I do think that if Tesla went under in 2018, the legacy automakers would have sharply reversed course on making EVs and Europe and America would be waiting for large numbers of Chinese EVs to arrive today. It would have set back the conversion to EVs by a decade, and that is a decade we likely don’t have on the climate catastrophe since I think we are already twenty years too late. The idea around the Twitter buy wasn't bad, even if Musk himself is not well suited for that responsibility. The rise of alt-right social platforms and the rising division online was undesirable. His point about at least keeping non-radicals on the right and left on one platform was fair... Because the right in general thought that they were being targeted. The main problem with taking on the responsibility of being a protector of online discourse though, is that you then wouldn't normally take a partisan stance yourself. Using a neutral platform for your own political agenda becomes a form of corruption. And if you're really going to take on what is effectively a "government" level responsibility, then you also need to take on the ethical position that that role implies. Musk taking sides on Twitter is kinda like when the President takes a side (like with Trump) and you see changed behavior across the government (oddly similar to some things people complain about with Xi's influence in China) Musk needs a better understanding of the idea of checks and balances.

I do think that if Tesla went under in 2018, the legacy automakers would have sharply reversed course on making EVs and Europe and America would be waiting for large numbers of Chinese EVs to arrive today. It would have set back the conversion to EVs by a decade, and that is a decade we likely don’t have on the climate catastrophe since I think we are already twenty years too late.
That said, yep, for sure there was sexual harassment at Tesla and they knew it, because for example I reported a guy who was groping women and bragged about it. What followed was months of ongoing retaliation that finally got me fired.

Starting to make a lot of sense. Never paid much attention to her wonder led why I kept seeing her on talk shows and what not. Her delusions and misunderstandings spread out into general public. She’s the propagandist that’s behind so many insane things in our culture. She called ben Shapiro a Neo nazi? That’s insane she’s just crazy. Finally this is all turning around. She’s lost all credibility.
The idea around the Twitter buy wasn't bad, even if Musk himself is not well suited for that responsibility.
The rise of alt-right social platforms and the rising division online was undesirable. His point about at least keeping non-radicals on the right and left on one platform was fair... Because the right in general thought that they were being targeted.
The main problem with taking on the responsibility of being a protector of online discourse though, is that you then wouldn't normally take a partisan stance yourself. Using a neutral platform for your own political agenda becomes a form of corruption. And if you're really going to take on what is effectively a "government" level responsibility, then you also need to take on the ethical position that that role implies.
Musk taking sides on Twitter is kinda like when the President takes a side (like with Trump) and you see changed behavior across the government (oddly similar to some things people complain about with Xi's influence in China)
Musk needs a better understanding of the idea of checks and balances.
I'm surprised the comments here weren't flooded by Swisher fans like every other podcast she was on. I wish people would look at her history with some of these tech billionaires more critically. Can't wait to see her defending Sam Altman next when he takes a turn.

I think Tesla is doing good things. I think Musk is a bit wierd.
Kara thinks she is smarter and better than Elon Musk... what a clown . Kara's opinion is just for herself and her friends. Elon will be remembered in human history with all his achievement. But haters will just be flying like dust..

The sleeping on the factory floor is a somewhat classic "leading from the front" move. Giving more than you demand of others... You'd go out of your way for a leader like that.
And I'm not sure his point about Tesla's fall being dangerous for humanity's future is entirely wrong. Tesla was a symbol. Proof that electric cars that everyone thought wouldn't be commercially viable, could work and be profitable.
Tesla inspired all the other major car makers to change direction.
Tesla failing, might well have had the reverse effect. Especially back then.
So, even if a little exaggerated, his basic point may well be valid.

Nice try, but he can't be African American anymore than the various Europeans born in China and living in the U.S will ever be Asian American or Chinese. You may feel that way but the Africans will never accept him as such and that goes for the dutch foreigners and their progeny occupying parts of South Africa as well. Trump's Muslim Ban was basically a campaign promise. So even if Musk could've convinced Trump that the idea was wrong, the momentum behind it was too strong to reverse.
I do remember Musk saying that he was a source of sanity in Trump's group of business consultants. lol
