then why not use armor? i know that some 90's bad style choices made armors unpalatable to fans, but they are useful, besides, a larger shield would restrict Cap's movement, he doesn't fight in tight formations like an ancient soldier, he moves and jumps around all the time, his shield is already as big a it can be.
Huh you know, since the round vibranium shield absorbed kinetic energy, it means it doesn't lose any energy whenever it bounces when he throws it meaning it could still maintain the same amount of energy when its first thrown even after bouncing a few times.
What if the prototype shield was like the Nerf shield, with a button or switch that caused the shield to retract, revealing two guns? That would be kind of hilarious, and kind of awesome. Mainly hilarious.
Here's what I think : Cap's gonna get his old shield back. Then it's gonna be broken, and then he's gonna get a new and improved shield, that being the prototype that we see in Iron Man. I'm pretty sure this theory could be shot down with ease because of continuity issues.
But... you left out the very greatest version of the shield and its wielder... The Plastic Bubble Shield, wielded by Reb Brown in the 1970's Captain America TV Movies. How could you have forgotten such an awesome titan in your list as Reb Brown?
Adamantium is harder to break than Vibranium. Vibranium actually cancels out a lot of the energy that does not break it by reflecting it back. Adamantium is Vibranium based, an alloy of it. Captain America's best shield is a combo of the two in both structure and layers. Nothing thrown bounces around like that without energy reflecting capability like something Vibranium based. Nothing endures Thor's hammer like a Vibranium-Adamantium hybrid shield without cracking and still totally repulsing with explosive energy.
in the original comic it was exactly that hybrid. (adimantium/vibranium) it was a one of a kind alloy crested by accident and unrepeatable . also according tot he original comics vibranium was not a component of adimantium vibranium only came from two sources, (Wakanda and the Savage Land) but both were meteorites, while Adimantium was invented by a scientist in the US. his original formula is lost but other people have created 2 or 3 lesser forms of it since... Yeah i know its complicated as hell but when you have so many writers creating so many different stories in the same world crap gets complex. "Shrug"

His new shield will be circular and have the ability to project a lightsaber blade around the edge of the shield allowing him to cut through almost anything when he throws it, turning it into an almost purely offensive weapon. Yup, this is totally 100 percent confirmed to be happening. Totally.

The original shield in the comics was not a vibranium/steel alloy, but a one-of-a-kind, Lost-formula, vibranium/adamantiam alloy. and was long considered one of the most indestructible objects in the entire 616 Universe. thus letting it absorb energy and be almost totally indestructible at the same time.
The vibranium Adamantium alloy of the shield was originally a typo in the first official handbook of the marvel universe. After that it was mistakenly called an Adamantium vibranium alloy.

@@The1larian I'm saying what i know and what i know is that it was revealed as a typo for the captain america page of the ohotmu but not in the Adamantium page in which the steel alloy part was a compound called proto-adamantium. In a way an Adamantium vibranium alloy maybe the closest thing to the chemical composition of that shield.
Plus in Avengers annual vol 3 2001, it is where it said that the shield has no Adamantium because Adamantium was made decades after the shield was made.

I find it rather surprising that Captain America apparently first fought Hitler in March 41, almost a year before we in America really came to be at war w Germany in December .

There were Americans flying against Germany before we entered WWI also. And there were Americans fighting for both sides in the Spanish Civil war. Tho they emphatically were not actually doing so as Americans in either case. Until after Japan attacked us and Germany declared war on us, I understand the predominant sentiment was strongly isolationist. So I do find it surprising that such an over the top symbol of America, as Captain America himself, was that engaged in some European conflict.
also from what i recall of the movie the inside was"gold colored' indicating it was made of brass or bronze (most likely bronze because that was not rationed during the war...)

Minute to Second 46 deflecting a minigun round is not that impressive when a human can hold the Minigun a week where would be so ridiculous that the biggest caliber you could have is 9 mm so deflecting minigun rounds is not that big of deal when a person's holding the minigun

Instead of improving the shield, maybe a better suit...maybe 1 that helps in fighting in space / low gravity.
