      Honestly, this show has to be one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I was just watching the old star trek with picard and then switched to this. The difference is astounding. Star trek actually seems really realistic in comparison.
      This show, "lost in space", is the dumbest thing, where a bunch of dumb children keep on saving the world. And they do it by this constant endless girly "motivatory" talk like, "are you feeling okay? omg this is so hard, but we can do it if we stick together. The Robinson family is the most important thing in the universe right now, because we love each other. We can do anything". Yikes!

    • @marioluigi9599

      It's the cheesiest cringe inducing thing and makes the whole show seem sooo unrealistic and unrelatable. Not to mention all the scientific facts that they got wrong, but never mind about that. I can't believe people actually enjoy watching such cringefests.
      A stupid little 14 year old girl is the "captain" and a grown man astronaut with presumably years of training can't fly the spaceship as good as her and then gets admonished by her, after which he sincerely apologises to his "captain". And then there's that dumb boy, the hero of the show "Will Robinson" who is all about his "heart" which gives him magical invulnerability and power, and basically makes him into the leader of the society who can do anything. Never mind all the adults around. In fact, the adults are the dumbest people on the earth and have chickens on their shoulders which they care for whilst in space. Cringe overload and soo unrealistic.
      I'm glad they ended this show. I don't think there was much more cringe they could have squeezed out of that anyway. It got extremely cringe repetitive after a while.

    I think the robots were created to be an invasion force and were treated as tools. SAR rebelled but it's hatred for it's masters twisted it to destroy any organic lifeform. The reason being, by Will's interaction, any sentient organic can "imprint" on a robot, making that robot have a master. SAR didn't understand Will wasn't Robots master, it was his friend.
    SAR simply didn't understand the idea of friend. Only master and servant, and it refused to be a servant.

    • @Fleshi_Guy615
      @Fleshi_Guy615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Perhaps not any organic lifeform, just intelligent life in general, as to secure his position as a free creature and extinguish the possibility of being controlled.
      His twisted worldview makes it impossible for him to see intelligent life as benevolent and he can't understand why Robot would willingly protect will if he wasn't being controlled. SAR is probably my favorite antagonist in a Netflix TV show, and season 3 surprisingly gave his character depth and motivation.

      If they do a chapter 2 I like the Idea of a Jupiter 2 class exploration ship, first ship with human made drives, receiving a signal from Will Robinson and his android friend saying they are lost and can't get home. An they have to go an find them and track their path through space.

      Oftentimes throughout the series, when a Robot comes to empathize with a human companion, it decides to reject its creators’ original appearance and adapt its features to be more human-like. We see this happen when Penny befriends and saves Sally. This transformation isn’t always the case though. Despite spending a lot of time with humanity and even befriending Ben Adler, Scarecrow never sheds his more alien look. According to the Lost in Space producers this was by storytelling design.

      “We didn’t want it to be ‘in order to be good as a robot you have to look human,’” Estrin (show’s producer) says. “When we see Scarecrow in season 2 it was important to us that he doesn’t change shape. It’s at the heart of Lost in Space. Everybody has the power to be good.”

    Fantastic video, I think it's important to note that at 6:21 when you say "Will used sounds from the alien keyboard to defeat SAR" That he didn't get that sound from the alien keyboard, but from the robots on Robot's planet after he fixed Will's heart after they witnessed Robot "sacrifice" himself to save Will.
    Also I want to say that Dr Smith was my favourite after Robot due to incredibly well written character development. The story describes the complexity of humanity through all the characters brilliantly, but I think it shows the greatest extremes through Robot and Dr Smith and I'd love to see a video from you on this subject if you're so inclined :)

    • @johnpatz8395
      @johnpatz8395 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The writers did a great job with character arcs, but of course being human, not everyone changes, like Smith and Adler did, such as the guy the wife traded the security override codes to in order to get Will on the passenger list. In fact one of my wife and my favorite characters was Ben Adler, despite him not really being on the show very long, or even getting much screen time. What screen time he had showed him questioning his own beliefs and actions, and finally sacrificing himself for Scarecrow, on whom he had committed such wrongs/evils, to try and make up for his actions. I loved that they showed Will following through on his promise to him, to tell Ben’s boys that he died trying to do the right thing, and that his death ultimately saved 97 children, Judy, not to mention Grant Kelly and his crew that wouldn’t have been found had Scarecrow not protected the transport with the kids onboard.
      Even Smith, up until Robot helped her, I didn’t care if she lived or died, in fact I was rooting for death, but they actually managed to redeem her, at least partially, by her choosing not to kill the Captain, despite knowing he would want to lock her up, then not only risking herself to save Will (I don’t think she ever put her own life at risk for anyone else before that, she saved a couple people, such as Judy when she was flying over the transport Jupiter, but never at risk of her own life,) but she actually cared for Will enough to not only risk her life, but agree to go back to robot infested planets to try and save everyone. Then finally, despite all the evidence against her being destroyed she wrote out and signed a confession for the Captain, having realized that despite the good behaviors she’s shown over the two years of the journey, they don’t make up for her past actions.
      It would have been very easy to make her a wonderful person overnight, and have everything being forgiven, but instead the writers knew there had to be an actual penalty, which is also why they killed Ben Adler, which my wife and I hated, as he was such a great character, especially after he saw the error of his ways, and was in effect a grown up Will.

    • @boku955
      @boku955 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No he did get the sounds from the keyboard. If you replay the time at episode 4 when Will is playing the sound it's the second sound. I think the aliens told him it was that sound.

    1:45 the robots don’t really have an “attack mode” they can change their body shape in relation to the organism they bonded with. Just not sure why scarecrow didn’t do that.

    I absolutely love the design of these robots, and their variations of their body panels and even the colors of their lighting, including light red, dark red, yellow, blue and I think I saw a few with white (not counting the white when Scarecrow and Robot were connected with each other across Star systems.) I would love to see a full sized 3D model of a couple of them, so I could take my time and check it out from different angles, as there was so much incredible detail included on them, but you never really get good static shots of them to example the beauty of their design.
    Additionally, the effect within their facial globes, heads or whatever you want to call it, is simply stunning, despite basically being the ultimate version of a decades old screensavers, but at the same time it’s so much more, and I’d love to have a true version of that as a screensaver, but while many aim for something similar, I’ve yet to see anything that looks even reasonably close to what they pulled off.

    I have a theory that the robots mimic the form of whoever they obey (wanted to obey- like how you can let some dogs run around off leash and they will still can back to you) . Once they were free from the code and could do what they wanted, they could change forms, like how Robot mimicked the human form. When they were still under there programing they looked like the species the created them; their default. The reason scarecrow didn't change was because he was still under the old programing.

    I think the reason the robot did as will said was because will had saved him. The robots creators may have coded them to do whatever their creator/saviour did, this is the same to when Dr Smith saved him at the end of S1. When SAR was first introduced, he helped Robot break free from Dr Smiths control. Robot then made his own choice to save will because they were friends. That is why there is a noticeable change in robots behaviour when he is found in S2. He is no longer following his code, and sees Will as his friend rather than his master.

    'ROBOT' quickly became a synthetic version (or surrogate perhaps) of E.T. And, once that was in the back of my mind, it was impossible not to become VERY attached to its well-being. Its relationship with Will is precious and inspiring.

    How do 63 percent of people in that pole give the season 1 star?? Like seriously. The season was great. It was no season one, but it built on the lore and mythos of the show. Which is way better. And better yet...the show actually had an ending it wasn't just cancelled and the family left in limbo.

    I can't think of any characters I've wanted to be killed off more than Dr. Smith. My friend said "it was her redemption arc!" and I said she's had dozens of redemption arcs in 3 seasons and she ALWAYS stabs them in the back just put a bullet in her already. Kudos to Parker Posey for playing the character so well.
    Overall I liked the series enough to keep watching. A lot of situations were too contrived, like they'd escape a situation only to be like "bad news, the ship/planet is going to explode in 2 hours!"

      She had the biggest challenge of all the characters, not just because Smith is a slime bag, but because Jonathan Harris was the center of the original series, basically taking it over and changing it from action adventure focused on the dad to comedy and thrills focused around Smith.
      Harris was brilliant

      The only thing I really though was bad about season 3 was Will's arc. (This is long, sorry)
      On paper, the concept of him going out on his own in a misguided attempt to save his family and the human race sounds nice. But throughout half the season something keeps stopping him from doing it, he's like "Robot, this is something I have to do alone. Farewell!" and then the engine on the ship dies or something and he has to put his plan on hold for another few days, and the same thing would happen the next time. It was just got kinda sad, it felt like he was just making lame attempts to be a hero at some points and just never got around to it.
      It felt like the writers planned on Will going on an adventure with robot to confront SAR, but there were budget cuts or time restraints and the writers just had will attempt to do what he thought he had to do, continually fail or get sidetracked, and do jack-sh*t the whole season. He spend an entire episode in a tree for crying out loud, trying to grab a bag. He wasn't there for fun, to relax, he was trying to grab a frickin bag in for a whole episode.
      Sorry that was long, but you get the point.
      Otherwise I loved Season 3!

    You have some misinterpretation in this piece. Please go through Zack Estrin’s interviews, you’ll have a lot more clarity on why thing were written as they were.
    Just an example:
    “We didn’t want it to be ‘in order to be good as a robot you have to look human,’” Estrin says. “When we see Scarecrow in season 2 it was important to us that he doesn’t change shape. It’s at the heart of Lost in Space. Everybody has the power to be good.”

    I finished the series yesterday after binge-watching it. I think the whole story is quite easy to follow, even when you are already in S3.. The backsplashes do help telling the whole story too... What happened with the two other crew members of Gene ? I missed that part.

    For all its flaws and shortcomings, I actually enjoyed Lost in Space. Personally, I think it is better the show did not delve into the robots' origins. The glimpse we saw of their creators is terrific and terrifying. Will humanity suffer the same fate from its own A.I.?
    Anyhow... I do hope they make a movie some time in the near future. I'm imagining a few years after the show ended, a strange man comes to the Robinsons asking for help. Perhaps the movie spends a good amount of time building tension by playing into the family's doubts and distrust towards the stranger. Only to realize that the man is in fact an adult Will! Something went terribly wrong in teenage Will's last exploratory mission and he is now lost in time. And so the whole crew gathers once more to rescue Will.
    Yes, yes. The plot is obviously a nod to the 1998 movie. But why not? ✌️😅

    I enjoyed season three, however, the subsequent death of SAR was a little bit of Good vanquishing Evil cliche. All in all, season three made a great ending for the show. I just feel as the show was just getting its footing around season two and I was expecting season three to flush out more of all the main and sub characters. The last season left me with a large amount of questions. I wanted to know more of their origins than extinction by creation. I would have loved to see some of their masters survive and try to retake their property while showing their true nature, for which caused SAR's revolt. I only saw three of the robots express any free thinking. SAR was the first, yet none of the other robots he fought with throughout the show ever questioned his motives or actions. Scarecrow was the second robot to become free thinking, however, his experience was more representative of the reason SAR revolted against his masters. Lastly, Robot was the third to express change in his programming which was facilitated by the innocence of Will. I would have liked to have seen SAR contemplate why he was still fighting after many of his troops chose not to fight the humans. He gets to live and joins Will after noticing he is alive and contains Robot's conscience. They then search the galaxy for a means to retrieve the conscience without harming Will.

    • @DavidKnowles0
      @DavidKnowles0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My interpretation was that SAR was the only free thinking robot and he controlled all of the others. An he had a fear that he just couldn't give up that humans would attempt to reprogram him and his army. probably as the creators have tried to do. It clear the robots were treated as nothing more than slaves by those creators.

    • @annalucia04
      @annalucia04 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also agree in saying that I still have a lot of questions after watching season three. I really enjoyed the last season, but they didn’t really leave a lot of room for details which was disappointing. I would’ve loved to learn more about their masters and how they treated the robots instead of just showing their dead skeletons. Maybe they treated the robots very harshly which made SAR want to kill them.
      It also would’ve been cool to see a more in depth look at SAR’s past or something like that. I just feel that this season had a lot of missed opportunities. It would’ve been much better if they had full ten episodes so they could explain things more

    • @bluejaygamer9476
      @bluejaygamer9476 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavidKnowles0 That is a good point that the viewer can infer from SAR’s actions that it may have been the case, however, SAR is a major villain towards the crew. So, he should’ve had some sort of flash back instead of just him telling Will what he did. We do not know if the revolt was naturally occurring or was SAR reprogrammed by a radical group. Many forms of media have shown AI once gaining sentience turn on their creators. It is explained why the AI revolts , but not in the case of SAR. We never know exactly how far SAR’s sentience was and to kill his creators like the manner in the matrix movies is too much lazy writing.
