I have lived in Panglao, Bohol for 2 years now and no where else I would want to live. But i do try avoid going into Tagbilaran as much as possible due to the traftic. And there is a Robinson's being built in Panglao at this time. But Bohol does have the best of everything, the city, the beach areas, the mountains and the airport and ferries which are just short trips to anywhere in the Philippines as well as other SE Asia countries.

Once, in the 1960s, there was a GI-sheet producing industrial plant in the the town of Cortes that kept department stores (no malls yet) in Tagbilaran busy. But that plant soon faded, and business slowed.

Great video, and it looks like you both really enjoyed your time in Bohol! I wouldn’t be surprised if you end up moving there eventually, even though Roxas City is nice. However, it’s quite windy there and very exposed to typhoons. Bohol is likely to develop into a major tourist hub and a prime destination for foreigners looking to settle down. With its large size, numerous opportunities, proximity to Cebu, growing city, and modern mall, the potential for growth is immense. Truly, the sky is the limit for this beautiful island!

First time Philippines i stayed in Alona beach, in September for 9 days.
Typhoon was crossing but it wasn't so bad just a bit windy and rain for the first 3 or 4 days, then it calmed down a little.
Although no sun until the last 2 days.
It's just a beautiful place and the people are very friendly and helpful.
It reminded me of when I lived in Ko Samui for 6 months in 05, just peaceful and relaxing,
But Thailand did have much better infrastructure even back then,
I think if I do return to the Philippines I,ll visit their again, because I made a life long friend and it's so cheap to stay there.
I only spent 1300 Australian in that time.
    And that was holidays.
So I,m sure you could live a lot better if you stay for a long stint.

Bohol has a problem of water and electricity. Stayed in one of a family owned hotel in Panglao there are times I need to call in the middle of the night as the water is out. Also heard and read from FV posting that they have problems with turning on and off of the electricity that breaks their appliances down. My opinion if you want to live their you need to make a self-sufficient home. That means solar for electrity and deepwell abd filter for water. Probably the thing we would do when we finally decide to build a house in pur land in Bohol Island.

Malls in America are dying and the malls in the Philippines look like they're doing robust business...
The demise of brick and mortar will prove to be a very sad chapter in American culture. It will also lead to the demise of many small family businesses that rely on foot traffic to sell food and other items.
The reduction in face-to-face communication between store employees and the buying public has already created an entire generation of people that don't want to talk. And now you can buy a car online and just go to the dealer and pick it up without even shaking anybody's hand or talking to anybody. Sorry folks, I know I'm going to sound old but that is not progress... 😭. I sold a pop up camper to a young family while an employee of a dealership. The entire transaction was via email, not even a phone call he lived locally. I met him when he came to pick it up. It was a very cold transaction I hated it..
