Really love the work that you do on this Single Cab VW Truck. I have my Dad's 1966 VW Bug and trying to get it back on the road. All of the VW guys out there that post videos on TH-cam have helped me out. Thank you
I think the thing I like best about Mustie's vodeos is he is a real guy making due with what he has, Not a guy in a fancy garage with all new tools working on clean things, He gets his hands dirty real American stuff ! Thank you Darren !
Mustie1, I'm always impressed when junk yard dogs come back to life, once at a junk yard, they are left for dead, hearing them run and seeing them move is just way cool.
Loving your work Mustie1! Re-watching the whole rustoration series on Crusty. Greetings from Finley NSW Australia…just gone into COVID lockdown again. Just noticed the chiropractor sign in your driveway…I’m a Chiro and didn’t see it the first time round.
This is going to be a fun project to watch! I bet you will have fun doing it too. I'm glad you are going to keep as much patina as you can, it will look awesome.
New to your channel but enjoying it alot so far. Like others, I'm looking forward to seeing the work you'll be doing on the VW, and anything else that you take the time to show. Thanks for sharing, Chris Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
Saw one at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona, a few years back...slammed on the ground...patina in SPADES...rolling advert for tetnus shots....but GOD...the presence...couldn't stop looking at it...get'erdun...n' have fun!!!
Well that looks amazing mustie1 good job. Can't wait to see the single cab done. I know this is an old video but it's exciting to see the process starting for me the first time.
So now I'm watching the single cab restoration for the third time!! Crusty and Mustie are really fascinating me. They helped to turn my oldtimer kind of taste upside down (from "the more Pebble Beachier the better" to great patina payable/driveable restorations). Unfortunately the single cab playlist isn't complete respectively contains only some videos from the beginning (I wonder why it is so?).
Y'know, the story of that single cab from start to making it into your hands would probably be very interesting. I wonder if any of the people involved with the lumberyard are still around. Nice to finally see that baby having it's turn inside the shop... can't wait for all the vids!
Youve done a smashing job of the toyota, and really fast :-)) That vw flatback is very unusual, possibly the last of its kind for that company. As allways you will gently bring it back from the jaws of death, as interesting as your amazing vw van, and that is beautifull :-))
I like the patina on this old beast better than if it was all shiny and restored. A little WD-40 or used engine oil rubbed onto the body would make it look great and it kind of freezes the rust in suspended animation.
1959 was the year I was born, I have to admit it looks in better shape than me! If you can at least spruce it up there may be hope for me after all! I will watch with interest and my fingers crossed.
there is a lot of directions you can go with this. im excited to see what path you will go down with it!!! p.s. does this have the drop down sides on it. I don't know much about these single cabs maybe they all do. all I know is I have seen them with the drop down beds on them before. good luck and have fun.
That is an awesome truck, you should never sell it, but if I were you I would put the original 30hp engine back in it, it makes the truck neater, okay have s good day!
Hi Mustie has your truck got the chassis number stamped on the right-hand side of the rear rubber....... I don't mean on the plate......I'm talking stamped into the trucks metal itself.....any idea when they started doing this? Thanks for your time, great videos 😉👍
One minute you are creating rust, the next you don't want to drill a hole to mount your air cleaner because it might rust Very cool build. It must seem strange to restore a vehicle, to have your hands on every single part, to do a tremendous amount of sheet metal and fabrication work, but not really alter the appearance to much. It seems so out of the norm. Anyways very neat build your a very talented individual
I got a question, i hope you find time to answer. I got a 2003 dodge ram 1500 van. Just rebuilt the transmission. My first ever, its a 32rh same as a904 with a few small differences. It seems to be burning the fluid. Why is my question? It has a gear style pump, all looked good there. baffled! help! lol Jack
I am really looking forward to this segment. since you wont sale me this one I have been checking the interwebs daily for one... please hook me up... lol
mustie1 thats not too bad. i still really like it and would want it regardless. i guess in ontario we are just used to all the rust. let me know your price when your done...
The Toyota looks much better and like you said, it will live till the next hit or two. I'm glad to see you working on the single cab, it should be a really cool project. Do you think that delivered fire wood in its time or what? I was noticing there was another car in the tent garage under the cover, is that the mustang or what?
Dear Mustie1: Thanks for answering. May I get your email address respectively is it shown somewhere? I want to mail informations about high quality body sealing compound (this fantastic stuff also glues nearly all materials together without becoming hard or staying too soft). Furthermore info about another product/way for visually aging things (metal and wheels on your beautiful bikes like Black Knight and and and). So long. Best regards.
Mustie1: Beg your pardon but there is no button/stuff to click on!? Maybe I need new glasses, maybe utube in Germany is a little bit different? I'm able to see what you subscribed (for example Kirsten Dirksen, same as me by the way!). Can also see featured channels and all of your videos and playlists. But can't find your Email address anywhere at all....

Great videos on sharing the character of these old single cabs. Just purchasing a commercial fleet NOLA 59 Single Cab myself. Thanks for the insight.
I've been waiting to watch you work on this single cab! I owned one once. It's like memory lane!

Awesome! I once had a 1968 convertible that was modified with oversized tires. Wish I had kept it!
Love It, Hope to find one also! Looking forward to your progress on this project Thanks for sharing!
I love this. I think I'm find finding a new desire and addiction!!! lol I'd love to renovate one of these. You are a lucky man!
Back in the mid sixties, my dad and his twin brother each had a 59 just like this one.
Well that looks amazing mustie1 good job. Can't wait to see the single cab done. I know this is an old video but it's exciting to see the process starting for me the first time.
The pick up turned out nice. This next project is going to be interesting to watch.
The tent garage would be a great storage place for Farnicastaffs in the winter....Crusty is looking good....!!!
OMG, I can't believe it ran enough to get it into the garage! The little truck that could!
I think I have been as anxious as you to finaly get the single cab project under way.
So now I'm watching the single cab restoration for the third time!! Crusty and Mustie are really fascinating me. THis is what I have been waiting for the reason I subscribed love the vw single cabs
What's really amazing is that it's from Tennessee... and "Linoleum" is spelled correctly.
now that was funny,,,
Great job on the Tacoma. It's a sin to junk a Toyota truck - I'm glad to see it'll be back on the road again!
Saw this thing at transportfest this year looks awesome
Looking forward to this project!
Awesome I've been waiting for this one. Please keep the vids coming. Can't wait to see this one back on the road.
That truck is a year younger than me, and it's in better shape than I am in.
great looking truck!... i wish i had one and a double cab!!
Youve done a smashing job of the toyota, and really fast :-))
That vw flatback is very unusual, possibly the last of its kind for that company.
As allways you will gently bring it back from the jaws of death, as interesting as your amazing vw van, and that is beautifull :-))
I'm interested in this project.
It's great that you have the newer engine in it, too.
I like the patina on this old beast better than if it was all shiny and restored. A little WD-40 or used engine oil rubbed onto the body would make it look great and it kind of freezes the rust in suspended animation.
I HAVE BEN waiting for this project to come up I can't wait to see how you tear into it ..FINS UP..
Looking forward to the progress.
Sweet! This should be fun!
Looking forward to this one, mate, as my Dad had one very similar. :-)

Looking forward to this project.

Great job on repairing that toyota

Looks like one I've seen up in northern VT years back. Vermont is tough on VWs. But they are a treasure trove for pre 65's.
+dan hill this came from southern vt about 14 years ago
OH!! that is a thing of beauty!!

Hi Mustie has your truck got the chassis number stamped on the right-hand side of the rear rubber....... I don't mean on the plate......I'm talking stamped into the trucks metal itself.....any idea when they started doing this?

Haaa. Been dreaming about this single cab for a long time...
love it! patina build?
i like crusty and your Videos are awesome
the taco looks tougher with a bent up hood.
like its already got a fat lip,,
that VW is so unique... this is the only one I've ever seen. would be a neat ratrod.
sat mustie marathone, its kinda a rat rod build, but trying to keep it vw a much as possible for a low budget,
you got it... got to catch up when I can
*Going to baja bus her?*
Some mustie magic...If I remember that was pretty well rotted out allover the place.
When he is moving it sounds like it about kills it.
I am really looking forward to this segment. since you wont sale me this one I have been checking the interwebs daily for one... please hook me up... lol
if you see how rusty it is you wouldent want it,
mustie1 thats not too bad. i still really like it and would want it regardless. i guess in ontario we are just used to all the rust. let me know your price when your done...
Nice but I think I would put the original engine back in- I always loved the pick-ups

The Toyota looks much better and like you said, it will live till the next hit or two.
