Overall this was a great video, but I think things were a bit inconsistent with the "gender-neutral" aspect. You ruled out Clefairy and Jigglypuff for being pink, and then you mentioned Marill's blue coloring was too focused on boys. However, you called several more blue Pokemon throughout the list gender-neutral (such as Shinx, Riolu, and Froakie) without any acknowledgement of their color scheme. To me it seems your definition of gender-neutral wasn't specific enough, since coloring was only a focus of a few.

MandJTV Usually when I see friends commenting on each others videos its jokey in nature. Rare to see them actually giving constructive criticism on each other's content lol.
It would be pretty boring if I went through every Pokemon on the list and mentioned whether or not their color scheme was gender neutral or not. Each Pokemon on the list has a balance of things that put them on the list. If a Pokemon has a non gender neutral color, like Riolu, you'll notice that they have a lot of the other attributes that would make em a good mascot. I just didn't want to say the same thing over and over again, so you'll notice I brought up the color scheme numerous times in the beginning because I wanted it to be clear to the viewers. For example, I mentioned a bunch of times how evolution is important in the beginning of the video, but didn't mention it for Buizel, not because I wasn't thinking about it, but because by that point of the video the viewer should understand that point. It's not inconsistency, just omission, so the video won't get repetitive. - I also didn't "rule out Clefairy and Jigglypuff", just mentioned their "fatal flaw" like I did with basically every other Pokemon, which in their case, was their gender non-neutrality. Glad you enjoyed the video though :)

I vote Eevee as franchise mascot. Evolution is one of the franchise's recognizable traits and Eevee emphasizes that point. It's cuter than Pikachu IMO, especially when you can hear it giggle throughout the short that stars itself and its evolved forms. Additionally, Serena and May owned one, not to mention Gary m-f'in Oak and Virgil, which the latter had an entire team composed of Eeveelutions as well as Eevee itself. And perhaps the best part is Virgil's Eevee earned him the win in the Unova League.
But the thing is that Eevee, first of all, is four legged. Second, the color scheme is a bit boring. Third, it seems more like a pet than a partner.

Reznov Gardev Eevee's design wouldn't stand out enough to be recognized as a Pokemon, it's too normal, whereas many other types of Pokemon have striking colors or diverse designs. That's one of the biggest things holding Eevee back.

Rizizum Have it like Red's Eevee in the Pokemon Adventures manga. It was genetically altered and can change between its forms (at least Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon until it permanently evolved into Espeon)
I feel like Aipom could be a good candidate. It could appeal to someone for all the same reasons that Chimchar does but it’s hand on it’s tail could make it move in ways that Chimchar can’t.

I think Eevee makes a great mascot (and thank god for "Let's go Eevee!"). The reason is Eevee is genderneutral. It's brown but cute and fluffly. But the main selling point is the fact that eevee is a special snowflake, being able to evolve into so many different forms.

Its cute but it can be fierce, has a stylised tail, moves very similar to pikachu and is around the same size
However because its grey and its design it could be mistaken for an animal, not a pokemon and because its a normal type it may not be as ‘cool’ as pikachu but it can learn several moves that are similar/the same as pikachu like thunderbolt, aqua tail, iron tail, seed bomb and last resort

Imo Eevee can be a perfect mascot for Pokemon because:
-its a pokemon with different evolutions which represents the diversity of types and differencies of pokemons
-The appearance is cute and simple
-it can be useful now in strategy with his exclusive Z-move and Baton Pass
and its also one of the most popular and iconic pokemon in the world with Pikachu and Charizard

Touko it's kinda weird because eevee also evolves by happiness and sometimes even evolved not being in the circumstances it evolves in game and just evolve in normal anime tradition(example being Serena's eevee)

I think you rather skirted past Eevee without saying much about it. You say it looks, "too cute," but aside from that , it's EEVEE. I think beyond much of any doubt that Eevee would be the best Pokémon mascot contendant other than Pikachu.
I'm inclined to agree, Pikachu is no less cute and no more fierce than Eevee. Plus as the Pokemon the represents the concept of evolution one of the core concepts of the entire series Eevee deserves way more consideration than it was given.

Eevee would have the same problem as Riolu. It evolves via Friendship (Umbreon and Espeon), which means it can come off at is not being happy with its trainer.

It's not about cuteness or power for a mascot. Try to imagine wat image zorua would create during the time when pokemon wasn't famous. You have to consider different opinions of many kind of persons.(kid ,teen ,boy ,girl, battle obessed , adventurous minds etc)

I dislike how much special treatment pikachu gets. It has surf, fly, cosplay, ash hat forms, and two z moves. I'm so surprised i didn't give an alola from. Alola raichu is one of my favorite pokemon though.

You forgot to mention every time it is seen in battle, it either does one thing and faints, or just faints before it can do anything. I would like Pikachu if they would at the least make it more viable in battles because I really do feel bad for the kids who do go online with one and immediately learn that the game is different from the anime :(

Who says the trainer would have to keep it as an Eevee? The Pikachu not evolving thing was a thing only with Ash. Eevee would most likely evolve into one of the seven and it could work as it's gender neutral. Who says they have to do human tasks? Quadropeds could just go on their hind legs or jump up to grab something. They could do what happened in the manga where the Eevee owned by Red initally could change between the multiple forms.

We should be thankful that Pikachu is so popular. A lot of people forget that Pikachu being a mascot is the biggest reason why pokemon stayed relevant throughout these years. Calling Pikachu Overrated is true, but that's a good thing.

If Eevee was the mascot from the beginning, I'd say that Pokemon would even be slightly BIGGER now -- it's more diverse/unique/interesting, and it has appeals to everyone.. for example, Jolteon & Umbreon are cool, Glaceon & Espeon are majestic, Vaporeon & Flareon & Sylveon are cute, etc.
Eevee is also the most popular Pokemon, including its evolutions, and has the most merchandise other than Pikachu, and has been featured as a starter/star pokemon in the most games!
I think snivy would be a good mascot. It's pretty gender neutral, it's green so it's not more boyish or more girlish, and I think it's equal parts cute and cool. But that's just my opinion, what do you all think?

I think that snivy is a good choice because it looks like it would disobey Ash in the beginning, just like Pikachu. But the problem would begin once it evolves into a Serperior. It would lose it limbs and would be eliminated for that reason.
Probably what would hold him back is his evolutions. Servine is kind of meh, and Serperior lacks limbs, which isn't good for a mascot.

Pokémon is making Eevee literally the second mascot with Let's Go Eevee! It's cuter than Pikachu, but it's not a specific animal and everybody loves it. Eevee already is a mascot together with Pikachu in my opinion.

Of all these, I think Shinx is the best. It's brightly coloured, has a mostly masculine colour scheme, but is also adorable, so it appeals to guys and girls. I haven't met someone who doesn't like Shinx.
After re-watching this video, I have to say that at first I thought buisel was a good mascot, but there is one thing that would stop it. If it was popular (coz its the mascot) then most people would want it, therefore they have the water type for the team, meaning it wouldn’t be fair on poor Water starters

Emolga it's just like Pikachu, but better. It is not too much like a squirrel, gender-neutral, cute but fierce, and can show even more emotions by flying.
Emolga is perfect. One of my top 5 favorites of all time, and an upgrade on pikachu in every way.

I think riolu probably has the best chance. Also there's evolution cancellation by trainers and pokemon[in the anime], plus it has force palm and possibly aura sphere if it is a special riolu
IMO Espeon / Umbreon. That may be biased since they're my favorite Pokemon, but they're actually strong, cute, final evolutions, and can work a lot better as a bond of friendship pokemon since they only evolve when friendship is full. Much better than a yellow rat. :P

What about growlithe. It's cute yet intimidating. It's obviously a dog but has his stripes and colour so you won't consider it a normal dog. It's powers are flashy and it's pretty expressive. Only drawback is that it's a quadrapet.

I think Litten or Torracat would be a great mascot. At my school, it’s a favorite and what most people choose over Rowlet and Poppilio. He’s Gender Neutral and a badass pokemon in general. Its a cat, which is most appealing to girls, and he has a masculine color scheme. He’s cute and deadly, and easily recognisable. If not him then Eevee would also be great

Fun fact: Pink was once associated with boys and Blue was once associated with girls.
Mimikyu could work as a mascot, the only thing that might not work is the disguise. It could however, potentially work as some kind of a representation of Pokemon clothes designers as it is a creative Pokemon (it made the disguise, so it could also possibly make clothes for trainers).

I will sound really bias when saying Zorua could be a candidate, but I can say for certain it would be much better than atleast Sneasel (keep in mind this whole comment is really strongly my opinon, and l respect yours), I don't like Sneasels design, but it improves soooooo much upon evolving, Weavile would be better.
Zorua's Gang it can look like more directed to boys plus it's evolution might not go good with kids.

I'm still an advocate of eevee as an emergency replacement no matter what anyone says. Zorua would be really cool as well but a bit to dark lol.
Eevee could easily replace Pikachu! Here's why:
1: It's been around since the beginning
2: It's as popular, or more popular, than Pikachu among any actual fans
3: It is cute just like Pikachu (if not moreso)
4: It is not biased in favor of any one typing; it can be whatever the user wants for their team
5: In general it is one of, if not the, most interesting, unique and diverse Pokemon
6: It's been features in a lot of games prominently (Gary's Eevee in yellow, the Eeveelution Kimono girls in gen 2, its obtainable in almost every game, its the starter in Conquest, and Umbreon/Espeon are the main Pokemon in XD: Gale of Darkness)
7: It's a gender neutral pokemon - although Sylveon could be seen as feminine, and Jolteon as masculine, in general there is no gender bias for them
8: It's generally seen as a "good" Pokemon - very few 'bad guys' ever use an Eevee, only ever Umbreon, and rarely
9: There's tons and tons of Eevee merchandise, only rivaled by Pikachu in that regard
10: All the different evolutions are loved for different reasons -- Sylveon & Vaporeon for being cute, Glaceon & Espeon for being majestic, Umbreon & Jolteon for being cute, etc.
I could go on, but I think this is more than enough reasons to say that Eevee is the best for for the mascot! Let me know if you have any points against it, or things to add!

Late but eevee has problems going for it
1. It has way to many evolutions people will just grab it then evolve it then forget about it
2. Pikachu just has a better coloring, yellow is just the perfect color because it’s the color of the franchises logo while brown isn’t really as appealing
3. Like the person above me said eevee it’s quadruped and one the reasons why pikachu is the mascot is due to the anime, it can’t make any of the fierce movements that pikachu can

I loved Lucario to the new mascot of Pokémon, he is iconic and popular at the same as pikachu (when this is making no sense) I won’t another Pokémon for the new mascot than Lucario, Mewtwo, mew, rotom or even marill, I liked him so much

Raichu is my fave pokemon from the start, and his alolan form is great in my opinion. He's very cool-looking and still have a lot of cute factory, and it's color combination is more rich and creattive. He would certainly do well as a Mascoth if given a chance and not presented as a bully.

Pokémon Master being cute is subjective, but at least buizel hasn't been seen by all of us thousands of times which makes it at least more of an interesting candidate (besides fitting in all of the categories)

Buizel is definitely a top favorite of mine. Eevee and it's evaluations are first (but out of them all Eevee is actually top, since I was 8) and then after the Eevee's then it's buizel. And then in no order after that I also like Pikachu, furret, and poplio.
