We were running these this past winter indoors on a clay a track for 1/10 trucks and buggies they can almost put down the same lap times as the A main 1/10 buggy’s although I forgot to say they were also upgraded with hobby wing ESC brushless motor kit’s and aluminum shocks 👌very fast handled very well especially for how light they are!
Took me 2 days to read the manual and find out the throttle was at 75% and you can change it and the steering 🤙. Such a fun little buggy to run even brushed.
These things are awesome - handle great and fast (with brushless)! A bit of a handful on the rough stuff, though. Also, interest in these seems to ebb and flow but would love to see a box stock class at local tracks?!
While I mostly agree I have a few exceptions. I believe there shouldn’t be any brushed motors in cars over $250aud. If a kid is wanting to get into this hobby and has a small budget it’s beneficial to have the option for a brushed system while still being able to get a hobby grade rc with the ability to upgrade later on
As a first RC it is the best bang for the buck especially if it’s a first race car as your first RC. It has a decently fast charger, an esc and motor that are slow enough to run in your house, a servo that isn’t slow and tires that work good on nearly any surface (except wood obviously)

Is think this is a pretty nice little buggy, and the price is decent, especially since this is from a big brand. Personally though, I prefer my WLTOYS 144001, yes, WLTOYS is a small brand, but they make some of the best budget RCs IMO. The 144001 has a 540 motor out of the box, yes, you heard that right, a 540 brushed motor in a 1/14 scale RC. What speed does that produce? Around 30MPH with the stock 2s 1500mah battery! It has a metal chassis, 4wd (with a metal drive shaft, metal drive cups, metal dog bones, and metal CVDs), double wishbone independent suspension, front and rear, oil filled shocks, fully tunable shock position, camber, toe, front and rear. There are also plenty of aftermarket parts for it, not as many as say Arrma cars, but still a lot. The 144001 is RTR, you'll only need 4 AA batteries. How much for this sweet package you ask? $70-$85! I absolutely love this little car, highly recommend
Especially what the one your talking about and 124019 can do on a nice brushless system. easily go’s 60+ on a 1/14 and 1/12 and yes both stock 30mph is pretty fast but going faster will always be fun
Looks like a nice little sled. It just hits me in the face again how annoying it is that RC makers use a scale to describe the size of a car that is not a proper scale model of a real car, so it ends up being so wishy-washy that it is hard to tell how big the thing is. Yes I know, you told us. But usually if you want to get creative and combine bodies and chassis which are not meant for each other, you have a hard time figuring out what fits and what doesn't.
I've got the Mini-T 2.0. It's a nice car but my big complaint is that it's MASSIVELY overspecialized for racing and only really works on smooth surfaces. Which, granted, is kinda to be expected for a 1/18th scale stadium truck but we basically lost the Mini 8IGHT series for this thing, and the Mini 8IGHTs were far more versatile even if they weren't exactly good for rough terrain either. The tires are also, well... overspecialized for racing, in this case specifically for carpet and clay, and they wear out super quickly on pavement. So... yeah. I feel that while in concept this platform is great, it could have been executed a little better.
Looks like a fun little yard ripper. I bought myself an ARRMA Granite MEGA a few days ago as a birthday gift, so it's my first hobby quality rc truck. I'd like to eventually switch it to brushless, but for now I just upgraded it to some Spektrum SMART LiPo packs and a matching smart charger. I want to do it right and replace key parts with stronger metal versions before going brushless. So for now I'm gonna get some fun out of it in stock form before going too ham into buying any go-fast bits. :)
The only metal parts you need to make your mega a brushless one is the "power module" that houses the slipper clutch and has the motor mounted to it. It has a metal motor plate instead of all plastic like your mega has. Not much else you need. My 3s brushless arrmas came stock with mostly plastic parts and they handle a beating. Thing I break most is the half plastic main input gear, and its better to break that 7 dollar gear than something else.
@@CadgerChristmasLightShowThanks for the info, I'll have to look into it. I've also been wanting to change the stock 14mm hex's to some 12mm versions. That way I'd have more tire choices, I can get some nice road tires for thrashing about on paved surfaces so I'm not ruining my knobbies. :)
I love my mini b. I upgraded it with a cheapy brushless motor and esc from Amazon. Calculated speed is 50mph. I don’t have a gps or can afford one anymore so I don’t know the actual speed.
I was thinking of doing the same but I'm generally worried about cheapo electronics, especially motors. Which motor did you get? So many no-name options out there. The price of the brushed Mini-B is totally reasonable but more than half that cost to go brushless (an upgrade which I know darn well I'm going to want very quickly) makes the price go juuust out of my comfortable buying range. ($150 + $85 for the motor + receiver)

thank you for your service! if you'd like to get into rc racing\backyard bashing more seriously, id highly recommend getting one of these mini buggies, or something similar like a micro crawler. they are small, cheaper and easy to keep running, but they sure are loads of fun! plus you can throw everything in a backpack and take it wherever. i have some experience with both large and small scale, and while a larger car will generally be more stable over rough terrain, nothing beats watching the mighty mini cars tumble and flip like crazy. it really is something, and every day of driving, even at the same location, can bring a new experience. good luck and have an awesome time!
I am very disappointed by my mini t 2.0. Proprietary batteries and odd hex sizes mean this thing has a fraction of the support the original mini t did. The runtime was long enough it wasn't a concern, that I remember (20-30 minutes). With the charger, that's a tough one. The included charger outputs half an amp (0.5A) and I have a feeling we used one of our big proper chargers to charge. I'm guessing the included charger is at least an hour job. It's a great little buggy though, really zippy and quick.

@@AMain_Hobbies thanks for the reply that helps a lot. I think I’m going to try and grab a mini B pro roller tomorrow and that way I can get the bigger dual charger. Great channel and content! Keep up the good info
Great video!
I wanna know why the Mini T is 1/18th scale instead of 1/16th scale like the Mini B? Wouldn't you want both to be same scale?
I had a Losi mini desert truck that is broken, but will the brushless motor and castle esc work with this?
Love you brett
I just ran my Mini B at my local park. It's a blast to drive but I noticed that when I reverse the front wheels wobble pretty bad. Anyone else have this issue?
Yeah, it's the servo saver.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies would the aluminum servo horn solve that issue?
@@ag11b69 Yes.
-Brett
Is the mini b chassis compatible with the mini t parts to make the mini t a longer wheelbase? (With the exception of body mount holes) would it work?
Heck yeah it will work. Or just put the truck shock towers on the buggy, remove the wing and baad-a-bing! But yeah... the body fitment might be funky.
-Brett
I miss the Associated RC-18 lineup :(
Are they worth the price out of the box?
HobbyTown uses this vid on their webpage? Is AMain Hobbies affiliated with HobbyTown?
Yes sir, they partnered a few years back. AMain helps manage and operate their website, so there is some overlap.

Very nice track .
Good job, very nice vidéo my friend 👍👍
I’ll NEVER understand ready to run as you learn so much by building it yourself as it helps you set it up and repair/replace parts
I enjoy RTR. First thing I do is take it about 80% apart and check the assembly quality. Lock tight some things and put in my preferred fluids and oils.
@@joshuajkoplin well if thats the case why not just not buy RTR and just build yourself? Seems stable at best. I learned one time when i had a tamiya mini built for me and then when things happened i had trouble working on it. After that I NEVER did again. Full build for me
Notification gang!😀
POG lol
4:41 You sure about that, boss? Looks like 650mah, not 6500mah. Lol. Probably tough to get used to mini scale when you're used to larger scale.
Derrick, I run Arrma Typhon, LOSI DB PROs, and a couple SCTs. It's very easy to love this car. Once you pop that Brushless in there.....LOOK OUT! It's not supposed to be that fast. It's not supposed to be so good on carpet at this scale. BUT IT IS. I have a vid on my channel SpinRush RC. Check it out! Seeing is believing.
Wa bout the wltoys a959-b?
So I am going to grab this puppy, I lost my dog and I just need something to keep my mind busy. I've had all kinds of Losi RC's before. Are the replacement parts, hop up parts the same between the Mini T's and the Mini B?
EDIT: Saw they have them on their website, very nice. Can't wait to get this and get back into this hobby.
Most parts are shared between the T and B; the chassis is different, the body, the battery hold down and a few other small details; the bulk is the same though. It's a great little buggy that's fun indoors or out. Sorry to hear about your dog. Hopefully the r/c keeps you busy!

Great Video.
Why are orders taking so long to ship?
Our US based customers have received their stimulus checks making our demand greater. We will be back to full steam soon as we get caught up.
-Brett
Would a hatchback body fit it?
Nice testing,😀 but 🤔 hmmm... I'm thinking 4wd, if it we're almost has faster than any buggy can do.😂😉👍🧙
You think the mini B is fast with the brushed? Just review the Teton.👍
650mah not 6500mah i wonder if they make bidder packs
Kevin Talbot in the uk tested it on TH-cam and it is not very durable
I might buy this it looks cool

Years ago I had nitro buggies and just coming around to possibly getting an electric one. (the nitro ones were a pain in the ass as a kid and I'd get too frustrated.) Anyway, it seems that the best route to go is to just get the mini t 2.0 instead of converting anything to brushless. The rc car and conversion seems to cost either more or the same as the brushless.
Edit: Just saw you mentioned the prices at the end.
What about storage charging that little battery, just out of interest
You can't really with the included equipment. One would need a dedicated battery charger, or a device like this cell checker/balancer/discharger: www.amainhobbies.com/hyperion-eos-sentry-4-28s-battery-checker-balancer-w-store-mode-discharge-hp-eos8sent4/p860365

i posted my mini b for sale this morning with the brushless setup.... its not longer for sale after watching this.
Where are you located
What! Why would you sell it!? (the only acceptable answer is you want a different r/c car)

😄👍 such a fun little ripper , cheap to modify.
@@AMain_Hobbies took the ad down and brought it to my local track. Forgot how fun and fast around a track these little guys are.

Mini B is a fun buggy.
I think for how damn small it is, it's way too expensive. I can get me a wltoys 144001 for 40 dollars less, and it's a 1/14th scale. It's also in my opinion way more reliable, and capable. Also, it can go 35 straight out of the box, and comes with a battery.
That's the best part of a free and open market. You can buy your WL Toys buggy and the other guy can buy the Losi Mini-B.
@@goldenmanuever1176 yeah

New Subscriber here. I am 47 years old and a disabled US Marine Combat veteran, but I really miss my RC10. I'm new to the hobby, it's changed to me a lot. I don't even own a RC yet. But your video was awesome 👌 and made me want to start shopping around for a budget at first lol...like I said...new subscriber and I would appreciate it if you returned the favor. Great job on the video!!!
That's good bro, stay safe
thank you for your service! if you'd like to get into rc racing\backyard bashing more seriously, id highly recommend getting one of these mini buggies, or something similar like a micro crawler. they are small, cheaper and easy to keep running, but they sure are loads of fun! plus you can throw everything in a backpack and take it wherever. i have some experience with both large and small scale, and while a larger car will generally be more stable over rough terrain, nothing beats watching the mighty mini cars tumble and flip like crazy. it really is something, and every day of driving, even at the same location, can bring a new experience. good luck and have an awesome time!
@@TGP-vq4vi for sure, I'm gonna buy a small buggy next week
Petition for mini b 4wd:
Zero tire options for mini t/b 2.0 unless you want giant tires
I am very disappointed by my mini t 2.0. Proprietary batteries and odd hex sizes mean this thing has a fraction of the support the original mini t did. If you are speed running or racing on clay you will be fine probably. But this thing simply can't handle loose stuff at all. I've had other 2wd drive vehicles do fine but this one just did not handle good for me.
Hummmmm interesting mine handles great on rough stuff
@@chadthunderd1ck734 What tires are you running? I think because I'm racing time on a track it's really easy to compare to other cars in terms of overall performance. I have a video of a different car on my track that should give some sense of the terrain type.
I should say for transparency that I've been driving 4wd race buggies and truggies so my comparison isnt exactly direct. But I just couldn't get the mini t to stop spinning!
