  • The knees are the gateway to a better golf swing. A longer, more powerful swing that is less stressful on the body - and who wouldn't want that?!
    Learn 5 KEY reasons why changing your knee flex is a GAME CHANGER and will help you improve your golf swing instantly!
    This only asks you to move your body in EXACTLY the way it was designed. All movements are within the body's normal range of motion, and by allowing your body to move as it was designed, you'll be able to swing more powerfully and effortlessly than ever before!
    So let me give you 5 reasons to change your knee flex and unlock the most effortless swing imaginable!
    1. To increase the turn
    2. To turn the hips on a tilted angle
    3. To facilitate inward hand path
    4. To reduce sway
    5. To relieve stress on the body
    When it come to the golf swing, most discussion involves TURNING the body back and through to create your ideal swing, however, this description is inaccurate and incomplete.
    The tilting motion that happens in the backswing, downswing, and follow-through is far less talked about, but far more important if you want to build a consistent swing. To complete a functional golf swing, golfers must turn on a TILTED angle, and to TILT correctly involves multiple body parts - especially the KNEES!

    This is literally the key to the golf swing, and few people talk about it. Watch any tour player you want, they all bend the lead knee in the backswing. This sets the whole swing in proper motion. So many things just automatically go right when you do this, and so many things automatically go wrong when you don't. This is definitely my number 1 golf tip now.

    Thanks and great vid. It has always frustrated and confused me to hear people say things like "90 degrees of shoulder rotation". It is not an accurate description. It is 90 degrees of body rotation measured at the shoulders. By just telling a beginner golfer (or not so beginner): "now just rotate your body so your left shoulder is pointing towards the ball but don't slide your feet around", everything is goodness. 100% of people will naturally move the knees correctly. It really should be the only way rotation is introduced. As always, in appreciation.

    Rob, I was struggling mightily with low point control and compression After watching the knee flex video all is well in my golf world. I found that flexing the left knee in the back swing allows me to simply “lean in” to the left and slightly downward in transition and then straighten the left leg coming into impact. I made excellent contact, my head stayed behind the ball with good right side bend and balls just rocketed off of the club face. So if I get the knee flex correct in the backswing my shoulder turn is adequate and I don’t have to add additional flex to the left knee on the downswing. The challenging part was the timing of straightening the left leg at/after impact. This will require more consistency but I easily added 20+ yards with mid and long irons. This aspect of the golf swing is way overlooked. Ok by me if it stays a secret. Thank you Rob!

    I tilt my spine left as the club swings back - I tilt my spine right as my club swings through - my spine opposes the clubs directional force - my knees / hips automatically rotate inwards - back on themselves - great with my driver

    When I first went to Golftec, the first thing we did was the knee flex / hip turn. Without fixing anything else I immediately started drawing / hooking (I was slicing), and I added a full club of distance across my whole bag. It felt like a "one weird trick" that actually worked.

    Logical next video would be to show, in the same methodical detail, how the knees perform during the rest of the swing. A lot of us lose the plot from here.

    Rob, your videos are great and at 40 I’m now hitting amazingly off a mat. However, I would love to see a video with tips on taking what you’ve become proficient at on a mat and transitioning that to hitting off the ground on a course which is never as level or perfect as a mat is. Thanks!

    Im having a problem with the weight transferring over to the back leg when turning in the backswing, Im pretty sure in the S&T golf swing it suppose to stay mainly on the front leg. where is the pressure being felt in the back foot during the backswing?

    Hi Rob, Love your videos. Does keeping the weight left possibly cause a lot of stress on the left hip and knee? I see how it takes stress off the right, but does it transfer that stress to the left? Thanks!

    Hi Rob...Great timing for me. I think I was collapsing my left knee (which I think made me over rotate and totally unlock my right leg) and kept hitting the fade. I worked on having my left knee go "forward" yesterday and hit some really great shots. My question is with feet flared out does the knee flex towards your toes or more forward towards the ball.

    • @robcheneygolf1
      @robcheneygolf1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The direction of the knee flex will be influenced by the foot flare. So the knee will flex more in the direction of the foot. A straighter foot would typically result in a more inward flexing knee, whereas a flared foot would be more likely to flex towards/over the toes.

  • @carlor.s.4742

    In bending my left knee, I used to turn it in toward my right knee, but now I try to just bend it forward which I believe you suggested before. I flare my feet, but I also pull my right foot back a little to close my stance. I saw another video which suggested this would cause a misalignment to the target. What do you think, Rob? I've seen other videos which say never close or open your stance,

    • @robcheneygolf1
      @robcheneygolf1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would disagree that you should never open/close your stance. There’s too many players on the Professional Tours that would fail that test and they’re clearly not suffering from aiming their feet left or right of their target! 🎯

    Moving the hands inside as much as you did is not a good idea. Easy to get stuck in there. Use you knees and hips more as you say. Stay connected.

    • @robcheneygolf1
      @robcheneygolf1  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I wouldn’t necessarily agree that it’s not a good idea. Of course, there is too far IN and too far UP, but the vast majority of golfers would benefit from moving the hands and the club more around them, or less. Obviously, some golfers do this too much, but I’m trying to speak to the masses of short hitters and slicers that exist in this world.
