Loved every part spoken of in this video. Very applicable to our current society. Food and exercise and just being healthy can become such an idol, so you bringing it back to God and not allowing those things to consume us is pivotal. Thank you for your bold faith and wisdom! I have all your plans by the way, and I’m on my second time of firm30 and LOVE it all!! ❤

God has been revealing food as an idol in my life. How I give it wayyyy too much thought when He said that I should give it “no thought.” It’s good to hear it said by a public figure when the world is screaming the opposite narrative at us constantly. Thank you, sister.

I was really wasting this platform and my time running GlowBodyPT a few years ago honestly because I was a super complacent Christian, acting and talking pretty much exactly like the world, and I'm so glad I'm not that woman anymore. THANK YOU LORD for working on each of us over time. Thank you for your patience w/ me, Caroline. I'm the one who is grateful for you.

I needed this so bad. I have your 12 week postpartum plan and I didn’t get through it but I am not giving up. I am pregnant with my 5th currently and I have been on EVERY diet ever in the past years. This pregnancy I have been trying so hard to listen to my body and eat whole real food and hike everyday because I love being outside with the Lord. I had a friend try to convince me to do carnivore pregnant so that I would lose the last 30 lbs of weight I wanted to lose, I know she meant well but watching this was confirmation and anwser to prayer .
I’m so tired of the idols😭Thank you May our Lord JESUS bless you for sharing. To Healthy Living!

Key takeaway- moderation is important. Food is fuel and a gift from Him and it's not to be taken for granted.
On a different note, we practice Lent, and this year, i felt called to fast from logging my food from myfitnesspal. I had every intention of going back after easter but i have felt such peace and freedom from just listening to my body and not trying to meet (or not meet) my calories or macros, i have given it up permanently ❤ Thank you so much for your work and inspiration

One of the most helpful things about the Mom Cookbook is that it teaches you to highlight what nutrients are in your food to your kids in a way they can understand. It saved me from just saying, "yum, this tastes good" and not educating my kids about food. Thank you for this video and this game changing perspective, Ashley!

Wow. You hit the nail on the head! Thank you for this! I definitely needed to hear all of this .. especially my unhealthy habit of obsessing over my "diet" . Cause then i end up just binging on really unhealthy things (sweets, chips, etc) and i enter into a vicious cycle of trying to workout ALL the next day , and it keeps going on and on!
The Lord will provide ..really, He already has . With this beautiful world full of great things to consume .
It's time for me to throw out these bad habits and set a better example for my 4 children .

This was such a breath of fresh air! I feel like it's exactly what I needed to hear. I'm definitely going to save this! I, too, struggled with orthorexia for several years. It impacted my entire life, my marriage. Since having kids, I have abandoned those restrictive patterns, but I've had trouble finding my balance the other way. It's difficult for me not to overthink food. But this truly was such an uplifting viewpoint. Thank you!

I love your perspective on this matter. I have been struggling with fear of negatively impacting my children by trying to teach them about wholesome food vs. food that is detrimental to our health. How you say to keep it simple and eat what God gave us is so simple yet so profound. Even when I stopped starving myself and bingeing/purging, I still struggled mentally with many food groups for a long time after my body healed. It really does become a part of you…. Oh my goodness Ashley! Thank you so much for this video! I am not going to lie, when I saw the title of the video, I thought "oh well. I'll watch it but it probably won't apply to me" because I've never been into diets. I've always been a skinny and tone person because I danced so much growing up and then after becoming a mom, I used your programs to help me stay active but my latest pregnancy shot my core and made it a lot more difficult for me to lose weight and look tone. I'm a bit soft right now and I hadn't realized how much it occupied my thoughts until now. I always thought that an "idol" like mentioned in the Bible was referring to the most important thing we are putting on a pedestal intead of God and for the first time, it hit me that "idols" can simply be distractions even if they don't occupy our headspace constantly. Anything that distracts me from God is an idol regardless of where I place it on my list of priorities. My dislike of my figure (which is objectively not bad) and my resentment of my belly pooch has distracted me from appretiating the body that God gave me and the sacred ability to bring children to this earth. Now I am compelled to change something I didn't even realize was a problem before this video! Instead of feeling bad that I am not eating the most nutritious meal, I can thank God that He gave me the financial means and discipline to make SOMETHING to eat. Instead of frowning when I see my belly or my stretch marks, I can ponder on the wonder and beauty that I have been able to carry and birth children. Instead of beating myself up for not exercising "like I should", I can pray to ask my Heavenly Father what it is I need to focus on for that day or for that hour. If exercising and being fit makes me look at my life in a wordly manner as opposed to looking at it like a way to honor God and take care of the beautiful gift of a body He gave me, then I need to change that. Sorry for the wordy comment. But thank you so much for helping me figure something out that I didn't know I struggled with. Everything I do should point to God, not mysef, not my physique, but to His Glory and His grace. God is so good. Thank you so much for your content ❤

    Ashley…
You are a sweet woman of God, and I/we absolutely adore you. I have eight children, ranging from 3 years to 25 years old. My family enjoys working out with you, even the boys (and my Spartan training husband, from time to time)! This video really spoke to my heart. My body has truly experienced the “seasons of motherhood”. I will admit that exercise, as much as I love it, can become an obsession for me. I appreciate the message that you share here. We should be FREE in Messiah to truly LIVE and not be weighed down (pun intended) by lies regarding our self image. May you and your family be blessed, Ashley! 🤍

I’m so glad I could finally tell you a snippet of how you’ve been there for me/us.
Long story short (ish)….Actually, having a lot of kids TERRIFIED me. I was an only child, with what sounds like was a surprisingly similar upbringing to your own. As I came to know God more, His spirit would nudge me in different ways. After our fourth child, we were DONE having children. I was running a ton, getting “my” body back, and feeling overwhelmed with the idea of having more kids. My husband was literally 3 days away from a scheduled vasectomy, which I had been completely promoting. Let’s just say God moved in a very supernatural way and changed our hearts at the last minute. We decided against the surgery, but our hearts were still not ready to welcome the idea of more children. BUT He impressed it upon us that we were to trust Him with the opening and closing of my womb. I am in awe of how He took our initial response of obedience, without a total excitement or understanding of how He would work it all out, and then gave our hearts a complete and joyful transformation. It hasn’t always been easy (miscarriages, challenging pregnancies, sleepless nights with littles), but our last four children have been so healing for me and the rest of us. The lessons I continue to learn as I mother these humans is beyond comprehension. Our older children love their younger siblings with intensity! So now I’m 48, and am most likely out of the pregnancy zone, but I can’t tell you enough how quickly the years have passed, and how I would have all eight of my beautiful, God-given gifts all over again. 🤍
This is OUR personal story, and I know everyone has their own special circumstances and relationships with the Creator. He is the One that offers the true wisdom we need to know what’s best.
Lots of love to you and your beautiful family! Thanks for shining His light! We’ve got your workout on our to-do list today. Please forgive me in advance for yelling “Enough, girl!” when you push us. 😂🤍 Mandy

This is a wonderful video!! I’ve only in the past two years been focused on calories etc trying to lost like 15 lbs and done all the macros and the low carb/no carb and recently God highlighted to me the verse that said “ALL FOODS ARE CREATED BY HIM AND ARE TO BE RECEIVED WITH THANKSGIVING”. Oops God I forgot! Even carbs?? (Yes! Would He be called the BREAD OF LIFE because bread is terrible for us??)
Now I’m focusing on real foods and I bake my own bread without ingredients I cant pronounce. Thank you for this wholesome advice which my Spirit gives witness is truth. 🙏🏻

Some people also cannot eat like the rest of their family. I have autoimmune illness. My kids have seen how sick I am if I eat like them. We are not all the same. I’ve seen so many people heal serious illness and obesity on keto, carnivore and AIP. I just think that should be included in this perspective. I guess this video applies more to people with disordered eating.

I had both her original PostPartum Plan and now the updated one and I went ahead and did the updated version just for fun to see how it differed and I could tell that it better leads into the 10 Minute Plan. Such a great and important video. I also come from a background of being obsessed with healthy eating as well as an eating disorder. I struggled for many years. During my pregnancy, I decided to really push myself to be the change I wanted to model for my little one. That goal & motivation became even stronger when I found out we were having a little girl. So much is shaped by our early examples and relationships. And although i can't change my upbringing or childhood, I can certainly be intentional about hers.
God and regaining a faith in him was a catalyst during all of that. I let go of the eating disorder, the veganism, the fear of my body changing as a woman and will happily not look back. It hasn't been a perfect journey, but i hope my daughter can grow up knowing that beauty is in her actions and heart and not in her body.
It is wonderful to see other women being liberated from the idol our society has made about our bodies. Thank you for a wonderful video ❤

Great content on paying attention to the heart issue above all! I love how you go into this topic in Firm30 as well and it has gotten me examining my own relationship to food, fitness and health, as well as the example I am setting for my two little girls! My perspective has changed so much and I’m glad I was able to notice my tendency toward idolatry early on in my girls’ lives so hopefully I can build a healthy foundation for them rooted in God’s Word and putting Him first, rather than self worship or following the ‘patterns of this world’.

Ashley! You are a rockstar. I’m a forever glowbodyPT follower. I recently came across an amazing resource the book, “fast like a girl” by dr. Mindy pelz. She’s extremely into IF but simultaneously does an amazing job explaining what is happening throughout a womens cycle and how to best eat and serve your body during each phase (along with IF if you choose but just understanding the “diet” and way of eating in conjunction with your hormones is extremely valuable info). Metabolic switching (running off of fat and running off of glucose) is extremely healthy for the brain and I’ve found it to be an overall wonderful well rounded resource to at times focus on more veggies and meat, and other times focus on good healthy carbs to serve my body without going to any extremes that is totally unrealistic and unfruitful. Anyways, I hope you find it as interesting as I did haha. I really appreciate all you do. Keeping repping Jesus, my sis!

This video was so convicting. Body image, comparison, exercise - they’re all idols I struggle with. I loved how you talked about God changing you gradually. That’s what I am praying for. God is slowly changing me. Right now it’s a focus not to conform to the ways of the world, but to be transformed by the renewal of my mind that can only be done through Jesus.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Ashley! I particularly appreciated your comments on intermittent fasting. I've wondered lately about it, and if focusing on fasting for weight loss reasons will desensitize us to the spiritual value the Bible gives to fasting. Thank you for continually pointing us to the Lord, sister!

So helpful, as ways, Ash! Thank you. You bring such balance to this space; and the Lord has used you in my life to see fitness as important(it’s always been a part only life but usually for my own vanity), but now as a tool to take care of the body he’s given me… for his service. I’m so thankful for the ability to move and have the use of my limbs. It’s something I take for granted. I helped an elderly lady out of an awkward seat the other day, and your voice was in my head about being strong so we can do things like that without throwing our backs out 😂 these days, I just don’t want to end up at the chiropractor lol! So thank you for helping me keep a balance to a topic that so easily can become an idol rather than a service tool for Jesus.

What is the difference between having a structured exercise program and having a structured eating regiment? I find I can give food "less thought" if I figure out what works for my goals and stick to that.

This was good- I would say for vegan, you don’t have to combine foods to create complete proteins when vegan, there are already plant based foods that are complete and if you eat a variety of plant proteins, you don’t have to worry about combining. Using any of the diets you listed for the wrong reasons is bad though as you said.

So, do you remove old videos when your convictions change? I just found you and am liking everything you've posted this year (especially the buckle up conviction ones)...but am wondering if I can trust the older ones to give the same healthy advice?

    • @glowbodypt

Natalie, Great question! May I offer some perspective? Your question is kind of like asking if I should absorb and emulate everything a new believer said, did, wore, 9 years ago. Are you the same woman you were a decade ago? Or has motherhood, being a wife, going through trials and tribulations, aging, edification from other Godly women in your life and attending church and reading the Bible for the past decade impacted you? Believers WILL change because that's part of sanctification over a lifetime until the Lord allows us to breath our last breath and calls home with Him for eternity. I don't claim to be perfect 9 years ago nor do I claim to be perfect now but GlowBodyPT have stuck with imperfect me for this long; God has been so gracious, and for that I am grateful. Firm30 program would be life changing for you if you've enjoyed these sit-down conversations because we have shorter chats like this WHILE working out from home. You feel like a time-genuis becuase you're honoring your limited time by getting in a wildly effective workout in 30 minutes flat with Biblical encouragement sprinkled in, plus nutrition, plus female-specific health, all woven in beautifully.

Hi Ashley, this video hit all of my emotions. I am 2 months post partum with #6 and did not gain weight while pregnant, but have since gained weight from breastfeeding, and stress eating when my baby is crying! I was getting so upset, and thought I need to use myfitnesspal, or weight watchers, but it is bringing me stress just thinking about it. I so badly want God to release me from all the thoughts you struggled with after using apps for around 10 years. This video couldnt be more timely and encouraged me to treat my heart matter and give it over to the Lord. I might have to listen to this video daily to keep my focus where it needs to be! Do you have any videos on where to start with this mind change? Or how to eat while breastfeeding? Thank you for sharing your wisdom in this area😊!

I love how you reflect your experience through faith and how you always point back to what is most important - HIM! I mostly agree with you, just not on carnivore, because I've tried it and it's just so awesome, I never felt better in my body!! I never had any compulsive restricting eating behaviour, I'm the person who loves sweets too much. I tried to do many times what you said but it just didn't work for me. Even when I cut out sweets completely I would overeat on something healthy instead. I counted calories to restrict myself somehow, but my natural happy being rebelled against controlling my food intake. i guess that's a bit my thing, I don't overeat but I need food to keep me happy. I think because you come from the opposite direction than me and never really had to loose weight, you see food also from a different perspective than someone who is overweight. The way you describe how and what you eat in a day I did many times and it worked some weeks until it didn't. Carnivore was THE ONLY time when I could eat until I was full and stayed full for hours and never thought about food until I got really hungry again and then I just ate as much as I wanted again. I was always full and never hungry, no cravings, no anxiety, no thought racing, no morning tiredness, it's just amazing. I would love you to try it just for 1 month (you can try anything for 1 month without any serious consequences for your health) and then speak out of experience. Because what you say about carnivorism is not scientifically valid, I haven't found any video about anyone whose cholesterol levels were higher than what it should be. Thank you for investing yourself and helping so many 🙂 God bless!

I’m with you on this one. I have used carnivore as a tool twice now in my life. I have autoimmune illness that went into remission so fast when I started carnivore. I ended up getting Lyme, bartonella, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis and had to go back to carnivore again. I’ve tried AIP, keto, plant based…and the list could go on. I’m also so sad to continue to hear this outdated info again on cholesterol. It is false. Correlation does not equal causation. Cholesterol is not the enemy! In fact, LDL is now being associated with longevity, reduced risk of dementia and stroke! Beans, plants, nuts and seeds ALL contain toxins. fiber is not necessary! I’m sorry to hear that more people are also not aware of how nutrient rich animal foods are. Plants have far less bioavailability than animal products. I do wish people would do more research on all of this. I’ve studied carnivore FOR YEARS, and it’s truly amazing. It’s also the only way of eating that has KILLED my sugar dragon. I feel like a different person eating like this in a good way!

@@glowbodypt I’m a nutritionist. I’m totally fascinated by this field. I’ve also struggled with illness so much over the years it is interesting to hear what removing plants from one’s diet can do. It is VERY counter culture. I love veggies. I love salad. It has been hard to give up, but when I go back to it symptoms crop up. They just don’t make me feel good unfortunately. I even had frequent PVCs and PACs. They would disturb my sleep, my workouts. They bothered me all day. This time when I started carnivore they disappeared within 3 days. Up until that point i was eating leafy green, low sugar berries, homemade salad dressing with extra virgin olive oil and ACV. I was eating super healthy. I was very surprised giving those things up would even make my heart feel better. If you are at all interested in doing a deeper dive on this subject I highly recommend listening to or reading Judy Cho, Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Sean Baker or Dr. Anthony Chaffee. Our food pyramid was based on pretty extreme corruption many years ago. We have been misled on many things as far as food goes. Vey interesting history.
