Joseph you should be doing a patreon channel and receiving payment for your tutorials, you have a great way of explaining the procedures. I have took a lot of your instructions on board thank you 😊
@josephhammond3637 I think you are very capable now but I understand the narrative is where I fall, I don't like the sound of my voice and all my videos are without narrative
Hello Joseph, This would have to be one of the greatest pieces of work I have seen on TH-cam. The colour combination you used definitely tells a story. It has a somber though mystical look about it. This man has seen and endured so much through his years, or is he protecting something that has weighed heavy on his shoulders and aged him before his time? I love the colours. The purple-blue tones especially. I have watched this about 4 times now and every time I rewatch it, I notice something else. This is the kind of art that makes you wonder. Well, it has with me. Thank you for sharing this with us as this is an amazing piece. Great work. I Love it!
@@josephhammond3637 Do more! What are you waiting for? chop-chop. 👍🤣 I am doing pastel pieces at the moment also. So I can definitely associate and appreciate this! ❤
Hi Joseph, I enjoy your tutorial video's a lot. I wonder when you use this technique of first pastel and later on colored penci, you don't need to fixate the drawing anymore?
Hi I’m glad you enjoyed the video . The reason I don’t use fixative is it darkens the values. Then I have to correct the light areas again , so I find better to protect the piece behind glass. Even with the colored pencils over the pastel it can still be damaged. I hope that answered your question. Thanks for watching
That’s amazing!😮 I’ve experimented with fixing charcoal with Spectrafix to paint over it. It took a lot of coats, and still smudged a bit. Do you have a favourite fixative for the pastel layer? I assume it’s a workable fixative? And how many coats did it take?
What takes me OUT of this drawing, is the (lower right) hand, on top of the hand holding the book. . . It looks dirty, because of the rougher texture-and fewer highlights-than the hand beneath it. Somehow, it’s just not as beautifully rendered as the rest of the drawing. I don’t mean to be critical-you are quite skilled- but I do find the difference to be distracting. Hope I made sense! Thank you for your videos, Joseph.
