Ford Lehman engine and Borg Warner Velvet Drive test

The twin engines and transmissions are over half a century old. We got senior citizen mechanics, Mang Andy (with shirt), and Mang Ely (without shirt) to get them going. Mang Andy is a diesel engine generalist who has worked on everything from Gray Marine and Detroit Diesel, to huge B&W power plant engines, to Isuzu, Hino, Mitsubishi, and Fords like these; Mang Ely is a transmission technician, with experience in Twin Disc, Tonangco, ZF, Reintjes, Yanmar, and the many Chinese transmissions, particularly the Hangzhou Advance 135 found in our other boat. "Mang" is a Filipino shorthand for the Spanish word "hermano", meaning "brother". It is a term of respect these two gentlemen deserve. In a previous video, we established that the transmission on this port engine works, but it didn't have enough oil, so the pressure was not enough to shift it at idle. We added more oil for this one, and the transmission works perfectly.

The boat was moored. We simply doubled the mooring lines, and kept the rudders straight.
