I Turn My Hand Into A Beautiful GLOWING Resin Sculpture - DIY Resin Casting

  • Today I'll be casting my hand in resin into a beautiful glowing sculpture. I wanted to make something different today so I decided on making mold of my hand using Mold Star 20T and casting it in resin. I wanted to give it a glowing effect so I added a flashlight in the bottom that shines up through the hand onto the crystal ball I placed on top. I like the unique twist, now I'm curious as to the potential of casting resin in a copper or brass skeleton to create a combined piece. Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to 2020!

    Just a little extra hint from someone who has worked with alginate and most all of the various commercial rubber like compounds. If you're going to make a model of your hand, just before insertion rub all over your hand a very thin coating of vaseline. Rubbing a small dollop of it in heavily all over your hand won't compromise the detail yet will help greatly in extricating your hand from the impression compound.

    👍🏻That is so cool and original: low temperature chemo casting!! For a moment, I was worried that your hand was stuck and good thing the outcome wasn't a middle finger. Wonder how it will look like if you replace your flashlight with Christmas sparkling, color changing LEDs found in Amazon to make your hand shimmer. Thanks for sharing another cool video!😋👍🏻

    I thought you would take it a bit further, like a sand casting in bronze. That would be cool. Not sure that's feasible though. Maybe a lost wax? IDK it's all outside of my skill set.

  • @mikea6272
    @mikea6272 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was so thinking it should have just been a traffic finger, but after you bought the crazy expensive David Bowie crystal ball, it made sense. However.... (nit picking starting) pour the silicone, vacuum it..... then slowly drop the hand in.. your final product looked like it had no bubbles, but I think sanding to that mirror finish would work on this and be translucent as hell!!! Just a thought.. I've done alot of epoxy, yet not mastered the casing quite yet... (I'm a cheap ass)....
