Definitely worth going; the only hard decision you'll have is whether to see it in the wonderful Golden Hall in the Musikverein, or the incredible Staatsoper.
If anyone ever says the conductor is useless show them this video. He was able to, on the fly, non-verbally instruct the audience on how hard and when to clap and fit it in with the orchestra which he's also instructing.
Well it also showed how when he turned to the crowd, the musicians of the orchestra kept playing without missing a single note without him giving any further advice

Dudamel is my dude! I've never seen a conductor conduct the audience as well as the orchestra! His joy and humor are infectious and he is much fun to watch. I especially enjoy watching him conducting "Ginastera Estancia".
