in fact the handbrake has a separate connection via usb where your pc will recognize it as a generic joystck control.
After that it depends on the game, you will need an external program to configure and be able to use it.
In the case of DiRT Rally, the game could not accept two controllers at the same time. So I downloaded a program called Xpadder, this program simulates your joystick control as keyboard input, that is, when you click any button on the joystick control, a keyboard button is being activated on the computer.
That is, as DiRT Rally recognizes the steering wheel itself and the pc keyboard at the same time, I configured this Xpadder to recognize the handbrake as a keyboard. So I can get it to work, when I pull the handbrake the keyboard space button is activated.
In Forza Horizon you don't need it, because the game itself has a system to recognize several inputs, so you can connect the handbrake and the steering wheel without problems
Then google about Xpadder if you want.
