Word of the Day: Indonesian "Iya"
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 29 เม.ย. 2022
- Why use more words when one is enough? 🌝🇮🇩 How do you say "yes" in your language? 👇
*PS: Indonesian words don't have intonation, so when I say it depends on "how you say it", I meant context and expressions instead of literally how you say a word. Not having intonations (+using the basic latin alphabet) make Indonesian an easier language than many other Asian languages 😁
When you text your indonesian girlfriend and she just reply “Y” . U better run wkwkwk
wuahahahaha
tambah emot > ☺️
🤣😭😭😭
awokawokawok apa lagi kalau ngomong "terserah"😂
Fr bro
iya... iya.... means "no, i don't wanna do it mom. but I say yes so you stop bickering"
Ato IYAH (shut up already ill do it).
💀
SO TRUEEEE!!!!!!!!😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
PAINFULLY relatable
"Lah iya" is for agreeing someone with a angry and loud expression lol
aka nyolot 😂
Something like: I KNOW RIGHT???
Or if you add "?" at the end it'll become "is it really true?" with a shocked Pikachu face
@@kenny456100 No, it means "f*ck I forgot!" example, "today is math final exams!?" "Lah iya!?".
Lah iya ya lah iya itu.. Lah
Also don't forget the iconic..."oh iya ya" 😂
same with "lah iya ya"
"ya iya sih" 😊
"Woi, bestod"
"Ya?"
"Minta seribu dongggggg"
I like this girl. She has a very fun way of sharing linguistic information and she's multilingual too. Good job.
... and she has the finest collection of spoon-microphones...
I think what's unique about her channel aside from being funny, is her accent. She use different accents for different skits and that's just amazing lol really drives the point in. Her thick indonglish accent, and the american english accent, her german english accent... or something idk lol
@@kittenmimi5326 yeah! her accents are spot on (or at least the indonesian-english one is!)
@@katdoestuffYT she is Indonesian so that why
@@hudaahez1 i know but it’s still cool!
100 expressions in one video 😂😂😅
250 with no comment + ❤
Let me fix that
Iya
"Kan" is another word that can have different meaning too
Like Kan and kannnnnn different meaning 😂
@@fykarohimi8130 kan? With question intonation and kan with judgemental side eyes every mother said when their kids hurting itself
"anjir" too, but it's a slang word so it's not valid for this topic (standard Indonesian) I guess
Ini lebih ke Kalimat Partikle sih, semestinya Harus punya Lengkapan Di awal. Misal : Makanlah (Lah), Lakukanlah (Lah), Misalkan (Kan), Dan Diserahkan (Kan)
Bahasa Indonesia Ada kok Materi ini
@@siHijaukeren "Kan" in non-standard Indonesian can mean something like, "I told you!" or if you add "?" it can mean "Right?"
English : YES, YUPS, THATS RIGHT, YEAH, OK.
Indonesian Languages : IYA, YA, YE, IYE, YAH, HEEH, IYO, YOI, YOYOY, YOMAN, HOOH TENAN, YONGKRAY, EA.

My mom’s side of the family is from Indonesia and even though my sister and I don’t speak Indonesian, we’re definitely exposed to the “iiiyaaa” filler word haha
Jangan lupa buang sampah ya nak ya!
Ini di masukin ke mesin cuci ya, mama Minta tolong ya!? 😂😂
Tolong ya
Maaf ya
Makan dulu ya
I know what you meant😂
This is similar to the Korean word 어 (Oh) which could be used as :
Yes, No, *Thinking*, That's what I was going to say!, Oh, Really?, What?, Pardon? And more 😅😅
So ? It is in every language
@@Xinuniverse.I dunno it just reminded me of this word 😭 don't ask me ?

Currently swamped with Japanese but glad TH-cam randomly decided I needed to add an extra language to learn at the same time. Your videos are great!
Ganbare!
in German we literally have word mean exactly same thing its calld "ja"
The word of Ya actually come from Dutch so we do share the same meaning
@@fajriyanuar0601what's indonesian word for "yes" before the dutch?
@@RAINSUN_As far as I know it depends on the region. Because Indonesia consists of various tribes and each tribe has its own language. Before there was Bahasa Indonesia as the unifying language, we used our respective local languages to communicate. I am Javanese so we use the word "Nggih" for yes.
As sundanese, muhun or sumuhun, enya
@@fajriyanuar0601 iya di indo itu ga ada kaitan dg Belanda , Malaysia sana juga pakek iya / ya karena akar bahasa Indonesia & Malaysia itu bahasa Melayu yg dituturkan di kepulauan Riau , begitupun kata papa mama itu hampir disetiap bahasa ada dan bukan serapan" , kalau serapan Belanda itu kaya Handuk , kulkas , wortel , meneer, donker, sepur dll
Or when you say terima kasih (thank you) and they respond: iya (you're welcome) 😄
"Emang ea"
My favorite 😂
She's so goofy and cute! I'll definitely keep up my Indonesian studies with you!🥰🥰🥰
Iya means mom in a Nigerian language ❤❤

This girl is the master of facial expressions istg
You know all those expressions are understandable somehow.
Ekspresi nya topppp bgtttt... keren mbak nya
Ahhaahahah, interesting to hear that, as I have a Greek name Iya that means “Violet”)
That's exactly like Ie in Welsh! I can be used for just about every context! (also it's pronounced exactly the same)
Wow that killed my brain
iya😉 , now guess the expression
yaaahh
Also "Iya kan?" means "i know right?"
And i hope ur brain is fine.
it's the same in english...
yeah = yes
yeah... = sarcasm
yeah? = what is it?
yeeeaaah! = awesome
In Malaysia, our most used word is "ha" which can be used in any conversations. 😂
Ah/ha is the favourite when it comes to phone calls
@@penguinpingu3807 EXACTLY
As an Indian I would say it's the hindi equivalent of "acha"
Selalu amaze sama observasinya, good joob 😍😍
As Indonesian, I confirm this is 100% Correct
kamu berasal dari indonesia bagian mana? I’m british, half Indonesian and currently still learning lol.
I like your energy, keep it up
You don't even have to learn this. Body language and certain sounds are universal and propably hard coded into human brains.
thats almost like huh and uhm in english
Ya is really no different to yeah in English, a word having different connotations depending on the tone is pretty much relevant to all words.
no "ya" that's definitely for yes🧍
Aku suka mamamu, simple word for u friend😁😁😁
Indonesia is there too "Ya,Iya,Ho'oh,iye"
Mbak ini jago banget soal bahasa indo proud of you im from sragen city 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩

Now we kinda need that tone marks
Same in Indian 😂 for Haa
