- Woodworker, Michael Thompson has taken it upon himself to create a functioning bike from nothing but wood. In this awesome look into the science of creating a fully operational bike, Thompson describes the ideation and process of crafting a bike made almost entirely of wood. Watch him at work in his woodworking studio and see what he has dubbed the "Splinter bike" in action.

You sir are my hero. I Want one
Bem artesanal esse estilo 😉👌👌👏👏
Awesome
Толково !!! Зачёт !!!
Amazing
those rims are works of art by themselves, id be scared to ride this thing, it would be like using one of Monet's canvases as an umbrella.
Awesome looking bike, I would buy. It would be amazing if you could make a full sus frame using some sort of leaf spring design.
A wooden bike, very cool!
You’ve got to see Montauk Hardwood Bikes, gorgeous!!
amazing
رائع وفنان
great bike
i;m making my own wooden bicycle. its queit relaxing working on it ^.^
That is a Gorgeous Bike to! It would make a good beach cruiser bike, riding up and down the boardwalk, I think it would look better with the BeachCruiser style handlebars and seat....and those seats are so comfortable!,So that way the bike would be more comfortable with the seating and peddling position. Great job though.
That's pretty cool
wow! it's so cool, I wish that, it's for sale
love your bike, about to build full suss mtb (well starts working out if my shonky skill plus the rather lacking equipment can do it), the gears have to be around the crank, and the rear disk with drive/braking chains running to the rear within the rear triangle. no computers, pencil , rule and a wafer of delusion.
watching your vid has inspired to commit.
great story
Are the tires made from a rubber tree.thats great craftsmanship.never seen the like.
that is beautiful
Gostei👏
I got one thing to say: Whoaaaa!
So cool , what type of wood did you use ? what is the total weight of the bicycle ?
Nice! One thing: the seat post is way too long, but its just a minor problem, it can easily fixed by changing the frame geometry.
Like. Gostaria de aprender essa técnica
The original Tour de France riders used bikes with wooden wheels; they were considered safer for braking since the wheels dissipated the heat from braking more than metal wheels (and the glue holding the tires on could heat up and the tire could roll off the rim with metal.)
Must be comfy!
i like it. Are you gonna make the fork out of wood and use wood tuffs instead of steel spokes?
inb4 wooden aerospoke
@IPA SOLÉ goes next to my tool grade plastic and food grade asbestos
Makes me think how well would bamboo work as material for a project like this.
a work of Art! What type of wood was used?
Got the answer:
American Black Walnut and European Birch
this is ART ....this is not stupid....
Looks nice. How much does it weigh?
beautiful bike great work my friend
Wonderful. I’m just wondering if your tires could be 100% natural rubber? I know they ‘wood’ wear quicker than modern synthetic mixed tires, but just thought I’d ask.
amazing craftsmanship
you need to make a wooden fork that matches the frame diameter .
like a horse and carriage go together .
tha's one good looking design...
This guy was on George Clarkes amazing spaces
Could we get a blueprint and/or instructions on how to built one ourselves? Thank you!
Donde estan sus tiendas para adquirir una de ellas aqui en usa
I was fired up to see the wooden fork.
God! I want one.

LOOK at the number of subscribers~! I think I'll start building wooden bikes too~!
"maybe the wooden wheel was the best wheel" yeah, take that out on the trails and see how much fun you will have.
A guy in Colorado used to build these out if his garage in the 90s
Red Bull why are there never any videos about the BC1 All Stars
What's it weigh and how does it ride and climb?
This viddy yo gave me woody
Looks like the ultimate hipster bike...
Very Good,Can I get the design sir.
I know to build things properly it takes at the minimum two tries . Builders learn from the mistakes on the first build and improve the second build . I know that I couldn't pull of a decent wooden bike on the first build .
If its so great, where can I get one?
Let It Burn!
luxurious touring HolyBike
Too expensive and heavy.
Skilled master!
Now start over and this time, genetically modify a tree to grow into a fully functional bike. I will bet a coin too.
