As great as the remake looks, I’m still not sold on the idea of being charged $70. I think $40 would’ve been a reasonable price point given it’s the same game as the original minus multiplayer with just higher quality assets added. I think had there not been a PS4 remaster and this instead then you could maybe say it was worth the $70. Think I’ll just wait until a price drop after launch and pick it up then.
@@kyliesmith9199 its not to much, the fact is people see the worth remake and start bashing and crying all over it, yet the remaster was 60$ but it was totally fine because it’s just for the next generation of console and for people who haven’t enjoyed it yet but woah there it’s a full ground up remake for 10$ more dont u dare, it’s idiotic. It’s even more justified by the fact that it’s coming to pc
its not just a make up ps5 version. they also changed gameplay and areas, so that it gets more like part2. great work should allways be appriciated (with money). they did not put all of their time and energy for just pure fun in this title.
@@JDisclmd Julian, have you ever considered the fact that due to the demand for the consoles many people have had to resort to more expensive means of acquiring one? Not everyone wants to pay $60 for a full priced game, and charging $70 per game on an already $500 console is not a sound business decision for the customer. You need not take into account that the main market (USA) is currently in a recession and thus many people don't have the type of cash that will be required to enjoy the new games for the next generation. In no way, shape or form, is a $70 price tag justifiable, if it was $60 for the base game, then $70 for the "Ultimate" version (which would need to include much more content in order to justify) I could see that as somewhat acceptable. But $70 for a game that was already remastered..? There are plenty of examples where a remake of a game was not price hiked (new assets, hell, new STORY and cinematics and new gameplay mechanics and level design) such as Resident Evil 2, or even Resident Evil 3 (both released on PC btw). Theres a very simple reason for the price increase, and thats simply greed, when you support a price hike like this? You are supporting it across the board, Activision is already doing it, so is 2K, thats why people are not okay with it, thats why it shouldn't be a thing, it is greedy, simple.
This is the core motivation for my excitement for the remake. Can’t wait to see how hard those scenes are going to hit with more realistic expression capture from the original performances. I’m really into collecting 4K home movie discs and some of the restorations they do on the older films are incredible, but this feels like a step beyond even that because they are actually getting more nuanced interpretation of a performance vs cleaning up what was already captured.
Bro she looks so realistic! And i really like that they didnt make it the most attractive women bc thats for some reason normal these days in games. and she looks so much more her age than she did in the remastered.
Yep! But I'm not holding my breath. That story was one of the worst I've seen in long time in nearly every direction. Take it from me I'd know, it looks like it was put together by confused apes. There is clearly about twelve story changes made mid development. Truth is it never needed a sequel.

It’s all preference, there absolutely no rule saying that if u live in an apocalypse u can’t be beautiful, nobody said anything about rosita in the walking dead. Now in terms of fidelity, skin texturing etc, her new model is obviously better looking but that’s it, it’s all abt how well naughty dog executed the character model. If they would’ve kept her “beautiful” with the same level of fidelity we see here, her performance would be just as good
I find it funny that everyone is using the argument "TESS LOOKS LIKE THAT BECAUSE SHE IS 40 IN A APOCALYPSE WORLD" While in Last of Us 2 We have she hulk running around with those huge muscles in a APOCALYPSE world with no food left
Context is important Tess: A scavenger who was an ordinary girl until the apocalypse who is now struggling to get by searching for ration cards Abby: the daughter of an important member of the large resourceful firefly community who was trained from a young age to be a soldier for the fireflies never knowing the pleasantries of the world before the apocalypse. She's not the hulk. She's got an average body builder build and is about 5'7.
Her updated model actually looks like she's scared to die and is sad that THAT was the last time she was ever gonna see Joel, instead of looking like "welp guess it's bout dat time" Can't wait for this and the (hopefully) updated combat
The last of us with the graphics of the second part?! Yes please If they keep basically the original story intact I won't give a damn about it, if they add more instead of taking off things it would be just amazing, the story of the first part it's just perfect so I pretty much doubt they would fuck up that.
Me personally, I DO like how the animation is so much more expressive but it does feel like the characters, all of them, look a lot older then they originally did. I mean, my sister is over 40 and she looks like she's in her late 20's at most. And it's not just Tess, Joel, Ellie, Bill and David all look weirdly older then their original models and it's just a little bit distracting. Mind you I only noticed this when seeing the original next to the newer model so it's likely something I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't see it side by side. Though this might change in later months as that does happen a lot in video games (Horizon: Forbidden West and Spider-Man PS4/5 being the best examples) but here's something I WOULD have liked to have seen, have Joel and Ellie AGE in the story. Like we see the year these two spend together in their character models.
Im probably in the minority here and I agree with you. Also I'm used to seeing Tess in the og the way they age her up in the remake makes me go "wait she doesnt really look like her" And yeah, i know some women in their late 40s who dont really look as old as Tess too. So id say i prefer her og look.
I think in the remake they all look more like how somebody would look after living for 20 years during a zombie apocalypse without easy access to sunscreen, moisturizers, supplements, etc.
Yeah, Ellie was the most noticeable for me when Joel was recapping the events of the Part 1 to Tommy in Part 2. You know the ending where she tells Joel "Ok"? She looked like she aged a good 20 years. And don't get me started on Marlene......
@Chandler Burse Well, they just look more realistic in general, joel does look a bit older but he still looks badass, and ellie just looks like a 14 year old now, the old model looked so cartoonish and made her look younger than she should
Already love the amazing work done on facial expressions. Looks to me the issue isn't the age as much as the facial features being different. Except for her hair and clothes, I wouldn't recognize her as Tess if I were to see some hairless render. Anyway, the updated character looks fantastic. So far, the upgrade is impressive. Gameplay changes might add even more to the mix..
The remake genuinely does look good, I just hate how they took Ellie’s face from part 2. She has the face of a 19 year old on the body of a 14 year old, it doesn’t look right.
I know it looks weird and why make Tess older? It they wanted that they could have done so in the original cus it has nothing to do with better graphics.
To be fair she looks way too old even if she was meant to be in her late 40s. No offense, she looks closer to someone in their 50. And not just Tess, almost everyone looks way older too. If you wanna argue "This is set in apocalypse, not everyone should be pretty" yeah, well, the entire cast weren't pretty or sexy or fanservicey to begin with.

It's sad that a lot of people are saying she's "old" when she's actually supposed to be in her 40's to late 30's (and in the remake, Tess looks "bad" because she actually looks like she's going to cry, which is more expressive than in the original game), and yet, they never complained that she looks way younger in the original game than what she's supposed to, which shows how hypocrite people can be.

Tess looks great in the remake, gotta say. They really took any cartoonish elements out of their characters.

@@JDisclmd
Julian, have you ever considered the fact that due to the demand for the consoles many people have had to resort to more expensive means of acquiring one?
She looks so old in this remake, I really prefer the original Tess
Her facial expressions in the remake look absolutely amazing and imho better than the original
You can actually see the menopause now
Bro she looks so realistic! And i really like that they didnt make it the most attractive women bc thats for some reason normal these days in games. and she looks so much more her age than she did in the remastered.

The part 1 is perfect, what's the point of remaking it? we want a remake of part 2 which its story was a disaster!
Part 2's story was good actually. And the fact that they're calling this Part 1 means they're doubling down on Part 2.
Yep! But I'm not holding my breath. That story was one of the worst I've seen in long time in nearly every direction. Take it from me I'd know, it looks like it was put together by confused apes. There is clearly about twelve story changes made mid development. Truth is it never needed a sequel.

"TESS LOOKS LIKE THAT BECAUSE SHE IS 40 IN A APOCALYPSE WORLD"
While in Last of Us 2
We have she hulk running around with those huge muscles in a APOCALYPSE world with no food left
Context is important
Tess: A scavenger who was an ordinary girl until the apocalypse who is now struggling to get by searching for ration cards
Abby: the daughter of an important member of the large resourceful firefly community who was trained from a young age to be a soldier for the fireflies never knowing the pleasantries of the world before the apocalypse.
She's not the hulk. She's got an average body builder build and is about 5'7.
Looks amazing
Her updated model actually looks like she's scared to die and is sad that THAT was the last time she was ever gonna see Joel, instead of looking like "welp guess it's bout dat time"
Can't wait for this and the (hopefully) updated combat
Oh My God Tess what did they do to you
So is a raisin the remake of a grape?
Brilliant metaphor
The last of us with the graphics of the second part?! Yes please
If they keep basically the original story intact I won't give a damn about it, if they add more instead of taking off things it would be just amazing, the story of the first part it's just perfect so I pretty much doubt they would fuck up that.
BRO that looked look a movie wtf
I can't believe they remake the entire game just to change that one doctor model at the end of the game
Also I'm used to seeing Tess in the og the way they age her up in the remake makes me go "wait she doesnt really look like her"
And yeah, i know some women in their late 40s who dont really look as old as Tess too.
Don't compare your sisters looks to a woman on an post apocalictic world, its like comparing a green apple with a rotten.
Tess always reminded me of Carrie Anne Moss (Trinity from the Matrix)
This looks nothing like Tess.
Old Joel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> New Joel
I still don't understand why this "remake" is even coming out. It's absolutely pointless. Oh right, money and gullible consumers.

She looks like a tired grandma in the remake, lol. I'll stick with the original game.
For the whole ten minutes that Tess actually features in the game.
Tess looks so old in the remake man. The original Tess is what I’m talking about.
I like how in the original version the graphics look great to this day and then boom, the remake makes it look like real life 2
I actually feel that new Tess looks hyper realistic, even more than both Joel and Ellie, I wonder how would they look like when they are in the same scenes.
