For yet another side of Lovebites, check out "Edge of the World" official live. Starts as a ballad and at the same time one of their more progressive songs.
Break the Wall? Yes, in a way that's what they did. I remember the discussions with some buddies back in the days. Five elegant, gracious ladies, dressed in white (no need for the metal boutiques and the adjacent tattoo parlours), with a vocalist who didn't hide her ballet background perkily said in their "declaration of intention" that they wanted to be a band that should make a difference and not just remain a footnote in Metal's annals? Those friends were - to put it mildly - sceptical. And what happened? The mighty ladies devasted that wall as if it had been made of sugar and established themselves in the highest echelons of the genre. Lovebites: They do not just play heavy metal, they LIVE it. What a band!
I am a thrash head first and foremost. The great 80's were the best era of thrash. This performance right here is my all-time favorite live recorded thrash song. Asami's vocals and stage presence doesn't make sense for what you're listening to and watching, yet it makes 100% perfect sense because it's Lovebites.
I grew up on groups like Cream, Hendrix etc. For our generation, the guitar duo of Clapton and Allman was the gold standard--partly because of how different they were and how well they worked together. This performance is the only thing Ive ever seen that matches and maybe surpasses that. Two utterly masterful and completely different solos in one song. Masterpiece.
Beautiful! Words cannot describe how much I love it when they lean into thrash. They're so good at it. I love all their songs, but when they lean into thrash they're among my favorites. There's some fantastic exceptions. What a discography they have! You would probably also enjoy Thunder Vengeance, live from this show (it was the show opener, and it is on their official channel - check out the 2020 one). That's the song that made me fall in love with the band, so I may be waxing a little nostalgic, but it bears some similarity to this one, although this one has that beautiful breakdown and two very distinct guitar solos. What a band!
For a softer side of Lovebites to spice things up betwean heavy metal songs: the 3 "E" songs are ballads: Edge of the World, Empty Daydream, Epilogue ( I recommend 2020 performance for the first and 2019 for the other two ), these songs have the best lyrics which usually are not the strongest point of Lovebites, but I love the first two. For rock songs: Frozen Serenade is a masterpiece with a beautiful stage show, Liar (2023), Journey to the Other Side (2019, is a beautiful epitaph for Miho's father) and as a bonus, since Lovebites music is inspired by 80s rock and metal, they have a very fun take on 80s pop rock - Spellbound.
Seen many, many Metal bands over the 4 decades since I first saw Sabbath in 76 and (imho, of course - but definitiely true too) Lovebites is the best Metal I've ever seen. No growling, no pained look-how-hard-this-solo-is faces, no anger, just supremely skilled musicianship, played with smiles and relaxed expressions. Love Miyako's Gary Moore style solo in this song, especially on that heavy to carry Gibson. Metal Perfection. 🤘🤘PS Wait until you see the virtuoso piano playing of Miyako, in songs like Swan Song and Frozen Serenade.
@@tonygriffin_ Hazuki can be like that too. Especially with those glasses on. I call her the Librarian, lol. She can be shredding away and she could be saying "quiet please, there shall be no horseplay in the library" 🤪
A masterpiece of a thrash song right? I love all the subtle influences from 80's thrash bands and some Deep Purple as well. Early in the song Miho's bass even sounds like DD Verni is playing it. These ladies are firmly in number one as my favorite band of all time. Rock on! 🤘🐺🤘
Indeed - but the rest of "musical world" is getting envious, because they aren't able to follow. If you are not be able to overtake a competitor by talent and skills, fight him with other possibilities than artistic competition. . . .
The thrash and the contrast in Miyako's solo are awesome and as usual Haruna's fills are great. My favourite thrash song by Lovebites is Thunder Vengeance. Thanks for the reaction 🤘

I've seen many metal bands over 5 decades. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, Priest, Maiden, Testament, etc. and I would choose to see Lovebites over all of them. Phenomenal doesn't do them justice. Trust me they will just get more impressive as you dive deeper.
Lovebites "WAR TRILOGY": Apocalypse - th-cam.com/video/c-nNbcj2_IE/w-d-xo.html , Under the Red Sky - th-cam.com/video/GGRteJHSwgw/w-d-xo.html , Above The Black Sea - th-cam.com/video/4je2d8CR1Lw/w-d-xo.html
Thrash Metal doesn't get better than this! With this specific version, Lovebites have perfected the raw sound of my favourite album by Testament, "The Legacy", in a live setting. By the way, the main riff of "Break the Wall" strongly reminds of a riff in "Over the Wall", the opening track of "The Legacy". In addition to Haruna's drumming, I especially love the heavy sound of Miho's bass in this version and, of course, both guitar solos! Together with "Set the World on Fire", "The Hammer of Wrath", "Dissonance" and "Soldier Stands Solitarily", this live version of "Break the Wall" is one of my five overall favourite songs by Lovebites.
You want something different? * I would say "Dance with the devil" is different. That's a sassy bluesy piece. Love Asami in that one. The only song written by Midori. * Want some rock and beautiful singing in harmonies? Then "Burden of time" from their rehearsal studio Abyss is a gem. (BTW - the album "Awakening from the Abyss" refer to them getting out from the rehearsal studio and now doing real stuff.)

Great, thanks, it's on the list.
The contrast in this one between the thrashy sound and rythm and the slower emotional part is just too good !!

Miho,s "drop-notes" in the verses should be displayed in a museum, just amazing......
This is one of their best thrash songs. There's plenty more where that came from !

Yes, i agree. But this is for insiders. Let a necessary time be provided the auditor is needing to process the former impression first.
I'll be doing these soon.
It's a lot to take in.
Now you gotta watch them SET THE WORLD ON FIRE!
I'll definitely get to that.

Yeah, great band. Thanks for sharing.
for me definitely the best thrash song I have ever heard, written by Miho the former bass player, unfortunately it seems she no longer writes songs
She wrote lyrics and composed music with MIYAKO. She left the band. Have no band.
