Agrigento is known as the City of the Temples for its expanse of Doric temples of the ancient Greek city located in the so-called Valley of the Temples, included, in 1997, among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Agrigento was named the Italian Capital of Culture for 2025. Every year, in Agrigento and in the Valley of the Temples, one of the most anticipated and fascinating events in the region takes place: the “Mandorlo in Fiore” Festival, a festival dedicated to the beauty of almond blossoms, which begin to bloom in the first days of February, transforming the landscapes of Agrigento into an explosion of white and pink petals, symbolizing the passage between winter and spring. Folk groups from all over the world participate in this splendid gathering party.
Agrigento è nota come Città dei Templi per la sua distesa di templi dorici dell'antica città greca posti nella cosiddetta valle dei Templi, inserita, nel 1997, tra i patrimoni dell'umanità dall'UNESCO. Agrigento è stata nominata Capitale italiana della cultura per il 2025.Ogni anno, Ad Agrigento e nella Valle dei Templi, si svolge uno degli eventi più attesi e affascinanti della regione: il Festival “Mandorlo in Fiore” festa dedicata alla bellezza dei fiori di mandorlo, che iniziano a sbocciare nei primi giorni di febbraio, trasformando i paesaggi agrigentini in un’esplosione di petali bianchi e rosa, simboleggiando il passaggio tra inverno e primavera. Gruppi folkloristici da tutto il mondo partecipano a questa splendida festa aggregante.
