I first heard Mr Porter performing live at the Capital Jazzfest in DC a few years back. I was totally blown apart. I have since followed and attended his live performances all over the states, in Europe, Singapore and even in my country of birth, South Africa. I just can't have enough of his music. The man is extremely talented.

Norms and values, musical aesthetics and simply the day and time. This is not a time for melody or harmony as the masses fail to understand them.
in short what is popular remains so because it is designed for the people that will consume it.
I feel fortunate to have spent time around some of the people that helped Mr. Porter with his projects, but that happened based on my norms and values. //shrugs
I am a hip hop fanatic but my 4 year old daughter loves jazz which made me open myself up to it and one day listening to talk radio they played a song from G. Porter so i looked him up and have been a fan ever since. I introduced him to my family and friends and there all hooked. I didnt know jazz could sound like this...thank God for my daughter and I thank my baby for showing her daddy something thats always been here that I over looked

NYJALB I do, she is such a personality its hard not to listen to her plus she's so head strong if you won't listen to her in one way she will rearrange her approach until you do..she 's very tenacious now at the age of 4 for her the sky's not her limit she's reaching for galaxies
