  • Are you new to using millets and finding it difficult to make roti with millet flour ???
This is because millets are gluten free which means they lack the sticky protein which makes it easy to make chapatis from wheat but it’s the same protein which is responsible for many health issues.
Though it gets much easier to make millet rotis with practice
This recipe will be your immediate saviour .
Millet Siri rotti is a millet vegetable roti which is full of veggies which makes it so healthy and tasty .
It’s so easy to make and requires no kneeding at all.
So do try it out and I’m sure you will like it

This is an all time favourite recipe in my family ...I can confidently say from more than half century, as my mother, akka and me all make masala rotti. Being traditional Ragi consumers we make Ragi rotti using all other ingredients as you have listed. Additionally we also add some coarsely powdered roasted groundnut. I personally prefer adding dill leaves or drum stick leaves. Instead of cucumber I add grated bottle gourd. Often I add grated green and red cabbages. All these make rottis colourful like a rainbow. I keep two pans so between rottis there is not much time gap. That is just optional.
We also used to grow and eat other millets like samai and navane. Over time eating millets other than Ragi disappeared in our part. In the recent years it has come back and taken the imagination of younger generation, which makes me so happy.
Thank you for this nicely made video. I like the nomenclature ‘Siri akki rotti’👍

Thank you Dr Sarala for this recipe . Akki rotti is my favorite. I have been struggling to know the correct method of making flour. Happy to know that flours can be made directly from unpolished millets too without soaking . However , I have following queries
    1. Are the health benefits same in both the cases
    2. No resting period required for flour made out of pre soaked millet?
    3. If pre soaked millet is dried completely, what is the logic behind soaking it . As per DR Khadar, soaking is required for fibres to absorb water but anyway this water gets dried.

    • @milletmagic6609
      @milletmagic6609  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. Yes
2 .you can rest it for 15 20 mins
3 . The inner fibre is soaked once
Second time it’s much faster and thus cooks and is digested easily

Do you have a list of US millet distributors? I only know of one and have ordered from them several times, but they are not always consistent and I always end up running out. My daughter is on the Siridhanya program for Crohn's and when we run out of millet, she gets worse again so your help would be appreciated. Thank you.
