    I said Alpine PXA-H701 but that was not correct, actually an Alpine PXA-H800 gets an analog signal from the premium HU. You can see the full build by searching for keep_hope_alive 2014 Accord build log.

      Richard Vedvik Hello I would like to know, if I buy the same radio that you have I only need to connect the cables of my normal radio and it will work my car is a 2015 honda accord sport

      Michael sommers the premium touchscreen models have external components for FM, XM, ANC, HFL, and amplification. Those harnesses are not compatible with a Sport and would need to be rewired by hand, with the purchase of each component and wiring harness.
      Relocation of the sport HU to the trunk is easier and cheaper and allows for the install of an aftermarket double din.

    Hi Richard, very nice to find some one who really knows about the accord audio system. I have a 2014 accord hybrid direct import from Japan. With navigation. The system runs in Japanese. It would be great if you could advice me in figuring out what part I need to change to get it running in English. Thank you in advance.

      Eranjan Venura Parua i would initially assume it would just be the head unit. The FM amplifier may also need adjustment. First step would be taking photos of the rear of your head unit to compare with the US version for connector compatibility. I have US schematics but not Japan.

      Hi there. This is not a trivial amount of effort. There is more info here: www.driveaccord.net/threads/2014-sport-swapping-hu-for-premium-touchscreeen.405098/
      Basically, you have to custom-wire the head unit. The only wiring that matches is the main harness, the iMid harness, the rear camera harness, and the USB harness. FM/AM, Bluetooth, XM, and Amplification are all external on the touch screen and each has wiring and components that are not in the vehicle (with pushbutton). I did without FM/AM and XM. I have external amplifiers. I did source a matching bluetooth module and custom -built the harness by sourcing the OEM harness and pinning it myself.

  • @tylerp2600
    @tylerp2600 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That looks awesome! If I didn't upgrade to the touchscreen module, how much do you have invested into these upgrades? Total: wire harnesses, etc.
    Thank you

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the touchscreen was $240 as a salvage (taken out of a wrecked 2015). HFL module to regain BT will be another $80. FM is also external and you'd need that tuner . in my case, the aftermarket single DIN handles SQ listening /judging and the touchscreen is daily/convenient SQ. I haven't needed to buy harnesses, just get units with the harness wires cut off (some sellers offer harnesses separate).

    How did you solder the rca pigtails because is 3 wire per channel i think, also the oem unit has the bass roll off or it’s done at the oem amplifier?
    Thank you

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The touchscreen HU has a balanced output so two signal wires and one shield. With balanced inputs on the PXA-H800 i only needed the signal wires. Shield is ground and I have grounds tied separately. The touchscreen HU has no bass roll off, it has a flat response. Any EQ or ANC is at the factory amp.
      Today, it makes more sense to upgrade to a 2016 or 2017 model for CarPlay or Android Auto, and deal with the fitment issues (different sizes, slightly).

    Hey Richard, is it possible to swap out the head unit in a 2015 Honda accord sport with this unit in your video? My end goal is to get CarPlay working but I didn’t hear you mention anything about CarPlay.

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, John. I don't have an iPhone so I wasn't able to check carplay. You need more than the head unit, you need all of the external components as well for FM, BT, HFL, and an amplifier. All that requires custom wiring as well.
      If you sourced a 2015 Touring model head unit, and got all of the external components, you would have all of the features of that head unit and system.

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A ton of work is required including building custom wire harnesses while sourcing factory terminals since the wiring between the two trim levels is totally different. Also, you need to source all of the external components - the FM tuner, the HFL/BT module, the amplifier, the ANC module, etc. are all external and separately wired.

      Possible, yes. very time consuming and expensive to buy each separate piece and custom wire everything. beat bet is find a wrecked EX-L and have all of the components removed with harnesses. separate HFL, tuners, amp, etc. different cameras and triggers. you will need schematics for both cars.

    • @richardvedvik979

      You need much more than the radio. Everything is external
      You need the FM tuner, HFL module, and the external amplifier. ANC and XM are optional. You also need all of the wiring harnesses from each piece (i.e. a few inches of wire left on each harness) since that wiring doesn't exist nor do the harnesses match.
      Then you need to pay someone to custom wire all of the wire harnesses, assume 10 hours of effort at the standard labor rate in your area + wiring costs.

    • @richardvedvik979

      Gilberto Ovalles Yee are you looking to put an aftermarket head unit in? If so, you have three primary options.
      1. Buy the expensive Metra kit which retains the 8" iMid screen.
      2. Bury the factory radio in the dash to retain the 8" iMid screen.

      If instead you want a different stock radio, like I did, it's really difficult to change to touch screen like I did because FM, BT, Amplification are all separate pieces that need custom wired. A 2014-2015 LX, Sport, or EX push button should be a direct swap.

      regi mathew, the cost us based on materials and labor. materials are easier to determine, just choose new or used and search for parts. the touch screens have external components the base model does not so you'll need to wire all components. you can buy the premium harnesses but they are pricey. you can custom wire but that is labor intensive.

      I paid $250 for a salvage head unit. You may want HFL, XM, ANC, Tuner, or the amplifier.

    Sir i have a complete dash with gps and the touch screen its 2014 its can work on my sport

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      cristofer gomez You will need all of the external components some of which are mounted at the rear of the vehicle .FM, XM, ANC, and HFL Modules are external and required and need to be wired .The wiring in the sport is different

    Hi dear , where i can find gps screen for my honda accord LXI 2014 ?

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding the OEM premium +GPS unit basically requires buying all of the components from the Touring model and wiring them yourself, including buying/building the harnesses. An aftermarket solution is much more reasonable.

    i have 2 screens but the head unit is not navigation and have no phone , can I swap to navigation and what parts I need. thanx.

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      nagmstar sorry for the delay, i just saw your question. a swap to navi is possible with enough parts, but it will be tedious. you can view the necessary parts by comparing exploded diagrams with factory schematics. custom wiring will be needed unless you buy the factory wiring.

    I have a 2015 Honda Accord LX I want to change the head unit to a touch screen. Can I purchase a OEM touch screen unit and from the same year and just swap it out. Can I do that and will it work?

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      before the amp has a flat response. after the amp has bass removed (high pass filter and ANC ). tap before the amp and connect to the epicenter RCA inputs. my build log has the wire harness pin-out

    Hey what's the procedure of swapping out the 2014 accord ex factory head unit with the 2014 exl touchscreen head unit?

    • @richardvedvik979
      @richardvedvik979  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tedious. Premium head unit has all external modules for FM, BT, HFL besides amplification. Non of that wiring is provided in the lower trims. Premium HU has a clean 3V RMS balanced output, which is why I'm using it. iMid screen, USB, main power, and steering audio controls are the same, vehicle controls are the same. I have some detailed threads on driveaccord.net and hondaaccordforum.com as keep_hope_alive
