maybe you know what could be wrong With excact same engine? mine stalls when it gets Down on rpm and supposed to stay idle. and when i first stop it or it stalls i have to push the stop button some times and throttle it up and Down before i start it. its he only way it will start. stalls easy when put in gir also. have had some air problems. fixed that problem and all filters are changed. and the old filtres did look very Nice too. hank you

All Fords have gear driven timing system right thru from the earliest Dagenham series thru to Dover series engines.

can u tell your engine hp from the engine number
Better option is the numbers on the tag on the injector pump just under where the injector pipes screw onto the delivery valve holders.
