    It's amazing how many different sounds you can get from a drum kit but when you have a true master of the instrument like Chad Wackerman, you're not just watching sounds being produced, you're watching a living musical master class come to life before your very eyes.

    Fantastic! I saw Chad for the first time with Frank Zappa sometime in the early 1980's and he blew me away.

      First time I heard Chad was on Allan Holdsworth's 'Road Games'. This was before I knew he played with Frank as well. Great musician.

    I love Chad Wackerman...I have only seen this now for the first time. This is one of the best composed drum solos I have ever heard. The tone he consistently gets on the toms is fantastic!

      James Muller is not Allan Holdsworth however he is in the upper echelon of guitar masters on the planet. Check out The Subterraneans! :-)

      James is actually more versatile than Allan Holdsworth. Check out his brilliant work with his jazz trio ... like a completely different persona, but equally spellbinding, innovative and masterful.

    Если это музыка Чада. то он ещё и великий композитор. А стиль этот ближе к avant prog, чем к jazz. Или avant-gard jazz.

      That song is called "The City" from the album "Scream". Excellent recording I still have from when it was released in 2000. th-cam.com/video/_QWcv2MSfNw/w-d-xo.html

      After a 4 year old post, the suspense must be killing you ;) so, the tune you're asking about, most of it, I believe is, 'The City' off of Chad's 'Scream' album (2000)

    I was trying to work out whether that guitar you were playing James was the one Nick made for you... the one that was stolen... then I looked at the date this was recorded. Did you get that guitar back or is this another guitar?

    • @jazzercaster4749
      @jazzercaster4749  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe this is a tele made by Sydney builder Jeff Mahlia, he has a Muller "Signature" style guitar on his site too same as this one.

    Holdsworth would probably encourage Muller to find his own voice.

    • @Gregorypeckory
      @Gregorypeckory ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Red Skeleton Decades ago doesn't mean he's not heavily influenced by Allan, which is undeniable, and I suspect Allan would have been way to polite to say anything to him, but I know he was a little annoyed by people copping too much of his sound. I have no objection however; the dude is a fantastic player, and I even like obvious clones, because if you can do it, it's beautiful even though derivative, but I think the OP is probably right anyway in regard to what he probably would have thought hearing this. It's hard for any jazz rock guitarist not to be heavily influenced by the genius GOAT.
