Pearl Jam - Little Wing Maggot Brain - 070995 - Milwaukee WI

- Text from fivehorizons.com : For the encore, Chad Smith (RHCP's drummer) joins PJ and a fascinating version of the Hendrix classic, 'Little Wing.' They jam for about eight minutes, mutating into 'Maggot Brain,' a funkadelic song from the 70s penned by Eddie Hazel. Mike's guitarwork leaves the crowd (and the rest of the band apparently) awestruck. It was later reported that Mike was hospitalized after the two Milwaukee shows due to dehydration and exhaustion.

In the 2 years or so that this video has been online, I've probably seen it a hundred times...and I never fail to get shudders every single time I watch it. You're the best Mike, keep on rockin' in the free world.
This is crazy. Love Pearl Jam, Chili Peppers, Hendrix and Funkadelic.. Put together is intense.
I heard a little Wesley Willis too
jimi and eddie never lived to see the fruits of their labors or their legacies.
I was there. My head almost exploded it was so good
Eddie ' The Great ' Hazel his legend lives on, sad thing is most people didn't know of him outside of the Rock gods ... Eddie was the greatest, no one could touch him, in all my 47yrs i've never heard Rock guitar played the way Eddie played.. Eddie was the One, Jimi knew it the moment they met... Great job Mike, The Great one would be proud...
This might be hands down the greatest performance of all time.
Look up Buckethead- Interworld.. The older one. You're welcome.
Pretty fuckin close, g. Pretty fuckin close.
Close but srv gets the prize 👌
@@waydebaker33 no
@@GeorgeTropicana you're a liar.
This is one of the best versions of Maggot Brain I have ever heard....and I've been hearing Maggot Brain since 1970.
Rest In Peace, Eddie. Your music lives on and I'm missing the heck out of you. p.
I agree! RIP Eddie Hazel.
Yeah me three
whoever you are who took this video, you are quite simply the biggest don ever. Maybe my favourite live video ever.
the coolest fucking thing about this is there are two videos of that exact performance
They don't have rock n roll any more I'm glad this was my era the last of the grunge. Long hair. Leather and loud rock music that gives you tears ,chills, and smiles
before now I didn't think much of Pearl Jam but that has to be the best cover of Maggot Brain I have ever heard, my respect for this band has tripled!!!
I think MIke is incredibly underrated. Everyone was saying that Slash was the next Jimi back in the 80s. The truth is, if anyone was going to be the next Jimi, it was Mike. Check out Yellow Ledbetter and Alive by Pearl Jam. McCready is amazing.
I hope the guitar was of legal age back in 1995. Mike just made sweet love to it.
This has to be the best cover of Maggot Brain ever recorded.
Kudos Mike McCready, you've just gone up a few notches. Fantastic musicianship, Jimi and Eddie would be proud of you ☘👏👏😎
This is honestly my vote for one of the greatest solos of all time.
Praise God that was the best cover of "Maggot Brain" ive ever heard.. I never really got into pearl jam before (mainly because i didnt know any of their songs), but shit i do believe i need to educate myself on these guys.. A++ solo
The most underrated guitarist of ALL time.
am i the only pj fan that can't seem to get enough of this 9 minutes and 53 seconds of pure delight? anyone els?
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then McCready just flattered the F*** out of 2 of the giants of guitar (Hendrix and Hazel). Now if he'd do a JEFF BECK tune, he'd have the trifecta of ultimate playas! Thanks for posting that.
He has Mike mccready himself doesn’t need to do covers ❤
I can't believe they've only performed this once. What I would give to see this live....
Theres only one Mike Mccready....Mike gives Pearl Jam that Peal Jam sound....Long live Mike Mccready. In my opinion the most under rated guitarist of all time, Hats off to Mike Mccready.....
One of the best rock solos ever. Both for guitar tones, feeling, instict, and rage....and for band interplay. Drums and rhythm guitar so willing to support instead than bore. Mike is the best living guitarist.
I just had to listen to it a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th time, this is heaven to my ears.
I just can't find words to describe the feels.
To hell with what all of the detractors of Pearl Jam has to say..... That Maggot Brain solo was the shit, and if you deny that fact you are on something...
in my opinion, greatest cover song and solos by pearl jam
WOW. I was at this show with my wife. Drove from Chicago. Amazing show. I remember that night, besides playing this amazing song, they opened with ACT OF LOVE from Neil Young and blew everyone away.
like three of my favorite things rolled into one eargasm of awesomeness
What a wonderful feeling.
2 OF THE BEST GUITAR MASTERPIECES EVER.................. PERIOD
I always tought Mike mcready was overated...
Now this makes me wonder, that he's actually underated
You were lost, now you're found. Welcome, my friend
+You're Adodpted he has a great ear for tones and uses his effects very smartly, he isn't the greatest player technicallity or theory wise but his precision and ear for tones and melodic playing is what makes him great!
Jake Connelly
Can't argue with that :)
@@Megamando93 Yes, I couldn't have said it better.
@@Megamando93 it’s almost like precision, tonality, and melody make for a great guitarist... he’s come a long way from that random night ona couch playing srv at a party
the audio is fantastic for a phone... one of the best Maggot Brains i've ever heard!
Lmao this video was taken WAY before phones had cameras
Whoo, he did his thing. I got much respect for Pearl Jam now.
amazing... shivers running up and down on the back...
Much Props to Pearl Jam, They Know whats up.
stunning. love the Maggot Brain
cannot stop listening, awesome
Great performance especially with chad smith.
Let me shed some light on to this performance. McCready was so dehydrated after this performance that he was taken to the hospital. And all you people who just listened to the first 3-4 minutes of this video and dismissed him, please hear it to the end, 7-9 mins is where your spine will tremble the fuck out. I'm not a huge fan of McCready, but this paticular song, every time I hear it I feel like he could have been something else.
srjndots I feel Mike .. and you ... 🙌🏻🙌🏻
"And all you people who just listened to the first 3-4 minutes of this video and dismissed him, please hear it to the end, 7-9 mins is where your spine will tremble the fuck out. "
Maggot Brain is one of the best songs ive ever heard. And almost no one in the audience cheered when he said they would play it? wtf
srjndots MCCREEDY is the fkn man, he could have been somthing else??? Wtf... you dont know MCCREEDY obviously!! One of the most underrated ever!!! He is a bad ass!!! Also listen to Temple of the dog REACH DOWN!!
best version (cover} I have ever heard...Saw PJ in concert several times and got to admit I did not see this coming from Mcready
One of the best guitar solos i've ever seen.
This encapsulated every raw emotion as the original, love it 🤘🏼✌🏽❤️
one of the few bands that can do this justice
God bless the person who took this video. And such good quality.
McCready the man
Wow. I am an avid pearl jam fan but i didn't think they could pull off hendrix. The boys did a great job. thanks for the post
I love both versions of this song pure passion put into this song love it
One of the best live bands out there. Even if you don't like their music, you will enjoy their show. Amazing. Covering Maggot Brain helps too.
Huge props on the sound quality. And, as a pfunk fan, I can tell you this is a bad ass version of Maggot Brain. I love the Little Wing intro as well.
Mike Mccready is a true Guitar hero!
Nailed Eddie Hazel's feeling: very beautiful
I had this show on cassette tape back in the day...never seen this footage, thanks for posting :)
I saw it...I loved it...wonderful! Eddie is great!
I've had a mp3 of this for years...it's always been one of my favorite PJ moments...I never in a million years would have thought there was video! Thank you SO much for posting this!
This so good, great guitar work, thanks to whoever recorded it , and thanks to youtube for bringing it to the public.
he still pulled it off dude
he plays Like a god in this one..
Pearl jam are still as good as they were before, if not better. The are still evolving after all these years.
Este tema me hace viajar a otro mundo , tantos recuerdos ... Tanta belleza
an amazingly awesome homage at that!
3 of my favorite combined. This is the heaven on Earth I've been looking for..
My favorite band covering one of my favorite songs of all time, thanks for this.
I love it when a cover is as good as the original. Santana covers this well also. The Hendrix song seems rushed, but he hits the stride on Maggot Brain.
1. Great sound for an amateur in the crowd recording. Thanks to whoever recorded it for letting it be shared.
2. Mike looks like he is in the middle of a speedy acid trip (MDMA?) His fingers moved so fast it was magical.
+Johnny Campbell There are some seriously great quality recordings of the 95 shows.
+Johnny Campbell dehydration = MDMA :)
What an awesome Solo! I just listened to that three times and want more
hey, lets take on of the greates songs by the one of the greatest guitarists and then take another great song by another geat guitarist.. now let it be covered by pearl jam. epicness. true epicness.
Fantastic audio quality thanks for the post.
Thanks for this video. Really!!!
always gives me chills
Thanks for this post !!!
I love pearl jam so much. My favorite band.
I think I can die happy now that I've heard this
one of the best solos i have ever heard in my life
holy shit. those are some awesome covers
the best maggot brain cover i ever heard. very emotional in detail and strong in expression. eddie would love it!
Awesome! Maggot Brain is one of my favorite tunes. Eddie Hazel was such an underrated guitarist. Nice to see Mike paying homage.
these are 2 of my favorite songs
R.I.P. Eddie and Jimi!
I hope you 2 are jammin' together now
And not a single cellphone in sight.
Just and only because they didn't have good cameras that time. Overcome that and enjoy the show as you want..
Now, there's a man just murdering his craft, out fucking standing....
Awesome. I am speechless.
LOL. I feel the same way whenever I hear someone cover Hendrix. But Pearl Jam covers EVERYONE they personally have a great affection for musically.
It's all love from their end.
one of the best ones on youtube..
LOVE IT!
eddy hazel 1 of the greatest guitarists in any genre of music....ANY GENRE ..period!
Thanks Mike :) awesome ...
Amazing, Just.... Amazing! One of the absolutely best solos ever!
Ok, this is nuts! WOW!
I wished I got to see this tour. Bad Religion opening.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
amazing
Whatta great version... Yeah...
Eddie was so much more than Jimi in my opinion. Eddie's influence was such a pivotal facet of the whole P-Funk family, and the emotion in his playing is unparalleled.
Most definitely does both Jimi and Eddie justice in this cover, damn I wish I could see that in person.
mike dont die, please dont die
Yes please do not die
Fantastic audio quality! and Chad Smith on the drums awesome!
AWESOME
BEST VERSION EVERRr!!
DANG what a great rendition, gives me chills!!
Notice how you only need one camera to catch the essential experience of a concert, not 10 000.
I went to the PJ 20th anniversary concert in Vancouver. I didn't record any of it. I went home and knew for a fact that there'd be videos of it on youtube. There are, and I saved myself some battery life.
this is awesome....
YES YES YES!. Wesley willis and hendrix and maggotbrain. too perfect. rock over london rock on chicago!
I love you for filming this.
Pearl Jam somehow is "heavy" like CREAM was...can't define it, but the guys in Pearl Jam have it. Thanks, fellas.
I wanna hug Mike for this cover
