Back 10 years ago I caught my first bass on the fly ! I’d spent a year trying 🤦♂️ Eventually a great bass angler round my way in Cork harbor said he’d put me on them . And sure enough he did . Had two in quick succession on a foam popper. Very addictive. Well done 👍
Nice one, you won't forget that first bass. Bass fishing up the East Coast has improved vastly over the years. Even around Dublin there are some decent spots. I've only had 2 blanks out of about 8 sessions this summer, and all on lures.
2 great Bass there or Doingean as we call them in the West. They're a great fighting fish. Very impressive fish and great video. Always nice to see some sea fishing every so often, let's in something new👍 Éisc go hiontach 🎣💪
Great stuff. I used to do a lot of lure fishing for Bass but at the moment have gone back to my coarse fishing. They are very different types of fishing but both have their charms. I'd say the way the climate is going the Bass will keep moving North in numbers.
Congratulations Simon on your successful Bass session. I've got the same monkey on my back up here in the northeast of England. As I've probably said before I was born and bred in Dorset so had plenty of accessable coastal bass spots. But up here in the northeast not so easy to find somewhere especially when casting from the shore and fishing alone. Safety comes first up here. Unfortunately there has been a few people who have been lost to the chase of Bass. Looking forward to seeing your launching of the boat. Bet your feeling under the weather quickly disappeared after that session, well until maybe 4 or 5 hours later lol 😂😂 regards mate 😄
Well done nice bass i lived beside the sea growing up and loved bass fishing havent done it for a while now as now living more inland, but u got me thinking .😁
Great catch Simon. I think they are few and far between in Ireland. South Coast of England Hampshire and Dorset and Devon is teeming with them. If you fished here no 4 blanks. I fished for them once in Devon with my brother in law off the rocks and caught 2 on an eddystone rubber eel and bubble float. I saw it hit the lure in the surf from behind a rock boulder. Great sport and well done on the catch. Someone I know caught an 11lber on mackerel deadbait while pike fishing in the hants Avon. Great angling
I think you have it the wrong way round ... northern Ireland has few bass but southern Ireland from Meath all the way around to clare is teaming with bass. There's a reason Henry Gilby makes his bass fishing videos and guides anglers in southern Ireland, kerry in particular, is because its the best bass fishing in Ireland and UK. Far fewer people with big bass
I caught only 1,bass was 8 pound . Fished in a,storm in wexford near Court town full mackerel ledgered about 70 yards out. Took in other rod 2am ,and about to go tripod fell over persumed was bad weather and joy 😊

Hey just a beginner, what would you advise as a beginner setup for a shore lure fishing like this for Mackerel, Bass
Heading to wexford soon. Hopefully I'll break my duck there 😉
