@@croskerk the one in the Video for the U.S. Army. While the USMC uses the MADIS AD vehicle. It uses the same 30mm Cannon, radars, and 4 Stingers as the Stryker A1. Although it's mounted on an MRAP instead of a Stryker.
@C O U N T E R - C O M @C O U N T E R - C O M i figured, is the IM-SHORAD in service now correct? I havent followed up on this for a long time Though the Marine Corp sounds interesting to hear as well.
I feel like this turret should be more modular. They could make it have two Stinger pods, or 4 Hellfires for an anti-armor/fire support role. They could even have other rocket pods like ones mounted on helicopters. It's a vehicle with potential in other roles.
Not really. The turret has a bunch of expensive AD equipment like radars and stuff on it that just wouldn't be needed in an anti-armor role and make the turret quite vulnerable to direct fire. A better idea would be to figure out how to attach TOWs or Hellfires to the Dragoon 30mm turret.
God bless and protect all the soldiers that are there risking their lives to protect freedom 🙏❤️ Stay safe guys and hope you all come back home soon and safe
I never realized they used the whole Stinger tube in something like this. I always thought they just stuffed a bare missile into the tubes, like a Hydra rocket.
Looks impressive but plz use a small crane to transfer the hellfire missiles- it might be faster and more efficient! Hopefully they are faster at reloading during an actual contact.
a lot of strange solutions - from manual loading, not container type, to the derailment of the rocket from the guide rail and possible orientation to the sides and some very slow acceleration speed
most logical thing is this is going to Stryker Brigades. Heavy Brigades don't use Strykers and Stryker brigades don't use brads. If the set up works its not that hard to adapt to larger platforms in the future. Army wants to retire the Bradley in the future either way.
It should have a GAU 8 instead of just this 30mm canon.... The GAU is 30mm too. If it would have that, it would be the most awesome machine imaginable!
@@andretempler why is Rotary important? the 30mm is intended to take down small drones or slow moving targets with air-burst rounds. Anything moving faster will have a stinger shot at it.
Ukraine urges those beasts. IM-SHORAD would be great against Russian cruise missiles as well as against russian Aircrafts. Programmable ammunitions are great. 4 AESA plates don't give a hole .
It has enough fire power to take down dozens of contacts and there are more than one running around at a time. We also fire and move reload under concealment. A trained team can reload in under 2 minutes. This video is from early testing. They were still deciding how to write the book or reloading safely and efficiently.
I believe that was a ground attack test for the hellfire since it can attack both air and ground. Shorads are also made for low alititude threats such as drones or low altitude planes so stingers and jammers should do fine.
really dumb choice to select this kind of design for an Air defense system, want to reload that heavy hellfire missile also very troublesome. only the stinger launcher is and ideal Anti-air
Budget cutting. An awkward car with a bunch of flaws. Wheelbase (very low cross-country). Short range missiles. The rate of fire and accuracy of the gun is very low. Large size and weight. And a big price. It was just necessary to attach the Stryker chassis somewhere))) So we decided to master the people's money.
I'm glad the U.S. Military is stepping up it's SPAA game.
What is the current mobile air defense vehicle US is currently using? Not the patriots, but the other SHORADs (if only the ADATS was a thing)

Crane is one more vehicle you have to load up on a trailer, and unload it. Opposed to being able to hop right out and get to work.
Can't wait to see this in War Thunder :^)

Glad the US Army is taking aa more seriously. But what a tiny radar unit.
I would say average sized. Maybe the radar has a good personality?
drone jammers
They should incorporate the rolling airframe missile RAM for the spaag role?
The RIM-7 is massive so probably not. But the Hellfire rails can also carry AIM-9X.
Thought this was going on the Bradley. Idk if I'd feel great being a jack of all trades, master of none.

The GAU-8 is the size of a VW Beetle, it'd never fit on a Stryker.

Hellfire for a drone is a bit of overkill?
how much damage can that one drone cause if it guides in artillery? the 30mm cannon also exists.
