As a student still on the chanter, on one hand the complexity of the instrument makes me nervous but at least I know the noises of frustration that I make are not going away, ever!
It gets easier but the instrument certainly has a mind of its own. I often think that something on the pipes changes every time the wind changes direction.
I can totally understand the frustration. I'm still grade 5 (applied for regrade this year), and the instrument often does exactly what it wants. I had an awful experience at the Fair Hill MD games this year when my drones cut out on me during my Piobaireachd. It was near 100° and the sun beating down just got them too hot I think.
It gets easier. My main issue with the chanter cutting out is that I am thinking too much about the tune or that my mind completely wanders off and I stop applying enough pressure.

Lol! Thanks for posting this. This is so me when I'm practicing.
Gets worse whenever people are watching 😁
so recognizable.. and it ONLY happens when the bloody camera is running..
Halo mate, just wanted to see what a beautiful instrument. Keep on playing. 👏👏👏
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Campbell drone regulators...
I'm old school. Moose valves and regulators just seem like extra stuff that can fail.

I understand as well. I have had similar drone issues, but in the cold. 2 of my drones cut out in the cold during a parade, too much moisture.
that guy must have nerves of steel...
😂😂😂
