    It's better to get the pressure out in small eruptions than one big one!

      Yes. It's when it stops erupting that those nearby should be concerned.

    Wonderful video.... thank you for uploading, living in Alaska and having so many Volcanoes here. I wish closer ones was more active just to see this, we do hold the record for the biggest eruption in the Northern Hemisphere. Katmai Volcano did it....love that Volcano

    Calling this an active volcano is an understatement. Anak Krakatau has grown much larger just since I first heard about it some 40+ years ago.

    Great video that is even more interesting now that half of Anak Krakatau has disappeared.

    I don't think this is Krakatoa, but rather Anak Krakatoa.

    • @ysteinLundAndersen
      @ysteinLundAndersen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Anak-krakatau is just another cone of the "mother" krakatau. So its considered one volcano.

    • @Shaden0040
      @Shaden0040 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ysteinLundAndersen Krakatoa blew itself up. Anak Krakatoa means son of Krakatoa. Thought they are of the same volcanic system they are different island volcanoes. They are considered geologically and geographically separate entities.

    • @ysteinLundAndersen
      @ysteinLundAndersen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      First of all its not Krakatoa (thats a mispelling, its Krakatau. Secondly its not 'Son of Krakatoa', its 'Child of Krakatau'. (Anak is Child in the Indonesian language.) And yes Anak-krakatau is a new island, but still part the Krakatau volcano. 😀

      Yes. I believe you're right because there are three. Which is the worst one? I I watched a documentary about all three once & I thought they said the smallest one could be the worst one because of being the smallest cone?

    • @ysteinLundAndersen
      @ysteinLundAndersen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This how how krakatau and all volcanoes grow in size, they erupt. For now its only minor activity, as seen in the video, compared to the activity seen during the major 1883 eruption

    • @roberthale8407
      @roberthale8407 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ysteinLundAndersen Oh I agree, and I love the video. This activity might be what the volcano was doing during it's low level period during the summer of '83 before it went completely berserk. Were you feeling any movement in the ground during this activity?

    • @ysteinLundAndersen
      @ysteinLundAndersen  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roberthale8407 felt no ground movement, however would probably felt it if I had landed on the island itself. But its a small island, Anak-krakatau, so some felt tremor in relation to the eruption is very common.

    The earth rotates on its axis. The sun's gravity mixes the inner layers of the Earth like a concrete mixer truck. High pressure and temperature releases magma from volcanoes like from valves.
