They filmed the entire season in my home country of Canada, Alberta to be specific. This episode featured the locations of Canmore Engine Bridge, the actual town of Canmore, Mount Royal University and South Alberta Institute of Technology both being used as the Colorado Campus, and Horseshoe Falls Dam in Bow River.
This really is my favorite episode as a father they captured every fathers fear of failing and I can’t imagine he already failed once but to fail again especially after failing Tess and knowing you’re deteriorating plus this has my favorite scene in the game.
For some reason the sound of Ellie's voice talking about losing everyone except for Joel reminds me of the Robert the Bruce's father in Braveheart talking about betrayal
So Ellie's voice actor (Ashley Johnson) plays D&D with a group of other voice actors. One of her friends (Laura Bailey) plays a character named Jester who I swear has a similar accent to your's. It's great. I know that's random, but that's all I could think about while listening.
A couple of quick comments Bliss. Great post. I enjoy your insight and comments. Much of this episode is the same as this part of the game. There are some major changes, which I won’t discuss so as to not spoil anything. The closing Depeche Mode song is sung by the director of the show’s daughter. He asked her to reprise the song as if she had lost and was mourning her father. I think it’s heartrending. The original version was played at the end of episode 2, indicating they were heading into danger. The injury to Joel is true to the game. Also, a minor issue, I’m Joel’s age in the game and show. And I don’t feel old 😅
24:24 To me I find it interesting that he changes what he wants to do. In my view it has to do with him opening up to Tommy and finally "speaking his voice".
This is very close to what the game is like. This episode was beautiful. I loved it. My favorite part of your reaction is when you screamed and jumped at the monkeys lol. See you on Twitch Biss.
Hi Biss hello All . I just watched the full episode of this on her Patreon and I must say it was well worth it. But... my ears are still ringing. Or I should say my ears are ringing louder than usual. As for the episode it was also my favorite so far, I think it was the humor mixed with the drama, Loved the man and wife in the cabin. Great reaction Biss keep up the good work and as always keep it cute.
21:47. More or less, you asked. (I did delete something I said about the game, though, cuz you said at the end no game spoilers.)The game is a lot different in that it’s a game, you got to shoot and craft and loot, etc., so they cut a lot of the shooting and fighting out, but the core of the story is exact, down the the exact lines from the cut scenes in the game!
Really good episode. My favorite is still ep 3. Your reaction adds a lot to watching this show again. I wonder if you played the pc game and how you liked it? I think the pc games you were playing when I first started watching you on twitch was Diablo 4 and Valorant 3 1/2 months ago. By the way your Twitch interaction with your chat is beautiful. I have 180k cookies. 😊😊😊❤
So far there are only minor differences from the game. Its also the point in the game where you stopped playing as Joel and started playing as Ellie. What that means... well I won't spoil it.
Since everyone knows that Ellie's biggest fear is to end up alone, there is just as much pressure on her at that moment. Both have a panic attack at the same time.
I think they filmed in Alberta, Canada. Maybe someone else can confirm this. Did you notice that in the wide drone shot of the bridge, members of the crew were visible? Kind of a "Starbucks cup" moment for Last of Us.
In the game, Ellie DID run off without anyone, and finding her was a bit in the game. She had somehow gotten past a group of baddies the Joel and Tommy had to fight though. But once you were done with that, and a bit of drama, you just show up at University just like the show.
Of course, Joel can die in the series. This was originally planned for the first game. Neil Druckman wanted him dead, the studio didn't want that. In the game there were infected monkeys. However, that is not the case here. There is a reason why Henry is shown again at the beginning. That was for the fans, because that's exactly how the cut had been made in the game. One shot, then black, then dam. The reason why Joel doesn't teach Ellie much or let her do it things is that she wouldn't be cargo anymore. Such things create a mutual connection that Joel did not want until then. He doesn't want to give her the option to take care of him. Just like Sarah did back then. I mean she did the housekeeping, made sure he wore his shirt the right way around ect. That the dog detects an infection is nothing new and was shown to us by Merci in episode 1. Dogs also detect cancer and other diseases. The dog here has noticed that something is wrong with Ellie, but he has also noticed that there is no danger from her. Something Fedra's detectors can't detect. They only know green and red, just like Fedra know only black or white. Maria to Ellie: "Be careful who you put your faith in. The only people who can betray us are the one we trust." Probably the most important sentence of this episode if not of the whole series. Joel to Ellie: "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon." This sentence says so much. Joel already connects Ellie's dreams with his. Ellie drank from Joel's liquor and it was "STILL gross". That was a callback to the DLC. Next episode Ashley Johnson (Game Ellie) will properly get an appearance in the Ellie Flashback (Game DLC). This episode was a feast for everyone who played Part 2. we met Dina, properly Jessie, Shimmer, Bison Bar, sheep, kids playing snowball, Astronauts, Jackson see from the inside. Simply fantastic. The campfire scene was not in the game, but was originally supposed to be included. Druckman said he can now finally show more through the series than was possible in the game. To be honest, it would have been better if this scene had been involved with this dialogue. Then certain comments from fans regarding moral questions would quickly fall silent.
I wasn't thrilled about that painful recap at the beginning. However I enjoyed the episode alot, especially the heartfelt/vulnerable moments, and Ellie's sarcasm. She is a sarcasm jedi That silly monkey 🐒 got you Bisscute love the jump scare. I hope Joel gets medical help very quick. Maybe Joel's brother decided to go check on them and will show up to help. I don't know what's going to happen, but I saw GOT So I'm very worried about season 2. I haven't played either version of the game nor has the vast majority of viewers. I hope HBO understands that Joel and Ellie/their relationship is the main reason most people watch. On a side note: My father is very good at the loud Whistle. As a kid I could be playing outside at a friend's about a mile or more away and still hear his Whistle calling me home.
"You're not my daughter. And I sure as hell ain't your dad." The circumstances are somewhat different in the game, but the dialog and the emotions are very similar.
Bis, In the game, Ellie does look more like a kid (11-12) so that scene with Joel Denying her as family is particularly Sad. Because the actress playing Ellie looks older the impact of this scene in the Series is limited. Most females playing the game loose their S*it when Joel does this act trying of one last time to stay unattached. You can go to WARRIOR CHICK's channel playthrough of The last of US, chapter 9, at 47 mins, 10 sec to see what I mean.
Hi Bisscute! I just started watching a few weeks ago. Can you react to more Star Wars? Maybe Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series), It tells you what happened between Movies episode 2 & 3.
Thank you for watching the video, It means a lot to me .

I recognized the elderly couple from Northern Exposure right away!!! What a delightful Easter Egg.😄
8:00 Your dad might have wanted a son but he got one heck of an awesome daughter.
They filmed the entire season in my home country of Canada, Alberta to be specific. Nice nice
26:18 yes he broke his neck , it’s the exact sound used in the game when you strangle someone
This really is my favorite episode as a father they captured every fathers fear of failing and I can’t imagine he already failed once but to fail again especially after failing Tess and knowing you’re deteriorating plus this has my favorite scene in the game.
When Ellie asked Joel about hunting, I thought to myself "Biss probably knows how to hunt." 😄
For some reason the sound of Ellie's voice talking about losing everyone except for Joel reminds me of the Robert the Bruce's father in Braveheart talking about betrayal

i could listen to you talk all day, that accent is beautiful
21:54 Yes, in the game they do visit Tommy and they get a horse from his place.
This is very close to what the game is like. This episode was beautiful. I loved it. My favorite part of your reaction is when you screamed and jumped at the monkeys lol. See you on Twitch Biss.
3:47. She was fourteen when we first seen her.
2:54. Non infected people, just people that were dead.
Leaving a comment to help with the algorithm and let you know that all your hard work is much appreciated 😊👍💪❤️
23:23. I agree!

Facts. Me and my sister can talk about anything
The series was filmed in Alberta, Canada.
The wife at the beginning was on the TV Show Northern Exposure
What did the fish say when he hit the cement wall?……..DAMN !😏
Look all I can say is…
No one lives forever
See you next week 😅

[3:04] What's infected and what's not? Simply meaning not all the dead were infected, implying human on human homicide/murder.
It was filmed in Canada. I have a spare room if you ever want to visit.
happened in the game but other things also happened
This was filmed near Calgary Alberta, Canada
7:00 - zero emotions... 3-2-1 - sexy laughs.
So far there are only minor differences from the game. Its also the point in the game where you stopped playing as Joel and started playing as Ellie. What that means... well I won't spoil it.
Monkey jump scare haha
A little real world tip. Don't add pressure to someone having a panic attack by saying things like, "If you die Im' fucked."
Since everyone knows that Ellie's biggest fear is to end up alone, there is just as much pressure on her at that moment. Both have a panic attack at the same time.
I think they filmed in Alberta, Canada. Maybe someone else can confirm this.

3:50 Ellie is 14, probably 14 and a half right now.
Love you
5:06 I don't think it is really a dream about raising sheep more about Joel wishes Ellie was quite and did what she was told.
Love you diosa ❤ thank ❤ your ❤

Yes, there are some things that make the series better and above all more logical than the game.

I'm sure the drink in the little flask was Bourbon or Tennessee Whiskey .

Prayers up for Joel and eventually Ellie bc she won't know what to do without Joel. RIP to them both.
Fortunately, they are both saved by the Mandalorian and Grogu. Ooops! Spoiler....
