    Made the switch to Perfect Drums after watching your vids, the great out of box sounds, sampler function and the fact that it doesn't eat my GPU like Pacman just fits my situation wayyyy better. You're vids have been really helpful to me dude 👍

    I really liked the drum and guitar sounds you achieved here! The drums definitely have that largeness and realness to them, which compliment the heavy guitars greatly! Great job!

    So, there is a slightly faster way to program into the piano roll without having to click each note in. You can program in bars and set some hot keys to split notes and you can use the arrow keys on the numpad to move the notes. It will take a bit of time to select hotkeys, but it will dramatically quicken your drum programming. There’s also reascripts called note selector and you can select say every second or third note and move them that way, say you’re trying to program a blast beat or something like that

    I love reaper ! Fast, easy and you can pretty much change everything about it! I recorded something with Perfect Drums this week, it's really surprising, I'm more into Superior Drummer and I tried the GGD a few times, but this Perfect Drums sounded the best just out of the box.

      Definitely man and I like PD because not as many people use it so I can sound a little more unique.

    You should do a live cast of you putting a track down, that would be awesome. I know a lot of people have done it but they don't come up with riffs like you do. It would be great to see some of the processes you go through to come up with those amazing riffs.

    They sound great... I wish I had the patience to program them myself, lol. I got to meet a cool Swedish dude to program my beats for me though, so that's at least a plus. This is a nice tutorial for people who *do program their own drum tracks though... and it sounds great and stands out. Good stuff man.

    Great Video! Maybe you can share some of your MIDI Files or make a library from your already exisiting MIDI tracks? Espescially your snare rolls, tom fills etc. are always really really good and realistic. This is for me by far the hardest part when it comes to programming drums...

  • @cmd_f5
    @cmd_f5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome and detailed walkthrough. :D I'm very picky with fills and such too. Can easily spend half an hour for 30 seconds of drums.
    I use a MIDI keyboard which speeds things up quite a bit though.
    Question: Do you usually have riff ideas first and track them before the drums, or do you write drum parts first and then track guitar?
    I've done both and like doing guitars first most of the time.
    Cheers 🍻

      Thanks man. Might have a riff or part that's cool and I'll get some basic beats done over it. I'll tweak the drums a lot too man. All fun right!

    You must be a mind reader. Each time I think of something recording related I find you just posted a new video about it. Do you always use the piano roll for the drums programing? What's the best way to email you with particular questions?

    does anyone know if perfect drums is easily compatible to use electronic drums with? I'm looking for something that's like the paid big brother version of mtpowerkit...it's the only decent sounding vst I've been able to use with my roland kit without having to mess with kontakt. every time I've tried to use kontakt I end up wanting to throw my pc out the window. btw redington you rule dude. I'm a drummer/guitarist and have been using the whole covid situation to build a little cheap home studio and write some music and I watched a ton of your content and learned so much (currently using rvxx and one of your IRs to get that c h o n k y tone) you do some really good work bud keep crushing it

      You might be having trouble with sub build up on the kick. You could automate a high pass filter on blast sections or a dynamic EQ to prevent the sun going out of control.
      Definitely reducing the velocity will help too. If you imagine a drummer having to hit quickly, they will have to hit less hard the faster they go

    What is your opinion on GGD?

    • @resington
      @resington  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      GGD was my first choice but It's for kontakt which I wanted to avoid for many reasons. Sound wise GGD is world class dude. Great stuff. Perfect drums has the built in sampler which I think is incredible and now I can't live without.

    Thirsty years on and 'The Black Album' is still the standard for massive, fat metal production. It's crazy that people can now get that sound in their bedrooms. Metallica spent nine months and about a million dollars to do it back then.
    If someone manages to do a bedroom record that matches Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' then please let me know.

      @@zsmusic8708 The sampler rules and has most other plugins beat. The crash cymbals on PD can get a bit fake but that's my only complaint.
