As a long time fan I can not wait. Seeing the One Piece world in live action is wild lol. It’s biggest strength for grabbing viewers is how different/unique the world is. There is nothing else like it.
Kathy's story of how she got into the anime is exactly what Oda's goal was, imo. This is going to have its own spin on things and be its own story. But the impact it has on the viewers will draw people to the anime or the manga or both
This trailer brings me so much joy. There are so many easter eggs for "established" fans. And while some characters and set piece tell us they switched around some of the story, it's a different medium, so changes have to be made. We'll have to see how well it'll turn out. and just from what little we've seen, some of the changes are really cool in embellishing the world, or enriching some earlier story bits with information we got much further down the line but make totally sense to be included already (especially from the perspective of casting and budget etc) also, if time is an issue, I'd recommend reading the manga. much easier to consume, in my opinion, at your own pacing (and the first read through is free through the Manga Plus app // and the VIZ premium is afaik dirt cheap for what it offers, like 2$/month)
I love how roger looks like he went mad after traveling to the end of the world and seeing all the insane things we see later in the series, and learning all the secrets of the world.
he he looks like " Oh if only you knew, what you are in for..! " XD very well played, very fun. a fun decision, and I'd like to see more of that actor in the role, too... him meeting a large japanese bloke named Oden or so XD
I’m super happy you all started hopping on the one piece train! We’re 3 weeks away from a ground breaking event in the OP anime that is the climax of a 3 years + long arc. You couldn’t have picked a better time to get in to it. Would love to see a separate channel where you all react to where you’re at in the story and your thoughts on it.
@gizmo6485 your life is so sad that your only joy is hoping a tv show is bad so you can go on a website and say “I told you so.” Like, that’s honestly the saddest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. If you’re actually depressed or not satisfied with the way your has life turned out I highly recommend getting psychiatric help. 100% serious happy people don’t do that.
Great reaction! So far from what I see as an OG fan I am satisfied. I can see they made some changes to some of the villains story and where we meet them in the anime vs here, but it's expectable when they are trying to put a 1000 episodes + into a live action show it won't be exactly the same. I worry that some fans will be too critical and not give this show a chance because of these changes, but personally I started One Piece when I was a kid over 20 years ago when the anime released it's first episode I watched it, and still do week on week, and I am happy with the trailer so far.
I actually feel not enough has changed at least visually too much comic con looking chars, like Koby and Mihawk especially. Also I’m worried the relationship dynamics get rushed compared. Otherwise it’s ok so far.
@@ismaeljrp1 Yeah it's never gonna be perfect, but to me how character look, and how great the CGI is and small things like that never really mattered. It was always the story and the adventure that hooked me to this show, and watching some people being too critical about the CGI and how characters look or how abilities look makes me sad because if that is gonna be the reason fans don't support this show and ultimately get it canceled it will be a big miss from the fans and really them not understanding what One Piece was always about.
it is expected indeed. Just like in the anime vs manga where Luffy acutally beats Alvida in her safehouse or compound if you will, in the anime he beats her while she's raiding a cruiseship and as soon as you notice that, you understand why the change is understandable.

It's cool to see you guys go from not knowing much about One Piece to now where you have gotten a taste of the anime and both are actually starting to enjoy the series!! Saw your reactions to the first teaser and I'm actually blown away Kathy and Burk gave the series a try after seeing all the One Piece love in the comments. So in a way I guess this NetFlix show is doing what Oda(Original Creator) and Matt Owens(Head writer of the NetFlix version) wanted already. Bringing the story of One Piece to more people who may not normally give this sort of show a chance.
Coming as a fan of this story for half my life (42 now), I hope this adaptation, above all, captures the emotions. Seeing the scene where Luffy gives Nami his hat... Looks like we're on the right track. I have hope for this show.
I have faith in this project since they announced it because they said since the beginning that Oda, the author of the manga, was gonna be deeply involved in the project. He even said to the fans that he wasn’t going to allow anything he didn’t approved, he chose the cast himself, the main reason it took so long for this to move on since they announced it was because he was looking for the cast, and he apologized many times in letters to the fans when the years started to pile up because he wanted that his characters that he created were as he imagined them in real life and he did exactly that, so any choice or anything what we are going to see I’ll support it even if some things i dont like them because at the end of the day who i am to criticize the Goda himself! So exited for this and hoping to watch your reviews as new fans. Even people that have never saw One Piece because they say is too long they say it looks cool and that they will watch it.
i've been a fan of one piece for so long now, read the entire series multiple times over the years, and I personally am very very excited to see this live action! The trailers that we've seen so far have looked like such a good time, and I'm completely charmed by the main cast! The CGI looks pretty decent, and it's really interesting that even in this trailer we can see that they've changed a few very significant plot details from the source material, and while some people may be upset by that, I'm really curious to see how it plays out! I think the secret to having fun with this series is to let it stand as its own thing without expecting it to be a 1:1 translation of the manga into live action format, because a lot of the cartoonish gags and characterizations that really work with anime/manga just aren't as funny in live action so it's important for them to adapt the story telling to the medium. I also really like that in the final scene of the trailer, where the main character Luffy is looking at the notice board with all the wanted posters, we see posters for three characters that show up much later in the series. It's a really loving little detail that makes it very obvious that the people behind this show are true, genuine fans of the series. Thanks so much for your trailer reaction! It was really fun seeing these two trailers from the point of view of people who aren't as steeped in anime culture as the other people reacting to the trailers.
This is so wild to see such different perspectives on this. As a 15+ year fan, I’m just so excited to see new fans getting into the story. And this trailer was jaw dropping! The amount that they showed, without putting the whole story in the trailer, is just unbelievable to me. I am sold hook, line, and sinker on this show.
I see, you're 50 eps in.. And already showing this much appreciation in the show.. I can't imagine if you get deeper in it.. If you ever come across 130 episodes.. I'd trust that you have a decent idea of how the world in that story would go.. and there will be parts that may bore you.. Still, that would not take away the fact that, it is their journey, they don't have to be involved in anything great unless they were caught in it.. It doesn't have the formula to make all audience to be always so immerse, but it makes sure it's worth tuning in all this time..
loved ur reaction, try to read the manga if the time is of concern to u and enjoy slowly, don't rush to finish, one piece is about the journey not the ending.
I'm a One Piece superfan and have been for over 20 years. I'm so excited for this I can't even properly put it into words. You know, if you wanted a frame of reference for hype in the fandom
Mostly all animes start as Manga (Japanese Comic Books) then the popular ones get adapted into animes first for the most part. But usually animes have 1 main creator, writer and illustrator who draw the manga as well. So everything you would see from the anime is basically Eiichiro Odas creation and designs.
As a 11 year one piece fan, whom has watched the anime and read the manga several times. I do agree with ur point on how people might want it to be a 1 to 1 with what they know and love, but it just cant work that way. Which is why im very excited for what this is!, sure theres some things that i didnt like in the trailer, but knowing Oda sensei, and Matt owens have their heart and soul poured into this, and all the amazing cast and crew... I cant help but bet big, just like in the story where everyone believes in Luffy (main character), im going to trust and believe that this will turn out well, for both old and new watchers.
For me One piece is some kind a world in Peter Pan 'cause the imagination of Islands / Characters leave so many space for our imaginations to follow the crew of Straw Hat.I follow the manga sincet the beginning in 90'.
I'm a huge One Piece fan and I think it looks amazing. There's some minor complaints but so much more great stuff. And the trailer just makes me smile, it looks like so much fun 😁
I grew up watching One Piece. This masterpiece has changed my life. And as a fan, everything that has something to do with One Piece, I'm going to consume it, take it all in, and appreciate the work that Oda have put in to all of these. That's how I love One Piece.
Was fun to watch this reveal during the stage in live streaming of "One Piece Day 2" with the original VA and japanese audience, they told that the dub in JP was not easy lol
I see that Luffy and all the Strawhats crew vibes and dynamic are pretty accurate with the anime/manga versions. Because Oda involves in casting them. I trust Oda. And that’s all that matters to me in this live action. I’m a super fan of One Piece since I was kid in the early 2005.. so the early arc and saga is very nostalgic and have special places in my heart. As a kid, I’m eating good 😅, One Piece is a masterpiece. It’s so funny, makes you cry and the story is so deep. Yeah it’s so wild to see One Piece in a live action now. I feel so proud and excited
It’s funny. In 2008, I’m not a fan of Ironman when it’s come out. Because I was so faithful, loyal and big fan of Spiderman 😅. And then, The Avengers movie coming out, I started to realized, this movie is so good and disappointed on why spiderman isn’t there 😂. I don’t know about marvel and sony complications at that time. After that movie, I started to like mcu because the connections between superheroes.
Watching One Piece is like watching Dragon Ball Z. And that'd a Triple AAA good thing. All of a sudden, you don't know the type of Adventure your setting yourself up with, but Once you go in it, there's no looking back! And suddenly you've become a fan of the Series. 😊

The main test for the onepiece live action will come later on. Chopper + brook + franky. And then the shift in tones and ability to do the visuals of the crazy islands.
Well the first season of the Live Action will take place in the East Blue arc. So all of it can be viewed from the first 40 episodes of the anime. If you watched even a small part of the series, I would think you can see how well or not they did the characters or the scenes in your opinion. For me, though there are differences, I am loving the overall look and feel. Some of the most iconic characters of the very first part of One Piece such as Hawkeye, Buggy, Coby (who is in episode 1), Alvida and of course Roger has been done very well IMO. The only one I am a bit hesitant about is Shanks. I enjoyed your video and hope we can get more opinion of how you felt about how well the trailer fit the episodes that you watched. Looking forward to this series once it comes out.
It looks so good! ❤🎉 As far as the look of the characters and effects the one thing I can say is I have no Idea how they could have done it better. One Piece is essentially a Hanna Barbara cartoon turned into a pirate anime so to have been able to translate it into live action on any level that doesn't look completely hacky is in and of itself a monumental accomplishment. CAN'T WAIT!❤🎉
I have been a fan of the anime and manga for 23 years, I was afraid of this because of the cases of dragon ball and others, but this is beautiful, I'm gonna wait very happy for it
the live action trailer really looks very good, but I don't think it can compare to this awesome anime ^^ I just can recommend watch One Piece till the end, the storywriting is the most insane story you've ever encountered. but if you don't watch it for a certain amount of time, you can't know what we hardcore fans talk about :)
The month of August is going to be a great month for One Piece fans. First the anime internet is gonna break august 6th, 3 weeks of recovery then this live action is dropping. Cant wait ! 😝
The trailer looks great and the line at the end of the trailer is a total Luffy line and I got a lot of faith with inaki as Luffy. Also love how the DF powers are looking in the trailers, as for the fishman they look as good as you can expect in a live action format. Imo they made the right choice going more practical in the live action. Manga & anime is great for Goda abstract art style, but that style would not work in a live action format just saying. Lastly the only real flaw so far is who they cast as shanks, just base on the trailer he don't look like how shank would look. So I wonder if the show becomes a hit would they recast that role since we won't see him again until the grandline. Btw we all know this show will not be a 1 for 1 with the anime since the east blue saga is 60 episodes while the live action will be 8 episodes

I think as a fan of abime characters. I would say that it's best for the anime creators live to make their own standoff version of that anime. It doesn't even have to be similar or close to the anime itself, this way It succeeds without making a mistake in the dance part when film making it. Like for example dragon Ball evolution, wasn't even close to the anime itself which many fans still to this day talk bad reviews on it. But in common decent ways that a non-fan sees it for the first time, and than thinks to himself, "it's actually pretty good!" In ways I paved ways for many young viewers to watch the anime more. But it doesn't hurt the anime franchise. Many live movies creators can learn from This tactic menuver to making a better film. Just take a look at the trailer we just watched! It's Hella Good!! I don't expect OP Live TV series to follow the anime series to Close because it's pretty much mediocre to Try and make me watch it all over again, instead make it in a similar ways to the anime but with new added scenes never Before seen. I'm up for it. And trust me it works.

This is just one guy's opinion, but I've been reading One Piece for a long time now, and it looks to me like they nailed all of the most important things that they need. The casting is on point, the sets look amazing, and the production team didn't divorce themselves from the whimsy that is such a big part of One Piece's core. Of course, it'll be seeing the episodes in full that determine how well it sticks the landing, but considering how hard it has to be to hit that sweet spot, the trailer's done a lot to give people hope.

@@crombajaa Oda specifically said in an SBS (every volume in the manga) several years ago where every Strawhat would be from if they lived in our world. Luffy from Brazil, Zoro from Japan, Nami from Sweden, Usopp from Africa(don't remember the country) Sanji from France, Robin from Russia, Franky from the US, etc

If possible, I would like to see Kathy's reaction for the One Piece anime (Japanese audio with English subtitles). I am sure you will see the One Piece fans loaded with appreciations and comments, and you will also find out how the love for this anime series begun and where the hype is coming from.
With the One Piece anime there was some things I really liked about it, but also a number of things that really annoyed me about it. It is uplifting, but at some times the plot could really drag. Oda made some amazing female characters in it, but at the same time it was written in a culture where he was not allowed to utilize them. From what I can tell about the trailer, it brings out all the positives of the anime, while providing better plot paciing. A One Piece written for an older audience, was just what I wanted. I am really looking forward tooit.
I don’t see it being completely 1-1, which I feel people shouldn’t expect at all, however the tone and the jist of the story is there. It looks great to me and definitely looks like it does justice.

I'm really happy that they seem to get it, One Piece is a Fantasy much like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings and I'll always defend that this is the correct comparison to make, instead of comparing it to other anime/manga

Coming as a fan of this story for half my life (42 now), I hope this adaptation, above all, captures the emotions. Seeing the scene where Luffy gives Nami his hat... Looks like we're on the right track.

First Anime I watched was Speed Racer and Starblazers in the 60s-70s though I have never watched One Piece, this looks like a lot of fun
I have faith in this project since they announced it because they said since the beginning that Oda, the author of the manga, was gonna be deeply involved in the project. He even said to the fans that he wasn’t going to allow anything he didn’t approved, he chose the cast himself, the main reason it took so long for this to move on since they announced it was because he was looking for the cast, and he apologized many times in letters to the fans when the years started to pile up because he wanted that his characters that he created were as he imagined them in real life and he did exactly that, so any choice or anything what we are going to see I’ll support it even if some things i dont like them because at the end of the day who i am to criticize the Goda himself! So exited for this and hoping to watch your reviews as new fans. Even people that have never saw One Piece because they say is too long they say it looks cool and that they will watch it.
Oda worked under Toriyama, that's why it has a similar feel to Dr. Slump. Especially after Brook joins
i've been a fan of one piece for so long now, read the entire series multiple times over the years, and I personally am very very excited to see this live action! The trailers that we've seen so far have looked like such a good time, and I'm completely charmed by the main cast! The CGI looks pretty decent, and it's really interesting that even in this trailer we can see that they've changed a few very significant plot details from the source material, and while some people may be upset by that, I'm really curious to see how it plays out! I think the secret to having fun with this series is to let it stand as its own thing without expecting it to be a 1:1 translation of the manga into live action format, because a lot of the cartoonish gags and characterizations that really work with anime/manga just aren't as funny in live action so it's important for them to adapt the story telling to the medium. I also really like that in the final scene of the trailer, where the main character Luffy is looking at the notice board with all the wanted posters, we see posters for three characters that show up much later in the series. It's a really loving little detail that makes it very obvious that the people behind this show are true, genuine fans of the series.

Still, that would not take away the fact that, it is their journey, they don't have to be involved in anything great unless they were caught in it..
It doesn't have the formula to make all audience to be always so immerse, but it makes sure it's worth tuning in all this time..
loved ur reaction, try to read the manga if the time is of concern to u and enjoy slowly, don't rush to finish, one piece is about the journey not the ending.

Mostly all animes start as Manga (Japanese Comic Books) then the popular ones get adapted into animes first for the most part. But usually animes have 1 main creator, writer and illustrator who draw the manga as well. So everything you would see from the anime is basically Eiichiro Odas creation and designs.
As a 11 year one piece fan, whom has watched the anime and read the manga several times.
I do agree with ur point on how people might want it to be a 1 to 1 with what they know and love, but it just cant work that way.
Which is why im very excited for what this is!, sure theres some things that i didnt like in the trailer, but knowing Oda sensei, and Matt owens have their heart and soul poured into this, and all the amazing cast and crew... I cant help but bet big, just like in the story where everyone believes in Luffy (main character), im going to trust and believe that this will turn out well, for both old and new watchers.
Luffy is like a child's idea of what a Pirate Hero should is.

For me One piece is some kind a world in Peter Pan 'cause the imagination of Islands / Characters leave so many space for our imaginations to follow the crew of Straw Hat.I follow the manga sincet the beginning in 90'.
I'm a huge One Piece fan and I think it looks amazing. There's some minor complaints but so much more great stuff. And the trailer just makes me smile, it looks like so much fun 😁
I grew up watching One Piece. This masterpiece has changed my life. And as a fan, everything that has something to do with One Piece, I'm going to consume it, take it all in, and appreciate the work that Oda have put in to all of these. That's how I love One Piece.

I see that Luffy and all the Strawhats crew vibes and dynamic are pretty accurate with the anime/manga versions. Because Oda involves in casting them. I trust Oda. And that’s all that matters to me in this live action. I’m a super fan of One Piece since I was kid in the early 2005.. so the early arc and saga is very nostalgic and have special places in my heart. As a kid, I’m eating good 😅, One Piece is a masterpiece. It’s so funny, makes you cry and the story is so deep. Yeah it’s so wild to see One Piece in a live action now. I feel so proud and excited
It’s funny. In 2008, I’m not a fan of Ironman when it’s come out. Because I was so faithful, loyal and big fan of Spiderman 😅. And then, The Avengers movie coming out, I started to realized, this movie is so good and disappointed on why spiderman isn’t there 😂. I don’t know about marvel and sony complications at that time. After that movie, I started to like mcu because the connections between superheroes.
Watching One Piece is like watching Dragon Ball Z. And that'd a Triple AAA good thing.

Well the first season of the Live Action will take place in the East Blue arc. So all of it can be viewed from the first 40 episodes of the anime. If you watched even a small part of the series, I would think you can see how well or not they did the characters or the scenes in your opinion. For me, though there are differences, I am loving the overall look and feel. Some of the most iconic characters of the very first part of One Piece such as Hawkeye, Buggy, Coby (who is in episode 1), Alvida and of course Roger has been done very well IMO. The only one I am a bit hesitant about is Shanks.
I enjoyed your video and hope we can get more opinion of how you felt about how well the trailer fit the episodes that you watched. Looking forward to this series once it comes out.

It looks so good! ❤🎉 As far as the look of the characters and effects the one thing I can say is I have no Idea how they could have done it better. One Piece is essentially a Hanna Barbara cartoon turned into a pirate anime so to have been able to translate it into live action on any level that doesn't look completely hacky is in and of itself a monumental accomplishment. CAN'T WAIT!❤🎉

the live action trailer really looks very good, but I don't think it can compare to this awesome anime ^^ I just can recommend watch One Piece till the end, the storywriting is the most insane story you've ever encountered. but if you don't watch it for a certain amount of time, you can't know what we hardcore fans talk about :)
The month of August is going to be a great month for One Piece fans. First the anime internet is gonna break august 6th, 3 weeks of recovery then this live action is dropping. Cant wait ! 😝

The trailer looks great and the line at the end of the trailer is a total Luffy line and I got a lot of faith with inaki as Luffy. Also love how the DF powers are looking in the trailers, as for the fishman they look as good as you can expect in a live action format. Imo they made the right choice going more practical in the live action. Manga & anime is great for Goda abstract art style, but that style would not work in a live action format just saying. Lastly the only real flaw so far is who they cast as shanks, just base on the trailer he don't look like how shank would look. So I wonder if the show becomes a hit would they recast that role since we won't see him again until the grandline. Btw we all know this show will not be a 1 for 1 with the anime since the east blue saga is 60 episodes while the live action will be 8 episodes

I think as a fan of abime characters. I would say that it's best for the anime creators live to make their own standoff version of that anime. It doesn't even have to be similar or close to the anime itself, this way It succeeds without making a mistake in the dance part when film making it.
Like for example dragon Ball evolution, wasn't even close to the anime itself which many fans still to this day talk bad reviews on it. But in common decent ways that a non-fan sees it for the first time, and than thinks to himself, "it's actually pretty good!"
In ways I paved ways for many young viewers to watch the anime more.
But it doesn't hurt the anime franchise.

During 90 to 2000s cartoon Indian censor board was liberal as we have priveleg to get One piece Uncensored.
This is just one guy's opinion, but I've been reading One Piece for a long time now, and it looks to me like they nailed all of the most important things that they need. The casting is on point, the sets look amazing, and the production team didn't divorce themselves from the whimsy that is such a big part of One Piece's core. Of course, it'll be seeing the episodes in full that determine how well it sticks the landing, but considering how hard it has to be to hit that sweet spot, the trailer's done a lot to give people hope.

@@crombajaa Oda specifically said in an SBS (every volume in the manga) several years ago where every Strawhat would be from if they lived in our world. Luffy from Brazil, Zoro from Japan, Nami from Sweden, Usopp from Africa(don't remember the country) Sanji from France, Robin from Russia, Franky from the US, etc

With the One Piece anime there was some things I really liked about it, but also a number of things that really annoyed me about it. It is uplifting, but at some times the plot could really drag. Oda made some amazing female characters in it, but at the same time it was written in a culture where he was not allowed to utilize them. From what I can tell about the trailer, it brings out all the positives of the anime, while providing better plot paciing. A One Piece written for an older audience, was just what I wanted. I am really looking forward tooit.

Sanji and Zoro, are okay and even Nami is fine. They kind of have the same energy. Why the heck does Luffy has bushy eyebrows and look middle eastern or Mexican? The sidekicks are Japanese? Luffy's energy given by the actor is subpar compared to the anime. The one-liners have no impact. Arlong's makeup face looks odd but has the same strong energy as the anime.
