nice video, well done
Can you tell me where is the spot, thanks
Thanks. I can't remember the name of the beach but it's on the Dingle peninsula in county Kerry, Ireland
Thanks
Do you fish with a fluorocarbon leader, if so what type?
I do, I've been using Seagur Ace Hard in various diameters for years and love it. Best on the market imo
It's been a while since i had my last bass, i think i need to get out and target em again, crackin fish to catch
Bass aren't the hardest fighting fish but the techniques needed to catch them are great fun. Hope you get amongst them🎣👍
Nice video was good to speak to you at Dunbar harbour mate it’s james 😃
You too James. Hope you get that conger soon👍🎣
Thanks mate got 2 runs again last night mist them back out tonight for some cod fishing this time
i fish 5-15 rods tend to cover all
try the north and ill give you a great trip!
Fáilte go hÉireann 👏🏼
Thanks! Loved it there
When are Ye coming back the bass are calling
your mate is splitting image of me lol
Tough British weather 😂 so unpredictable least yous got some fish though tight lines
Cannot whack it can you, gales, wind sunshine... all into one day. Tight lines👍🎣
👏👏👍👍

Showing bass fishing as it really is, rarely get perfect conditions
Yep, we've got to make the most of the fee time we have to fish. I'd never get out if I waited for perfect conditions
I've not seen them before but will look them up. Thanks for the tip
