It used to be an enjoyable experience but now it's full of people who just pull out on you. If they should be giving way or not they don't care their more important than anyone else in their eyes.
There's a video of a Tesla attempting to use Autopilot on this roundabout. It just gave up and said fuck it. Mind you, it doesn't seem too hot on roads with faded middle lane road markings either.
I was wondering about that. Tesla and most of the "AI" driving programs seem to favor the US style 4 way intersections where you just have to go straight unless you need to make a turn (change the street you're on). If the light is red, you stop at the intersection. If the light is green, you start. The roundabouts, however, require actual thinking - you're wondering if the cars are coming from your left (in the US - I assume from right in the UK). If the timing works, you move out, if not, you don't. You also don't have to stop at the intersection to make that decision. All that to say, it's the person making that decision and not the signal light and the immediate car in front of you.
I've said this somewhere else but you are totally right, aim where you want to go, follow the traffic lines, give way to the right. It's bleeding obvious and works really well.
It's easy - carefully follow the road markings and signs/bollards and pay close attention to other traffic. Also, hope that the road system isn't clogged up by idiots driving around it just for fun and/or making video recordings. If you can't use said thing - perhaps you should consider whether you should ever be behind the wheel at all.
Nobody drives around the Magic Roundabout just to keep going round it. It is always clear from the road markings which lane you need to be in to get where you are going, which is left on the outside "ring" and off to the right, or straight on via the middle "roundabout". It just fucking works!
It is just common sense I drive over it every day. Just approach the roundabout see where you want to go get in lane and follow the arrows.
I wonder how the Sat-Nav would sound like as one tries to negotiate the insane roundabout.
- Corben, are you sure you can drive this thing?
- Well, you just drive, you kiddin
Hey look kids, there’s Big Ben and there’s Parliment....
In Swindon?

Nice video, thanks

I think it was even more fun before they put in the central raised roundabout. I've always enjoyed driving on it.
I have driven trough numerous time, Its a fun
I'm carsick from just watching the video.
Its okay if you know exactly where you want to go but once you enter it .... no signs as to where to go
Just read the signs before you enter the roundabout
A version of this in mirror image, familiar to right-side drivers would be most welcome!
That is just another variance to my Australian upside down version.
@@webelementstraining Funny! Serious request, tho. The US has hordes of people who need schooling on roundabouts.
The yellow Lambo going round it at 2:01 looks so fake
You're absolutely right. As my Lambo was in the garage for repairs I thought this was the best way to animate the story (-;
@@webelementstraining Ok, thanks for explaining it

Its like a car dance.
Point your car in the direction you want to go. Follow the lines. Give way to those in front of you. It's not really that complicated.
Yep, the guy intentionally drove around in circles to make it appear more confusing by back tracking directly and indirectly.
The scary part isn’t the roundabout itself, it’s all the people who constantly stop or drive through the middle

Much more fun than driving in America where its just go left, right, straight or stop.
Try driving in a city. People in LA end up doing 50mph the wrong way down one way streets to try to get to a ramp they can see.
This makes my puny American brain hurt.
Simple; pure insanity. I once tried to micro model it. It does not work. It relies on the motorist to react.
I live.in Swindon have.to.drive.across it most. Days

Looks like people should drive around it just to drive around it. You could spend all day autocrossing this thing like a loon.
we need a few thousand of these in the USA !!!
If you can't work it out you shouldn't be driving. Not only not in Swindon but not anywhere at all!
