  • How Good was Ivan de la Peña - Ivan de la Peña offered fans, players and coaches a thrill that we all waited for, even if it was fleeting at times.
Iván de la Peña was difficult. He was moody, but despite all of these traits, which ultimately held him back, he wasn’t a complex figure, rather a simple, understated man with an extraordinary ability in his right foot.
His ability to dazzle, to create, to inspire and to control was all vastly underrated throughout his career - especially by the several managers he had at Barcelona - but in the end, his quality stood out. Whenever he returned to the Camp Nou, he was often welcomed as though he was one of theirs, even though he played for one of their fiercest rivals and that is a testament to the man and to the player.
Regarded by the great Brazilian forward, Ronaldo, as one of his best teammates, De la Peña was an artist and he encapsulated everything that young footballers dreamed of becoming. An unrecognised hero, De la Peña persevered and built himself a career to cherish.

Incredible passing ability and vision at only 20 years old. If he lived out his career injury free, he would have been the greatest passer of all time, no debate

Finally! he was a mix of Kroos+Valderrama+Iniesta, in 1996 he was one of the most talented players. Ronaldo himself said de la Pena was his best teammate. He has never fulfilled his full potential. He is now the agent of Gavi..

In my opinion, De La Peña was one of the best passers (i don´t know if the term is correct, sorry if is not) in football history, an specialist in the last pass as good as Laudrup or Zidane, at least in terms of vision and key passes. His association with Ronaldo Nazario in 1996-97 season, for example, was legenday (in words of the brazilian striker, De La Peña was the best partner he ever had for his style of play). Unfortunately, he lacked level in some other important aspects of the game (deffensive work, speed, heading the ball, composure at crucial moments...), and he had very bad luck with injuries. But in his prime, he was amazing to watch.

Only at 20 years old his passing and vision was seriously good. Not quite as good as Xavi or Pirlo, but if he never got injured, I'm 100% sure he would be the greatest playmaker ever.

He wasn't a flop at all. He had terrible luck with injuries and coaches, but he was an outstanding baller.

I will make a video about Harry Kewell (one of my favorite players in some old PES) but you have to wait because I already have a few videos in process and also some people already asked me to make videos about some other players, so I have to make those videos first but after that I will make a video about Harry Kewell so stay tuned.

I'll do the narration of your next video for free. You'll have more views if you ditch that awful text to speach voice.
