I worked for Gen Mattis at SACT/NATO. This man NEVER walked by without saying a sincere good morning/hello/how are you.... Of course I was just a nobody, but he never made me feel that way. I wish I had his address just to send him a thank you for your influence. Such a great example.

When I was on Active Duty he would act like it was never a big deal for him to be around...He always wanted to know more about his personnel, I caught him once talking to my HN when he was visiting our Exercise area, just chatting. “Where are you from? What do you want to do with yourself? Why did you decide to be a corpsman?”
I have served under several Generals and Admirals but never one like him, the only one who honestly cared.

Nobody wants peace more than the man holding the rifle.

Gen. Mattis is the model of the disciplines of the Marine service. He's very patriotic to America and America's own security and safety. He is great.

“It is essential to understand that battles are primarily won in the hearts of men. Men respond to leadership in a most remarkable way and once you have won his heart, he will follow you anywhere.” - Vince Lombardi
You have won the hearts of your men Mr. Secretary, we will follow you anywhere.

General Mattis is a living embodiment of what the Marine Corps is all about. There are many men whom are wrongly revered, Gen. James Mattis is not one of them, the reverence bestowed upon him is wholly legitimate, he stands head and shoulders above all men, he is a brilliant, honorable man and will be remembered kindly and often by history. Mattis is a legend in his own mind. He failed to uphold his oath as an American leader of character when he betrayed the President of the United States of America because of his personal liberal political ideology.
