    I love that you're willing to do some really basic bodywork, so I don't feel so overwhelmed. My skills will improve as I go.

    Thank you Chris!!! I have a 71 chevelle malibu and am getting rust over the trim on the roof. This video gave me a great idea as to what I need to do to fix this. Unfortunately, i am not financially prepared to do the work now. Thanks for showing vids on how to care for the Malibu.

      +Kevin Schrock the roof is not easy.. polyester primer would be a better idea but its over $100 a gallon and you need a 2.5mm + gun to spray...

    Great job Chris. Your experience is showing when you use patience instead of (excuse me for saying this) more Bondo. I love the way you feathered the roof with mostly blocking and primer with as little filler as possible. I moved out of Houston to halfway between Houston and Galveston. Great city, I was born there.

    • @chriscraft77022

      well, the truth is you probably want to spray a polyester filler but no beginner on earth can do that.. it requires a special spray gun 2.8mm (ish) and a $150 gallon of polyester filler.. people need to learn the way i did... better bodywork videos coming in the future.. i promise

    A good high build primer would fill those little pin holes with just enough filling and no more. Can also fill scratches and tends to not crack because the layers are so thin.

    Hey Chris great video brother. I'm working on a 68 LeMans that's been sitting for 30+ years. Cars down to the factory reddish primer. The body looks fairly good with few dents. Should I primer the whole car then sand down to find high and low spots?

    What type of air compressor are you using for that spray gun? CFM and PSI? Im shopping around for one for general needs and primer but not final paint.

  • @southernfriedhippie
    @southernfriedhippie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Roof came out awsome sir. I was wondering, was this a vinyl top car? I guessed it wasn't, not enough rust or trim holes. Sometimes you get lucky with small stuff during blocking, the primer coats fill it in. Beats more filler.

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, for beginners they need to learn how to fill with primer before they start floating a sensitive panel.. floating is faster but a beginner doesnt even know what that means or even what to float it with.. the monte in the background is a vinyl top car and is all screwed up... future video on repairing it

      @@chriscraft77022 I've heard that if I space the welds out and use some air to cool them take my time it won't warp. when I stripped the paint they just had some putty stuffed in them. Any suggestions?

    Just a suggesting maybe invest in some polyster primer it will fill little dents and is not that expensive

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kevin hekers most beginners can't afford it.. I have some that cost $150 and then you need a 2.8mm gun to spray it $100, but yes.. polyester primer would be way better

    • @kevinhekers2380
      @kevinhekers2380 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Craft it also could be that primer surfacer is a lot cheaper in the us in the netherlands it is like 70 dollars per liter and polyester primer is about 100 dollars per liter i think the car came out great but the way that you did it seems a bit weird to me we just pull out the dents as far as possible and than fill it up with polyester putty and then put some polyester primer over it block it down fill up any inperfections and then spray the primer surfacer block it down again and sand the rest of the scratches out with the orbital

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kevin hekers I have better bodywork videos coming.. this is for new people in their garage trying to figure out what is even going on.. production shop work is done different and no beginner can do a roof or hood that will look good painted
