    Thank you for reacting to ALAMAT. ALAMAT is actually one of the very very very few, if not the only, groups that talks about issues like racism, colorism, harmful social mentalities like the crab mentality (hence the crabs in the MV), and such. And we're really glad that their goal as performers and singers is coming across the international scene very well.

    Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences made a study on the DNA of an average Filipino. That study showed that the average Filipino is a combination of Negrito and Austronesian. The video highlighted the Negrito tribes in the Philippines but a lot of Filipinos doesn't know that they also have Negrito in their DNA. So when an average Filipino looks down on Negritos for their looks, they're basically just looking down on themselves.
    Edit: To those Filipinos who doesn't want to believe my comment. I will quote the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences:
    "formal tests using f3 admixture and f4 statistics provide direct evidence that Central Cordillerans retained to be the only ethnic groups within the Philippines who did not receive gene flow from Negritos (SI Appendix, Fig. S8 A-C). This is unexpected, given the series of migrations and periods of colonization in the surrounding area of the Cordillera region and the documented records of trade and historical interactions with Negrito and non-Negrito groups of Luzon (17). All other ethnic groups in the Asia-Pacific region are admixed with Andaman, Papuan, Negrito, Htin/Mlabri, or northern East Asian (nEA)-related genetic ancestries"
    If you want to read more of that study, look into their website because I can't seem to post the direct link on here. The study is called "Multiple migrations to the Philippines during the last 50,000 years"

      @Aku Sakit Tiyan The first second of the music video highlights colorism and you missed that? The multimillion dollar whitening industry in the Philippines so that men and women will look whiter is not colorism?

      There's only 0.8 Filipinos who have Negritos Ancestry and DNA. Especially in this Generation the Majority of Filipino is Austronesian/Chinese, or East Asian in General. 36% of Filipinos DNA is "East Asian" pls not all Filipinos are from or has/have Negrito Ancestry. Majority are Austronesian and East Asian. even the Aetas tribe is slowly fading it's Family Bloodline.

    Did you know that the original inhabitants in the Philippines have medium to darker skin tone? Then colonizers came and a lot of our ancestors were also ensalved and treated less human because of their dark skin.

    That's the trauma world wars caused for how many years already up to now.
    Since the Europeans and Americans were so war freak before, colonizing one continent to another. If a person is not white, they will be treated as slaves.
    6:15
    Its not really easy to solve racism. But just how the MV shows, education is the key. When the girl was so focus in studying, not minding the haters.
    But when it get her, sometimes she fall but there's always a reason to get up. With the help of her self, her fellow youth and older's support.
    Thanks for reacting bro & sis!
    Salamat po!
    Stay safe always! Stay positive!

    Did you know that Tomas ng Alamat or Franco in real name and Bailey🇵🇭 of Now United🌎 were in the same season of Big Brother in the Philippines in 2015. Where 3rd Teen Big Placer was Tomas/Franco and 4th Teen Big Placer was Bailey.
    Now look at how far they have come in their careers. Bailey is good at dancing and has improved his vocals as well as Tomas/Franco. Bailey is now Lead Vocalist and Lead Dancer and Tomas is now Lead/Main Vocalist and Lead Dancer.
    Btw, you already reacted to these two groups.

    Hi, I'm new to your channel. ABKD is the alphabet, but it also means literacy and education. Many Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines especially the Aeta, Agta, Arta, Dumagat etc. [They're could be related to the bushmen, genetically maybe ? (I'm not sure) ] are marginalized, ghettoized and very very rarely have college degrees or secure jobs. These peoples are the early inhabitants of the Philippines before the first wave of Austronesian migrations from Taiwan. The "Baluga" on the girl's sign is an old, derogatory term for these peoples and it is longer acceptable and discrimination is slowly becoming a thing of the past, the real and correct term for their ethnic group is Aeta, Mo's from that region where they're from - Zambales. Alamat's doing a good job as catalyst for change. More reaction videos from you guys, please. ♥

    Darker skin is an issue in the Asian continent for sure but that's also an issue in the African continent. I've read articles and watched videos that showed African women had burned skin because of whitening products. European colonial mentality is so real and it's still striving.

    ABKD is the Filipino abugida i.e. like how the English has alphabet (Filipino abugida has an inherent 'a' on the consonants: A, B(a), K(a), D(a)
    Baluga is like the N-word. It connotes to dirty (because from the rural areas), stupid/illiterate (the amount of tertiary schooling for indigenous people is sadly very low as they have a hard time accessing education - they live in mountains and such), animal (because rural people have different manners than urban people ex. rural primarily eat with hands, walk w/o footwares, etc).
    Ayta is her band/tribe name as source of pride, belonging, culture and history. There are 3 Black Indigenous tribes in Philippines that I know (Ayta/Aeta/Ita, Agta, I forgot the 3rd)
    The boys were made to look like kids as she's a kid.
    Those were crabs to represent those who have crab mentality.
    This is very dear to Mo as eliminating Colo(u)rism is his advocacy.
    Colo(u)rism is an example of Colonial mentality which many countries tries to eliminate through education, national pride, and love/kindness.

    Another thing about how ABKD is pronounced is that it also related/connected on how the Baybayin(a traditional writing system in the Philippines) is pronounced. Like,
    ᜀ=A
    ᜊ=Ba
    ᜃ=Ka
    ᜇ=Da
    Baybayin is already featured in KBye. It is the neon characters you can see in their MV spelled as ᜀᜎᜋᜆ᜔, which translates to A-La-Ma-T.

    the Philippines have their natives or aborigines, we call them Aetas or Ayta, they were the original native inhabitants of the Philippine Island before foreigners like Malaysian, Chinese, Indonesian came to the island and co habitate with the Aetas, then later we were colonize by Spain, Japanese and Americans. The Aetas look similar to the ppl of afiica with their darker skin tone, kinky or tight curly hair and short stature, they were depicted in this M/V to remind Filipinos of our ancestors, who were displaced by society. They are a disapearing culture and community in the Philippines already.
