After that I went to A/1/8 which was at Camp Geiger, miles away from the main base. The only thing there was the NCO School, gas chamber (CS gas), and the 8th Regiment. Kind of funny. Going through Parris Island in 72, everyone went to Geiger for a week of training. Transported in a cattle car. When I went to 1/8 in 75 as a corporal, I lived in the same barracks I was in as a pvt in 72.
@1582len I started out as a 3531 truck driver for 9 months, my last 3 yrs I was an Office Poggy 0151 Personnel Sgt. I think I'm the only Marine with "Zero" Sea Duty. You're right, Camp Geiger miles away from Mainside.
