Joe Butler - Bagpiper
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 ก.ย. 2014
Hi, my name is Joe and I play bagpipes 😁 My goal for this channel is to record and share every tune that I know. Some are traditional, others, not so much. This will accomplish a few things for me. First, it will force me to practice and play every tune I know and not just the common/popular ones. Second, it helps me to track my progress. And, finally, it is a great way to share my piping with friends, family, and piping fans around the world.
Thank you for listening!

Minnesota Games 2024 - Grade 4 Bagpipe solo comp. - Strathspey/Reel - Heather MacRae/Kate Dalrymple
Video of my Strathspey/Reel "Heather MacRae and Kate Dalrymple”, from the Minnesota Games. Thought my Strathspey was played well and my Reel was fair until my brain disconnected from my fingers at the end of the tune. I did not place in the top 6 out of 14 pipers.
Judges remarks:
-Good tempo.
-Pipes well set.
-Good expression in strath. Watch top hand work.
-Reel a bit brisk.
-Execution suffering due to speed.
-Some missed/mixed up G,D,E grace notes
-Good effort!
(Level 3 - The competitor has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in two of the following performance components: Musicality; technique; and tone.

Flower of Scotland - Bagpipes

“Flower of Scotland”, along with “Scotland the Brave”, is an unofficial national anthem of Scotland. The introduction of “Flower of Scotland” in 1967 was partly due to hostility amongst rugby and football fans toward the British national anthem “God Save the Queen” being used to represent Scotland. It was finally brought in as an unofficial anthem in response to “God Save the Queen” being conti...
Rocking the Baby - Bagpipes
มุมมอง 1218 หลายเดือนก่อน
Baby New Year has been in existence since roughly 600 B.C. and came about originally in ancient Greece. Every year, the Greeks celebrated Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility, and this celebration would include parading a baby through the streets in a basket, which represented Dionysus's birth. I LOVE SCOTLAND
Still the best version of this I’ve found. Thanks again for the chanter tutorial video. Workin on it!!
@@ricks4361 Thank you very much!
Awesome. Thanks so much!! That is one of the more popular and oft played hymns by our worship team and just saw the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band incorporate it into one of their championship competition sets. Very bold but sounded great. Immediately wanted to work this into a set I hope to play with our worship team at our service someday.
FMM sounded great. Definitely a good pipe tune.
Beautiful. I didn't know the story behind it, thanks!

I was listening to this theme and realized the melody sort of reminded me of sleep dearie sleep. To compare them I wanted to hear them both on the same instrument. I wasnt able to find an electric guitar cover of sleep dearie sleep, so naturally I searched for this next. Anyway this sounds great and I still think it sounds like sleep dearie sleep
Great Try!
Not bad
That was beautiful! I love bagpipe music! ❤

There is something special about the pipes. Thank you for thie rendition.
Dude, this is freaking awesome man
😂 thanks!
Nice history. Do you know if there are any recordings of the Italian folk song still around?
Not that I know of right off hand, but I am sure that some could be found.

Beautiful tune and a very interesting story, thank you!

Lol! Thanks for posting this. This is so me when I'm practicing.

This is awsome Where can I find the music sheet for this? Also for take me out to the ball game ?
Top Gun here - www.pinterest.com/pin/201817627043220543/ Ball Game I don't have written down anywhere. I think I found it for another instrument and moved it up or down a couple notes.
Sounds good, but it needs to be faster
Well played, mate! I'm just starting on this one.
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed it. It is a nice little tune.
Can you do a how to?

Stirring and heart wrenching
Loved it thank you❤
Good afternoon. i've been enjoying your piping series, and your goals of playing everything you know, and then moving on to learning other tunes. It's easy for any of us to get in a rut and play the same 30 tunes and never move on. I began piping in 1992 when I was probably too old to start. But, somehow I managed to play semi-pro for 17-years and pay a lot of bills, and meet and play for some rich and famous....and some not so rich and famous. Thanks for sharing your efforts, I'm listening and learning. I basically put my pipes up about ten years ago after playing my daughter's wedding.....and now I'm getting active again, for many reasons. Maybe I'll be the only piper at the old folks home... Thanks again, Cheers, Keith
Thank you for your story. I am glad you are enjoying. Best of luck back on your journey!
Ok so I'm heaps 🏴 🇮🇪 2
Whould it be possible to get the sheet music for this, i absolutely love this song and id love to learn how to play it

And now, making his way to ringside, Rowdy Roddy Piper!
Is that a hotel? What time was this?
Are you asking where it was recorded? It was at a community center. Same place as most of my videos recorded, just in the hallway instead of on the little stage area.
@@BirlyJoe I was making a joke. Didn't actually think anyone would play bagpipes in a hotel.

No offense but some songs should not be covered by Bagpipe….Guitar will still be the best by far
I feel the need! The need for.... bagpipes. This sound absolutely amazing.
Thank you.
There are songs that are just made for bagpipes and this is one of them.

Makes me want to buy bagpipes and teach myself how to play them.
Chanter cutting out is my problem
It gets easier. My main issue with the chanter cutting out is that I am thinking too much about the tune or that my mind completely wanders off and I stop applying enough pressure.
It's called The Marines' Hymn. Great performance.
Thank you. I will get that added to the title.
Chieftains version is excellent. March is also associated with Kintail area of Scotland.❤
I don't think I have heard that one, I will check it out. Thanks.
