      As I’ve never met Paul, it’s very hard to say . The other Beatles were not so keen to praise the real Paul McCartney. I have a Physician friend who did have a radio talk show in NY in the ‘60’s. He interviewed the lads & also treated them for colds . He said they were funny, and cool , except for Paul . “Kind of a D*#k.”
      Who knows . I will forever wonder though , how he was ok w the fact that he received more royalties than his 50/50 partner John . This was always their verbal agreement
      Again , who can really say . Let’s just enjoy the music 😎.

    I watched the new doc, "Get Back" and I was moved by the part where Paul is defending John and Yoko in that he's a grown man, and he wants to be with her and they could not tell him that he couldn't. I felt like the hours and hours of film of making Let It Be showed the group of very intelligent, talented men whose music will never be forgotten and their progressive ideas were great. In this video for which I comment I still think the media or press, still here and to this day, try so hard to always find the squabble and negative things. Anyway, I am grateful for their music and message and for adding so much to my life!

    • @mirandaspencer6097
      @mirandaspencer6097 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Absolutely. What struck me about the film was the LOVE between these men who were more like brothers. And Paul's defending John's admittedly codependent relationship with Yoko was so kind; radical acceptance. If I didn't already love the Beatles this movie would make me do so.

      John and Paul were wise beyond their years and so astute in their observations of people. I think Yoko was such a gutsy woman with tremendous backbone and strong character. John's intense attraction to her spoke volumes about him as a man as well. No leggy models or social conventionality for him. Just someone equally unique.

    • @bigsistahtips
      @bigsistahtips 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yes, you can also tell that Lindsay-Hogg was trying to make Paul say something negative about Yoko because they started talking about her because he asked. Just like when he asks Ringo about India. He even says that he needed drama for the documentary. That's why he thought about the rooftop. Because he knew the police would come knocking to make them stop. He didn't expect to find such a polite group of people. Even when George leaves, they give him space and go to his place the day after and that other day. They don't yell or try to grab him. They just disengage because they know it's gonna make things worse.
      I like it when George is trying to be passive-aggressive and says that all of them should be themselves and they aren't, and Paul just answers: "mm" and John says: "All act normal, then" haha. They didn't want to fight him at all.

    • @djstarsign
      @djstarsign 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      So did I. All these decades, the public narrative was so wrong. Even as a Beatles fan, I knew that the Yoko villain story was a bunch of crap-that Klein was more of the figure that “broke up the band”. But after watching the documentary, they seemed lost as if searching for a figure to step in when needed.
      Was very happily surprised to hear how Paul responded when asked about Yoko.

    I think Paul was for the team, he loved the Beatles, he loved the guys. Wanted to keep them together. Probably a perfectionist which is why George walked out but name a mainstream song the Beatles did which is not a masterpiece for the times & still is 50 years later.

    • @のんちゃんのんびり
      @のんちゃんのんびり 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      And yet it was Paul who initiated legal action to officially dissolve the name and brand. That action was part of the reason why Michael Jackson was able to purchase the bulk of their songs.

    • @johnp515
      @johnp515 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@369284ab Ludicrous to put Martin ahead of any of The Beatles in attributing their success. In 1964 American commentators were already calling them “The entertainment phenomenon of the century” George Martin said clearly that in those early days his no.1 job was merely to balance the sound of their records between voices and instruments. For every little story of bits of musical advice he gave them of which there aren’t that many (say, starting “Can’t Buy Me Love” with the chorus) there are plenty more of The Beatles refusing his advice (insisting on the final chord on “She Loves You”) The most crucial was of course, to refuse to record a cover as their second single. They were in charge of their destiny from that moment.

    • @iburiedpaul7833
      @iburiedpaul7833 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      John P that’s a grossly ignorant opinion. The symphonic scores Martin wrote, mostly overnight after hearing an acoustic version of Eleanor Rigby, A Day In The Life, Strawberry Fields, I Am The Walrus and dozens more are nothing less than ingenious contributions to the brilliant songs the lads wrote. When the Beatles decided to step up the experimental compositions they leaned heavily on Martin’s wealth of knowledge in the classics and in all instruments and session musicians available. He scored and arranged all instrumentation outside of piano and guitars. To dismiss Martin as one who merely babysat the sessions is a childish observation.

    True Beatle fans know the truth. John and Yoko's life was not this idyllic love story sold to us. Yoko had her ulterior motives in seeking John out, and yes she stalked him and his family. People need to do their research, and not fall for the Yoko PR machine. Paul has to do business with her as an ex Beatle and so at this point he can't be honest about his true feelings about her. You can see him holding his tongue, and being quite uncomfortable when choosing his words when being asked tough questions about her in many other interviews. It's very apparent he can't say how he really feels for fear of repercussions from her camp. I will never forgive her for how she treated Julian period.

Cynthia was one of the kindest least bitter women you could ever imagine. She was always articulate and respectful when speaking of John. Yoko would go to their estate in England and threaten to kill herself outside on their lawn if John didnt give her money. Police were called and she was removed. John had his families phone number changed many times to avoid her. Why he wound up with her was shocking to many around him. She did stalk the family, and I believe Cynthia and those close to Lennon who back this story up.

      I once heard John say in an interview that Yoko didn’t know who the Beatles were before they met and she only knew the name Ringo because that means apple in Japanese.
      But I find it near impossible that there was not a single person alive at that time who did not know who the Beatles were, they even performed twice in her home country of Japan if I’m not mistaken.
      There is simply no way that she did not know who John was when they met.
      I’ve hear two different accounts of how they met. One is from Paul HE says that he directed her to John, because she had a business question. and then there’s another one is that they they met at a museum.

I honestly think she went for Paul first, and was shut down fast, and then began stalking John and his family as Cynthia has written in her book. The love story of John and Yoko is not entirely true and poor John was suicidal one year before his death. His personal tapes he recorded as a form of therapy are here on YT. Yoko Ono, the witch, sold them. Things that no one should hear went to the highest bidder. Ive heard them and they broke my heart. Do you think a woman that loved him would do that to him? Sell his most personal confessions and him talking about committing suicide as we hear him walk to the window and finally he decides to climb back into bed. He confesses to thoughts no one should hear and she sold those tapes. Do I believe John loved her? Yes. Did she love him? No and shes shown it by her actions. Lennon was forced to come to her defense and offer apologies on her behalf from the moment she appeared on the scene - not because of unwarranted attacks, but because her behavior demanded it. An insistence to appear on stage and howl like a wounded cat with Lennon during his musical performances to her bizzare public outbursts - set this this self proclaimed "artist" on the path to be one of the most detested public figures in history.

    Sean said last year in a radio interview that him and his mother didn't see eye to eye on many things when he was a teenager.... He wanted to go to boarding school in England to be closer to Julian and he wanted to live in England. He said he felt closest to his dad there ...spiritually..and hated living in America for many years.
    Yoko would not allow him to go which he said he held a grudge with her for that for a long time.

    The Beatles have always been cordial and still highly respectful of each other. They appreciate one another for their successes depended on them initially coming together and succeeding together as a band.
    With the recent videos shedding light on the Beatles with greater details and insights, it is interesting to note that they cared for one another and they always upheld that civility and cordial relationship despite many differences and fighting their internal desires or envy towards each other. Somehow they still got together and tried to make it work out even though you can tell a couple of individuals looked like they did not really want to be in the band again.

It felt like he was trying to be the grown up in the room while the rest of the band was a bit immature. They didn't seem like they cared to be in a band, but he did. He seemed a lot more invested in the Beatles than the rest of them and was maybe trying a bit too hard. He was also the only one who looked right into the camera and called out exactly what was happening. In the years since his insights are the ones that hold up to the test of time. Fortunately John came around eventually and admitted he was wrong about Alan Klein (and a lot of other things). I'm sure they would be great friends today if John had lived.

      Exactly. It was John basically flexing. And I'm a huge fan of John. The one thing that drove Paul even after all that reefer was competition for just the sake of it. John did not care for that and so deliberately fucked with Paul. They were past friends they were brothers there love for each other goes beyond words. John was just being his pushy self and Paul was being his self critical self. I used to feel disdain for Paul thinking there was something about him that John hated and there was good reason to. Paul was just a kid I now see. He was not playing head games. And if he was he was just having a go at it never actually wanting to hurt or confuse anyone. Anyways that's just my piece. I can only imagine what sort of world we would live in if John was here. It's almost like a universal direction shift. Paul was content with the way things were. John would of made sure that the world didn't turn out the way it has. It's really beyond awareness to hypothesize the effect John's death had on the course of the world.

I see this and know it in Jimi Hendrix, whatever excesses he lived to, and Eric Dolphy whom I consider to be the greatest jazz musician who ever lived. And this even came through in Mozart whom people said in his time was too nice. He didn't know how to drive deals and earn the money he so clearly deserved.
