The first sturgeon I ever saw was pulled from the banks of Edgewater Bar. The sturgeon was sooooo big that it curled around the back of an old 50’s station wagon and the tail passed the head. It had to have easily been over 200 years old. Longer and bigger than those in this vlog. I also know of one that it over 250 years old and still alive. Cheers from Vancouver eh!

I guided sturgeon trips on the Columbia River for 5 years. Biggest to the boat was 13 feet.
We lost a legendary fish like the Chinese paddlefish, we can’t loose Sturgeon too. Awesome catch!! 👍
I used to go fishing with Yves every summer growing up either on the Fraser and Island. Hit the sockeye run and the. Hit up sturgeon after getting our sockeye limit. Great guy, huge energy!

Thats my back yard! We boated a 119" fish this summer. Anything under 5' is considered small.

Not to brag or take away from this at all, but my family caught 1 about 6 years ago on the Columbia river that measured exactly 11’! Absolutely incredible! Awesome content
Yeah he shoulda gone Columbia. Much higher concentration of large sturgeon there. We’ve done 12 over 7 1/2 feet in around 8 hours.

May thru August on the Columbia River. There are also monsters. 11 1/2’ is my best. Grew up fishing these. Soo fun.
This is even better than a giant Tarpon! Two weeks ago I caught a stingray in the surf that was over 4 ft. Wide on the Outer Banks of NC. It took me 30 minutes to land him. I have no idea what it weighed but it was the most powerful fish I’ve ever hooked. These Sturgeon would be awesome to fight and catch. I commend the protection of this fishery. Would that we could protect some species here in NC!
There is still a few Atlantic sturgeon living. In some rivers in Maine you can watch them chilling in shallow water, staging for their spawn.
I learned that Coldwater is a key in keeping as a pet in a pond when they are young

Wow. No fighting belt. I bet your forearms were a mess the next few days. Great editing too. I have first hand experience of fighting several over 45 minutes dragging our boat up and down the Columba rive in WA. This should be on every fisherman's" Bucket list" for anyone to catch these fish.
