I am delighted to find your youtube video I managed to clean my cooker hood motor as directed .it took us a long time but finished and fan is working again much thanks .Delighted thankyou thankyou Val
Thanks my man! Mine hood is working fine just need a bit of cleaning and the fan making squeezing sound need lubrication for sure. Will update tomorrow
Thank you for this vedio as i was looking for motor similer to mine..Hotpoint Cooker HE62X Hood Impellor Fan. It is exactly same probably come from same manufacturer. This vedio helps me to understadn set up. I was able to clean the dity fans as original digrams does not tell full story
Thank you very helpful. Mine is not working, so I will start cleaning from tomorrow and will see how it goes. How to find on meter that motor is dead ? Or what is the first first step you take to find what is wrong with motor ?
If the resistance of the motor windings measured with a multimeter is too high, than there is probably something wrong with the motor. Of course you do that after unplugging it. Good luck.
Interesting. My 10 year old motor suddenly died while in operation. Wondering if taking it apart and cleaning will do anything. Can't buy a replacement motor without it costing more than a whole hood.
i cleaned mine was working for 1 week and now has no voltage going to the motor but the lights are working fine. I will figure it out when i have more time . Any suggestions ?
Is the grease you use regular vaseline? I currently have my device open, and the only thing i'm still unclear about is what type of oil/grease to use to unblock the (stuck but not dead) motor unit
@@TIRestoration i found a WD40 spray in the kitchen, some gear grease in a toolbox the previous tenant left, and it bleeping works again o.O thank you for the quick reply, from all four in this house!
I have a virtually identical motor but the springs are tiny. The motor axle is free to move up or down about 1cm and causing the fan to scrape against the housing. Any thoughts?
If it is the same it might be the nut in the center of the fan has come loose, you can adjust the fan up or down and tighten it well, you can also check the video at 10:40. good luck
The nut us tight. The issue is that the axle is free to move backwards and forwards along with the armature so that the fan hits either side of the housing.
This a single phase induction motor that has a capacitor in the auxiliary winding circuit to produce a greater phase difference between the current in the main and auxiliary windings. It starts with the help of a capacitor. Good luck

Sometimes it's worth taking it apart to see what could be the problem, before buying a new one. Good luck

You can measure if the is a voltage going to the motor. Good luck
@@TIRestoration the termal fuse on the motor was faulty
Does cleaning the outside of the motor with the wire brush improve its operation?
yes, the motor can then lose its heat better
Ahh yes ok, thanks for a very informative video.
Where this type of motor available. Can it be fitted in Glen chimney hood. please advise.

I used gear grease, you can use WD40 to unblock the motor unit and then grease or lubricate oil for the moving parts. good luck

I have packed this with a couple of washers to minimise the axle movement and it seems to work. Thanks again for the video.
