What an amazing man. Mr. Williams music is my head and heart! Sean you were so lucky to talk with him. Jason and Wil you were so kind. The Maestro, Bravo!
I have one person on my bucket list, not Harrison, Spielberg…. Just John The Man Williams. He explains the story, character, feel of every movie through his sound track! To understand how he tells each story and purely defines the meaning of each character, tone of the movie and extracts our emotion out of us ….. it’s truly genius. How do you feel a movie through sound and completely get it!!? I pray that one day I get to meet you and don’t make an idiot of myself.🙏 ty John!
Amazing interview guys! John Williams is truly one of a kind, and without him, I, like so many would never have been inspired to take up music as a career. Love him!
I listen to a lot of podcasts including all of yours, but this is the best one I have ever heard. Honestly, just to hear about the music and how it came together, especially Close Encounters. I absolutely loved listening to John and it could have gone on forever. 💗💗💗
What a magical episode, transported back to so many happy memories watching these movies for the first time. Great episode Smartless team, thanks a lot!
Wow - a great conversation - reminds me of Dick Cavett show interviews from the 1960s-80s (many on YT!). Please consider interviewing Dick Cavett, Carol Burnett, Dick Van Dyke, Mel Brooks - to mention a few.
What a lovely interview! Great questions Sean. And props to Will for reigning it in for this one. Had a chuckle in the end when he gloated about his restraint.
I hear his voice and he is the grandfather carrying on the legacy of composing and guiding it into the 21st century. ❤ I would like to write a musical based on the film using his score for Fitzwilly "Johhny Williams!" Of course the musical would star Sean Hayes as Fitzwilly. 😂❤ thank you Sean, thank you guys for this gift. HUG HIM FOR ALL OF US, Jason!! ❤❤🏌🎵❤️❤
The most memorable 5 notes from my childhood was settled on with “It’s fine.” Now my brain’s going silent even trying to imagine Close Encounters playing a different sequence.
@@thegoodgeneral Correct, Joseph isn't on "Africa," "Hold the Line," "Rosanna." He was only on two albums in the 80s but has since toured around with them. So yes, despite his career with Toto, his voice is probably most recognizable to everyone from "Hakuna Matata" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"
What a TRAVESTY!!!!! Absolutely NO mention of the "Johnny" Williams iconic Irwin Allen themes.....LOST IN SPACE! THE TIME TUNNEL!! LAND OF THE LOST!!! Shameful!!!😢
We are gonna need a John Williams Pt. 2, please and thank you.
Agree!! We need more time with this legend ❤️
Yes! THIS!!
I think we could aim for a full 8 hour shift, with a break for lunch. There’s still so much to ask him!
Legitimately the first time I have seen the guest and said, "wow!"
John williams is a legend . What an amazing man . This was a great listen 😊

The E.T. Last Reel/10-15 minutes is absolutely breathtaking. Love it so much.
John Williams has been my favorite for 42 years
HOW IS THIS MAN SO INTELLECTUALLY PRESENT AT 92!? 🤯
My great aunt is the same at 95.. age is a number, health is keeping active
Oh I love that man and his music. So brilliantly written, also so emotional and the man is so humble. My hero!!
John Williams Master Class on Perspective and Longevity.
One of the best John Williams interviews I've ever listened to!
HOMERUN SEAN!
By far the best podcast you've ever had. I love JW and I can listen to him for days. Amazing!

This one fed my soul. It says a lot that Will even dialed back his joke opportunities. Thank you!
What a lovely interview! Great questions Sean. And props to Will for reigning it in for this one. Had a chuckle in the end when he gloated about his restraint.
What a great conversation! So very cool. I loved hearing about the movies of my youth! Will be rewatching Close Encounters tonight!

Great get, maestro of movie music. Excellent questions.
You guys rock, thank you!
This is PURE GOLD.
This is such an unusual pairing. As a fan of both Arrested Development and Will and Grace, I never would have put the three of you with Johnny.
Nice how cool to be involved with all those big movies. Jaws was actually fun at the Hollywood Bowl…poor Maria

The only thing missing are the visuals!
Sean did not "yeah, yeah, for sure" Mr. Williams 😆💙
The 🐐himself
Excellent
Wow, just wow. This is the only podcast that's always good to the last drop. Maybe because it's chock full of nuts? (Will is rubbing off on me)
🤯
Hey there, guys. 👋🇦🇺 Thanks, from a chronic insomniac. Here's a groaner for you...
What did Mark Twain name his first born?
Choo Choo. 😏
John William's son is the lead singer in Toto... wtf! Every day's a school day.
JOHN WILLIAMS’S SON IS THE LEAD SINGER OF TOTO??!
Yes though he didn’t record the original Africa. Joseph *was* the singing voice of adult Simba in the original animated “Lion King,” though.

What was the silly Dad joke that Sean told on a recent episode? I've been racking my brain trying to remember it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring on the OG Mel Brooks before he kicks the bucket. We just lost comedy OG Bob Newhart at the lengthy age of 94
I think I could ask him better questions than those. Why ask the same questions that have been asked many times before?
What a TRAVESTY!!!!! Absolutely NO mention of the "Johnny" Williams iconic Irwin Allen themes.....LOST IN SPACE! THE TIME TUNNEL!! LAND OF THE LOST!!! Shameful!!!😢
This is the comment where you ask (politely) for the “PostCast” to come back 🥹🙇🏽♂️ -->
