I'd recommend Super Sami Roll. It's a really fun 3D platformer that uses the grapple like this game. You can only grapple in front of you and its used more for platforming and trying to beat the level faster.
Gotta say, you're right. I tried out this game and the frogun mechanic is actually really well done. So well done that while playing I was constantly thinking "Okay, how do I use my frogun, where will be the next neat little part where I need to use it in order to proceed" and.... there is barely anything going on that would require you or at least reward you for using the frogun. The level design is very subpar.
Some of your criticisms are inconsistent with other reviews. You say thete is no real story, but you admit you get notes as story collectibles. You say Frogun isn't its own character, but other reviews say he DOES talk to you when you step on speech bubbles.
The notes don’t add much, and collectibles do not constitute a story. The gun speaks VERY infrequently; mostly just at the start of the game through the tip bubbles… actually there is very little dialog whatsoever, because… there is no real story.
@@jakemartinez6894This is wrong lol just 100%'d the game. Almost every level has Frogun talk to you, and the story is there through the papers and dialogue with each character you talk to in the game: Jake, Hatter, and every boss. There's even a bit of hidden lore if you're eyes aren't closed.
So sad to hear this, it’s been on my list but I was waiting for a price drop. Safe to say I won’t be picking this up for more than $5 now due to how simple it looks
@@ShinoSarna yeah it’s definitely unique “a frog grapple gun” 😳🤨🤣🤷♂️ but it kind of intrigues me and reminds me of caption toad treasure tracker but you can jump in this which I prefer will definitely give it a try at some point as I like platformers
I don't think there's anything bad about the game being simple. A lot of the fun for me is jumping at far off things and making my own shortcuts. Getting massive leads in races was awesome and if exploring to find things is part of the game I'd expect it to hide stuff everywhere
Honestly, some of these problems sound like something you would find in a real retro 3D platformer. Problems with aiming and camera, that sounds familiar. So does knockback tossing you into pits. A lot of this sounds like something I could look past if I treated it as an actual old game.
Looks like a pretty interesting game which I have wish listed on the switch I like the frog grapple gun and the fact that she just receives it for some reason 🤣🤣🤣
@@Jake-nl3er yeah I had been following the game before it had even been released watching dev videos and thought it sounded really cool and loved that it was like banjo kazzoie and featured time travel I also love the detail and references to other games in the levels. I wish listed it on the switch but will probably get in on my aya Neo handheld pc as you know stupid switch control stick drift exists 😏😉😁

A lot of people seem to like this game, ot might just be "not for everybody" thing.

It's a shame they could have gone in the direction of Chameleon Twist.

I loved the aesthetic. I thought the gameplay was boring. Seems more like a kids game
Good review
FLIP U, FROGUN IS LIT
Interesting! I wanted to like this game more than I did but I'll probably never get past world 4

Clive and Wrench suffered the same fate. 😥
I thought Clive N Wrench was amazing.

Rough
This game has to have the worst, most unresponsive controls in any 3D platformer, it's so utterly awful.
Think u remake u cliqist vids like suspended kickstarter campaigns
please fix war trash 2 bro please
I definitely dodged a bullet by not purchasing and buying this game.
