Very nice to know that some of these are still out there. Every time I find a model VW truck I purchase it for my shelf. Thanks for sharing this find with us, and keep up updated.
They are still out there. Seems like these days the classifieds have more "wanted" ads for Volkswagens than "for sale" ads. Guys paying big money are scooping them up all over the country but you still hear of deals popping up all the time for very reasonable prices. Its kind of sad in some ways to see these Old Buses that 15-20 years ago weren't even given a second look by the masses turned into a status symbols and tax write offs these days.
Hope whoever bought is leaves it just like it is...love the look! Love the turk green! Hope get to see video of it running and on road soon! Loves these old trucks!
you probably dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my gf lately :)
smiffy1071 Mustie1 or Darren would have had it running in no time at all. Hopefully we'll have a part 2 here shortly once I can get back over to Kyle's with some ignition parts. JC.
Mark Stang My buddy Kyle bought it. He is leaving the body as is other than plugging a few holes as necessary. He'll probably slam it and just have some fun with it. All of his cars are Patina Cars. This one was perfect for his collection. JC.
Sad story, me and two friends all of us 19 yrs old bought a 67 bus we where so excited had dreams and plans. We had it about a week n half. Drinking in the bus on rural country roads bad tires bad breaks. My buddy put into a ditch. We all cried and was depressed for over a month. Still miss that bus.
Yeah that's sad - don't drink and drive. I guess you guys learned the hard way. Ditched my souped up VW 1600 TL, not because of drinking, but because bad weather and bad tires. As it turns out, worn out summer tires do a terrible job getting a grip in the snow. lol
I'll take the Vanagon she had in the garage! Not quite the colours I was looking for, but it's an early T3, maybe air cooled. I'm hoping that your rescue truck is a VW. There is something poetic about having an old VW being rescued by a newer VW.
cidercik She had plans to sell the Vanagon to a Nephew. I've rescued a few VW's in my Vanagon but my main tow rig these days is a beat up old Duramax I bought from a Salvage Auction. JC.
Are Vanagons pretty hard to come by in the UK? I was under the impression that there were plenty of them to be had over there. I see a fair amount of people shipping Syncros Stateside from your part of the world. JC.
Vanagons were called Transporters here and many of them did not have side windows. The bays are much more popular in the UK, you see them more than T3s. The T3's are very popular in Germany. Would love an air cooled Vanagon but as I am thinking of moving to Scotland (to get away from the crazy brexiters) that a Syncro would be better. Show the Land Rover people how it's done!
Single Cabs were the cheap Split Window for a lot of years but it seems that in the last 5 years or so the prices have caught up with the other Split Buses. If you keep your eye out though you may get lucky and score a deal. We had our 59 single cab given to us for free. You never know. Best of Luck to you and thanks for watching. JC.
I think you are right. Just need to swap out some seriously crusty ignition parts and get the spark sorted out and I think it will fire. What air cooled VW did you used to have? JC.
Did you get any back story on that single cab? It's awfully rusty for being in Arizona...bet it spent a lot of its life elsewhere. Looks like the lady also had a early Vanagon tin top in her garage. Wouldn't mind having one of those!
Chris Freemesser It originally was an East Coast Bus. They pulled it out of a field in 1999 and it has been following them around ever since. Luckily they never tore into the body and it is pretty much exactly the way it was when they got it in 1999. JC.
Grand Canyon? I find myself curious about the stamp in the garage slab, wonder what the date is. Huh, is that a light on the roof of the cab? Nice old rig!
Were you stopping over with Pete from SWRNC/DIY auto school in Moab Utah on your way back? Nice single cab, I have a 55 single cab here in Sydney Australia. Cheers Steve
porsche356a I don't know Pete. My buddy Stewart lives in Moab and runs the Chevron there. He has a couple Buses and always has a spot for me to crash for the night. JC.
soap Body will be mostly left as is. Probably reinforce the hinges on the gates and plug a couple holes in the front floor. Kyle likes stuff low so it will get slammed, stored inside out of the weather and enjoyed on nice sunny days around Twin Falls Idaho. JC.
~ Oh man, I thought you bought it, would make a great work truck for your company. Are you able to ball park what your buddy paid for it? I'm going to go long and guess $9500.00
Sigman Floyd Your guess is a little high. He actually paid less than half that. I'm actually surprised nobody local jumped on it. It was on Facebook with "best offer". It is a little rusty but it has a very unique look and my friend Kyle loves Patina VW's so it was right up his alley. JC.
Sorry to disappoint. I had limited time and was at a buddies shop with very few parts available. Maybe we'll get it running next time I'm at his place. JC.
We actually got this one for $4K which I thought was a pretty good deal. I'm surprised there weren't any local guys jumping on it. It cost us another grand or so to go pick it up. Would have been a steal for a local. It was posted "best offer" on a Facebook group. Luckily my buddy Don Eastman noticed it. JC.

Snagged it in my hood. Damn
That was a good score or love it good luck
Nice lookin old bus.
Thanks for watching Ron. JC.
Can’t wait to see what Darren, AKA mustie1 makes of this....
smiffy1071 Mustie1 or Darren would have had it running in no time at all. Hopefully we'll have a part 2 here shortly once I can get back over to Kyle's with some ignition parts. JC.
@@Volkswear so what are rhe plans for this unbrushed diamond?

Yikes. Sounds like you were lucky to walk away from that one. Hopefully lesson learned. JC.
Definitely learned a bitter lesson thankfully Nobody was injured. Nearly 28yrs ago and we still mourn for that bus.

Oh well, just as well. The delivery costs to the UK would be killer anyway....

Cool! Any idea the purpose/use?
Nice..👏👏
