    The drop-down outdoor table is such a fun little addition. Using a brand-name Petzl Micro-Trac for a 2 pound table is a hilarious little flex :P.

    • @CodyTownsend
      @CodyTownsend  3 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      Yeah, definitely a flex, but if I ever forget to pack one for a glacier trip I know where to find one!

    4:16 I love that he’s using a Petzl Microtrax with a stopper knot just for the style points when an eye hook would work. Totally my style 😂

    • @dougmarder

      Not a stopper knot. That's a halyard hitch. Aaarrrggh.

    • @andrewsteavpack9079
      @andrewsteavpack9079 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dougmarder Regardless, he could either use the microtrax teeth to grab the cord, or use a eye hook with a knot which is pretty funny. Utilizing the microtrax teeth to hold up a table would be really cool though

    • @Stwmaniak

    I have a winter van as well. I would love to see a follow up video after you have used the van for a few seasons. Any things you figured out, features you added, or removed? I am always looking for good ideas for our van and there is not much content for true ski/snowboard vans.

  • @TheMadMagician87
    @TheMadMagician87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ha, so many of these ideas are what I've been slowly building into my 2005 Merc T1N 4x4 Sprinter over the last few years. I have a similar background to the guys at Alpine and also love skiing, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised there are similarities in the ideas (mine has just been built in an 'I am much poorer' way!😊). L-Track is great stuff, I have it everywhere and also designed everything to be removable, that way I can haul the dirt bike and sports bikes that I race when not skiing and use the same track for tie down points. Also brilliant for flexible tie downs of all sorts of random stuff when in 'just a general van' mode.

    Nice for a custom build. Fairly utilitarian from the many I see. Not a diesel fan for cold and high altitude overnighting, though. Any issues with the diesel furnaces, yet? I prefer Propex propane furnaces, and I just doubled up with 13,000btu for those subzero nights. Like that you installed respectible solar. I did add a 20amp dc to dc charger for those cloudy short days to charge on the drive. You need a low watt microwave!-')

  • @LMBpunk7
    @LMBpunk7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For anyone wondering the quick difference in AWD vs 4WD.
    AWD: Always on, no choice whether all 4 wheels spin or not.
    4WD: Selectable, you can engage all 4 wheels when you want rather than all the time.

    • @samcheplick226
      @samcheplick226 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That…and the fact that 4wd is synonymous with a locking differential/transfer case while AWD does not.
