The 1871 Italianate Mansion Unoccupied For 60 Years

- The Bralley Mansion had been unoccupied for 60 years and was in a very dilapidated condition, it was built in 1871 by Dr. George L. Bralley and is
remarkable because its original design has never been altered. This ten room Italianate residence is one of the finest early Victorian properties in the City of Louisiana, Missouri.

That’s heartwarming to know it’s going to get the attention it deserves. How lucky to find one that had not had bad renovations.

What an elegant old home. The large windows let in a lot of natural light and the curved bannister is beautiful. I’m so happy to hear that someone else has purchased the home and will breathe new life into the home. Thanks for the tour!

A truly beautiful home. It once held a lot of love. I wish the new owners the best of luck! 😊

We have a very similiar property in Pinckneyville, IL. It was originally built as the sheriff's residence and jail. Built in 1871 it is listed on the National Registry of historic places for its Italianate design. It is currently the Perry County Jail Museum. Same staircase etc!
This home is beautiful I hope the newowners respect the integrity of this show place

What a beautiful old house! She was stunning in her prime! I wish I could restore every one of them! Awesome video as usual! 👍👍❤️✊🤘
Glad you liked and thank you for watching.
It looks to me that the brick and wood in the house are in amazingly good condition, considering how long it was unoccupied. SOOOOOO glad someone is going to continue the restoration. I hope we get to see their progress.

Look at that Craftmanship.😊

I have a Gothic Revival built the same time with many of the same elements. The outside brackets, doors with double arched windows etc. Very nice..I would furr out the exterior walls and drywall them rather than trying to restore the plaster. Everything else appears to be in relatively good condition. Better than mine was when I bought it for sure.

Would love to have seen photos of the house in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. And a picture of the original family. Looks like a well-built structure!

A house with a lot of character. Thank you for showing.

Italiante always stands out because of it's unique windows, which were all intact. As was all the original details. But what was so amazing is the lay out of the house has never been altered. That's a rarity in restoring old homes. Iam so glad that this old gal has a chance to find her soul again. I hope the people that bought her will do her justice 😊😊. As always thanks for the peek inside.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and for your comments.
Lost count how many times I have seen this style of beautiful old wooden staircase. Some how I can't wrap my head around all the beautiful old homes were just built from parts available at construction materials stores same as homes today are built of materials from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. The old homes just look so convincing as if all the wood details and chandeliers & other details were hand made and not factory produced.

Old home such as these do you have a soul from the memories of the families that once lived in them.
Once those porches get rebuilt, that will give the exterior a pop. So excited for this lady to shine again. Thank you!

My husband and I see this house when we drive through Louisiana, MO every year on our way to Hannibal, the boyhood home of Mark Twain. We live in St. Louis, MO and we take the scenic route which drives through Louisiana, amongst other small towns and along the Mississippi River. It’s a slightly longer route but you see more of small town America. For me also, it’s the way my parents took when I was a child , before the interstate made getting anyplace more important than what you saw while you traveled.
*Hannibal, MO is an amazing town on the Mississippi River with beautiful views, amazing historical sites, architectural gems you can just visit and some you can stay in. There are also a few different festivals throughout the year. We love the Fall Folklife Festival because it’s a time to celebrate the craftsman of area artists and people who have come from all over.
Which President is from Hannibal? Was it Truman?

Hi happy ,,wow you always seem to find the best places to show a video of ,,it's sad though when these old houses go to waste and get torn down ,, with so many people who do not have a home ,,these could be turned into shelters for the homeless ,,, some one should have enough of a caring heart to do so as everyone deserves to have a warm place to stay ,,

I wonder how good the roof is. I think once the roof starts leaking then a place deteriorates. The local city is it populous? Are there any historical sites surrounding the area. The wood on this place is gorgeous. That staircase, I’d be sad if it collapsed. Thank you for capturing this beauty.

It's would be nice to see the old gal fixed up to her formal glory.

This is a true beauty. I'm very fond of the Italianate style, soon to be swept away by the more picturesque and theatrical Queen Anne style. It's just good architecture, with just the right amount of ornament, and elegant proportions. This one appears to be sound, and not ravaged by water damage. The doors seem to be grained, which is not difficult to restore, or redo, especially if you document the graining that's survived. Anyway, I wish the new owners well. Perhaps they could start a TH-cam channel and earn some revenue toward restoration. Please keep us posted on their progress.

There are official Plasterer's Unions all over now. Buffalo has a huge one. There are people who can duplicate the origianal plaster work, heck I have a book from 1926 on it and I only do carpentry.

I wish you the very best of luck, love, patience, energy, enthusiasm and health. We remodeled our last home and still here. Love is in our walls, only took 10 years ( we weren’t wealthy by any means). Now when people visit us they say such wonderful things like it’s magical. It’s not but very special to us. Congratulations, it’s a wonderful endeavor.

What a once grand mansion. Noticed the upstairs door, Looks like it once had upstairs porch. Yeah, purchased in 2024, much hope can be restored..

You'd think some zillionaire would pick it up and restore it. Where are all the young millionaires out there? Maricopa County, AZ has the countries largest amount of multi millionairs than in any other county in the USA. Thats a stunning statistic. In PA alone there are at least ten billionaires with a B. Every state has their share of people who can easily afford it. The problem is organization of the official "charity" and they all get to discuss how much they give and who's name goes higher on the plaque! Ego is everything to a millionair.
For sale?

Just a suggestion. I play videos like these while I'm working from home. If I have to read details I immediately back out. I love exploration videos where I hear facts and knowledge, and can look up during focal points. But music and text? Unfortunately I won't be back.
